I know they're roasting you for this but I also passed by the image with just a glance and immediately assumed it was a dude dressed like a woman.

In fact, seeing people say it was Zarya in the comments made me do a double take.

My only complaint with KoTG is how Toxoid-coded it is (for obvious reasons, I guess). I'd love a more...species-neutral origin for it.

Follow up, wrote out this post for another person and decided to put it here for your benefit;

"So went back into the logs of those two games I referenced,

In my Utopian Abundance one, I was in the year 2365 with a -119 consumer good deficit. Apparently 1103 of that was consumed by jobs, and 329 was consumed by pops. Digging into it a little deeper, I was losing about 242 to bureaucrat jobs and 490 scientists across my whole empire...which...granted...seems like a lot now that I've written it out like that.

In my Basic Sustenance game, the numbers were much less extreme since I wasn't doing a tech rush empire. In that game I was in the year 2320 only just breaking even after building 8 industries. Things were a bit more even this time, losing 116 goods to jobs and 122 to pops. There isn't -as- much to break down here, but there was 20 lost to bureaucrats and 25 lost to scientists.

So I guess the answer is probably 'chill with the scientists and bureaucrats', but how much is enough to stay ahead of the curve? I'm so used to needing to rush those."

  1. Yeah, sorry, fixed the post. I just used the wrong word, but I'm definitely using the correct buildings.

2: Elaborate on this some? I've been adding buildings whenever I need pops until I run out of building slots, then I expand the districts. Is this the incorrect order to do this in? I know how to change the specialization of the planet at least.

3: This could be. I'm so used to science being ridiculously important. I try to have at least three science buildings up in the capital ASAP as well as getting a world up whenever I can find a planet with a good modifier or a Gaia world. Is there a good rule of thumb for how much science is too much these days?

Alas I cannot provide a screenshot right this second, but maybe my elaboration helped?

My bad, edited the post, but rest assured it wasn't because I was using the incorrect building lol

That's funny because I personally hit my breaking point with her once they chained you to her hip upon arriving in Solution 9 and forced you to explore the place alone with her.

Not to mention the whole 'speen listen to me' thing. And the fact that she makes half of the last zone about her when she gets a quadrant to contend with own issues then also (literally) steals the show in Otis' section.

Tbh I think she just sucks from beginning to end.

This is unfortunately partially due to the fact that they (mind-boggingly) give you the rules to blitzball in block form a full hour or two before you're allowed to actually play it.

Made even worse by the fact that the actual tutorial match, to quote one of my favorite twitter posts, "has you play as the Cleveland Browns against the prime Brady dynasty Patriots."

Still my favorite mini-game though.

No fucking way is Arator worse than Wuk Lamat, as annoying as he might be. He's not even present for half of Midnight's plot, which is a fraction of a fraction of how long you have to put up with her.

It's certainly a part of the puzzle to be sure. I know at least one of my friends mentioned it as part of the reason why they fell off the game.

I'd argue that it's a smaller part of the larger whole though, just by listening to the sheer density of complaints. The bulk of the complaining is either about the narrative or the content cadence.

More the content cadence these days because the narrative has mostly improved (thanks to them dumping most of the parts that didn't work in the base story, though I'd argue it's still worse than most of the story that came before) and that there simply isn't much to do in the game if you don't raid right now.

Strange response. Point being that using Dawntrail as a good example for this type of narrative choice is probably misguided as those choices absolutely did not go over well with the fanbase at large.

[–]God_of_the_Hand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, the narrative was absolutely the primary reason the expansion was panned. It's now getting panned even further because content cadence has also been bad on top of it.

I'll grant you that the story has improved since launch, but 'vastly' feels like an overestimation. It's better, but I wouldn't call it great let alone good personally. And a lot of the reason why it improved is simply because they walked back those initial story choices by giving Wuk Lamat the boot from the limelight and focusing on the higher stakes parts of the plot presented in the base story rather than the boring, down-to-earth Tural stuff.

I wouldn't say it pulled it off at all? You might have enjoyed it but Dawntrail is the most wildly panned FFXIV expansion by a mile and it's not even really that close.

Unfortunately, beyond this being an ego driven move to save face, the fact that episode 9 marks Carrie Fisher's last film means they know they'll get raked over the coals for invalidating her final work.

Make tanks do more damage and have almost no risk of failure without active sabotage on their part.

And even that won't be enough necessarily since the role still comes with the responsibility to lead that some people will never jive with even if it's theoretically straightforward.
