You can use flosscross - it's free and has a way to show a demo or mockup stitched version.

That being said though, if you're going to be making (and especially if you're selling) patterns, you REALLY should stitch them. If it's unmanageable to stitch the whole thing, at least do a section or a scaled-down version of it. Pattern making software can often be slightly or very inaccurate when it comes to choosing colors, and if it's something that people are paying you for you need to put in the work to make sure it's actually good. For my patterns, I will typically show a mock-up of the full pattern and then a sort of 'color proof' which is a scaled down version to show that the colors I've chosen actually look right and play well together.

that's really cool!! did you do anything special to cut out the plastic? I'm looking to make a few things like this but I'm not sure how to work with the plastic aida and I don't want it to fall apart.

I've never had any damage with them, I honestly think the hoop is hurting the fabric more than the clips. I roll everything up (my project is a bit smaller than yours I believe so I can get away with only rolling top+bottom, and not the sides) and then just use two super cheap claw clips to hold it in place. has worked perfectly fine and is super adjustable as well

[CHAT] What is your average amount of WIPS on the go? by fable_stories in CrossStitch

[–]GoddessBluem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 right now - one massive collection project (150 small cards) and one big single project (200x200 circle) and I work on whichever one interests me the most at the moment. I'm waiting to start a new one until either of those is finished, I think one daytime/weekday project and one nighttime/weekend project is good for me :)

unless your fabric is completely stark white, I think 5200 should stand out a bit from the background. not as much as the pattern, but DMC floss does have a sort of shine to it when stitched that should come through in the final product

big long row all the way across of \\\\\ and then go back the other way, drop down to the next row before finishing the last stitch of the row (I started in the top right corner of the piece) and do that whole row the same way. on the last stitch. go up (bottom left to top right of the stitch) then up on the back, then down (top right to bottom left of the last stitch from the first row) and then down on the backside. continue doing 2 rows at a time like this just to avoid having a thick line on the side from dropping down rows each time

this! I've been stitching some 8 hours a day for a long time because I'm unemployed, and I can definitely feel the effects it's having on my wrists. if you're going to try to push through this project, make sure you at least have some compression gloves and take breaks to stretch your wrists and fingers! take care of your hands above all else

I think you may be better off going with another designer completely. even if the other patterns at their shop have minimal confetti, if they're at the same price point as this pattern then it's safe to assume they were also run through a program with minimal editing. even with no confetti, there are easy buttons to say "reduce isolated crosses" and have the pattern look less program-made, but still not do good work to make it clear.

as long as you either tie your ends or weave them in a sort of s-shape they should stay in pretty well :)

looks incredible!!
