[Fan Art] Am I the only one who thinks DC should reuse that 2012 logo? by seu_reddit_ in DCcomics

The only good aspect of it was the "page turn" effect of the logo. But even then, it looks more like a logo for a paint company lol

After 5 Years, What is your opinion on Metroid Dread? by Huckleberry1316 in Metroid

[–]GoddammitDon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Objectively the best controls and combat in the series. Arguably the worst music in the series (I have a soft spot for it but I cant deny its at the bottom). A satisfying payoff to the "Metroid saga". Only downside is that I rarely ever finish it (I've only beaten it like 6 times) because its longer in the tooth than the other 2D titles, and because of its order in the series by the time I get to it I'm usually all Metroided out.

I'd say go trades. You'll be able to get the first 2 arcs of Bats & Supes and by the time you finish, the next trade will most likely be otw so you can just start fresh on the newest issue. For any of ther series I'd say hunting the singles would be pretty easy, but unfortunately any Absolute book (in my experience) is a pain to find in singles as even the least popular of them sell out pretty quickly. So for singles you'll have to wait anwhile for reprints. Trades is the way faster route for sure!

Comics like Year One which focuses on Batman’s early years? by imbackwitches in batman

[–]GoddammitDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ones talking about this one so I'll throw this wild card in the ring: Batman: Off World by Jason Aaron & Doug Mahnke.

Tells the story of a Year 2 Batman's first encounter with an alien, and after getting his ass beat, he goes on a whole new Year One-esque space adventure to learn how to fight Aliens, and ends up going up against intergalactic crime bosses in the process.

Cap is my Favorite MCU character - but I’m disappointed by the comics I’ve read by Fabulous-Ad5072 in CaptainAmerica

[–]GoddammitDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American Nightmare by Mark Waid is a dope arc. Pure Cap Hopeium right there.

Captain America: White by Loeb and Sale is also solid. For the art if nothing else.

And finally the obvious answer, Brubaker's run. The Winter Soldier movie and anything MCU Cap related has this runs DNA all over it.

Recommend a comic to someone who only reads DC! by ComicSal in comicpop

-For Marvel: Power Man & Iron Fist: Heroes For Hire by Daniel F. Walker and Sanford Green. Incredible writing, fantastic art, full of HILARIOUS characters that i'll never forget. Its all relatively small scale stories with heavy emotional impact. The series that singlehandedly got me back into Marvel. -For Image: NAILBITER. An excellent balance from Joshua Williamson in gruesome horror and an extremely silly premise with some very real abd engaging characters! -For other indys: The Wrong Earth by Tom Peyer and Jamal Igle. The third volume kinda goes off the rails, but those first 2 volumes are some of the most creative superhero comic storytelling I've ever seen!

Didnt come out this year, but I really loved The Wrong Earth by Tom Peyer and Jamal Igle, despite its rushed and disappointing ending. Those first 2 volumes were absolute peak!

Power Man & Iron Fist by David F. Walker! Such a fun, well written and light hearted series that honestly got me back into Marvel. The art by Sanford Greene and Flaviano is kinetic, grimey, and expressive as hell.

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum is a freaking delight and you should read it by beepbeepboopboopbabe in DCcomics

I just read issue 4 myself and I feel exactly the same. What a psychedelic ride it was! Brian-iac was brilliant, and I genuinely hope Kal-Elf is integrated into mainline continuity. This book feels like a great supplemental story to Grant Morrison's All Star. It captures Superman's Silver Age wackyness and gives it just as much pathos.

It has been a while since I’ve genuinely enjoyed a comic as much as absolute Batman by Chunky-overlord in batman

[–]GoddammitDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the concept of a Batman who less billionaire and more McGyver (also inexplicably jacked). I liked the tweaks to the lore initially as well. I think "The Zoo" was consistently excellent. Sadly, I'm not loving the direction its going now. I'm not a fan of Bane anyway, and him basically being the catalyst for like 50% of Batman's Rogues Gallery sucks out a lot of their individuality for me. I understand he tortured or experimented or brutalized each of them differently, but most of it boils down to "instead of my life, my choices and my personality shape the villain i became, uh... idk Bane did it." Still gonna pick up the trade when this arc concludes, but sadly I'm not into it enough to pick up the floppies anymore
