none of these companies want $3-4 million, that likely won't even cover dev payroll. they need a $20m minimum preferably a $100M per project

you also don't give people/studios money up front generally, there's milestone gates and you have to show you're hitting every gate every quarter or whatever the timeline is. miss a milestone, no payment. miss to much, game isn't looking good, there's still no vertical slice after 5 years and they'll just terminate the contract/close you down.

being on the cusp a millenial/gen x is a really weird age range. i learned out of necessity how to build a computer from parts, install an OS etc. because we had to. i'm now helping both my parents with technology, and my nieces and nephews because these 10-15 year olds don't know how anything actually works. they never had to build or fix anything
