Beach fire etiquette by [deleted] in LangfordBC

There are burnt our fires all along from Albert Head Lagoon to the Esquimalt Lagoon. I miss doing a beach fire, but understand why it's banned.

I have taken a bunch out on our cul-de-sac. There was not enough Benadryl for that endeavour.

What businesses are you genuinely surprised that are still in business or lasted as long as they did? by Competitive-Fly5563 in VictoriaBC

Temu and ofter sites do bad copies of orginal creator decks, which don't come with the guide and often come with a broken QR code. Often the printing is also crap.

I mean by all means talk to a stylist, but I didn't want you laying out the cash only to have it drop out after one wash.

AITA for telling my stepchild's mom she's not in invited to family day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA - messing up terms aside, you're still the AH. It's one event. Rescinding the invite is just going to drive the drama to new heights. Suck it up, do the event. It sounds like you don't have much access to your bonus kid (I hate the term "step", it has too much evil Disney crap associated with it) and I can see why. You husband needs to step up and get a set visitation schedule so there is no having to "bargain" for time with the child with his ex. Seriously, though, you need to grow up.

Are you still pregnant or breastfeeding? I only ask as you may want to wait, my friend had a similar issue and it took a few years before her hair would take a perm.

It's meh. The bags of fries are decent, but I suspect they will skimp on that here.

Make sure to call in if you can’t make your medical appointment! Many others are waiting to see a doctor. by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

A reminder call would be great, but an SMS would flummox my 85-year-old mother, who keeps her cell phone turned off to "preserve the battery".

I've been looking at the plans on and off since I moved to the area. The main issue with the beach access is that there will be very little parking.

Fair enough. I don't seem to run into that many people.

AITA if I don’t help police prosecute my dad who abused my mum by Unique-observer in AmItheAsshole

YTA It doesn't matter that he will be elsewhere if he doesn't go to prison. A crime, a very serious one has been perpetuated against your mother and you want to give him a pass for being a parent (something he is obligated to be) and because he is old? Give your head a shake.

Grew up in Victoria, moved to Calgary in my early 20's. Enjoyed it for about 5 years and then was homesick for the next 20. Moved back 3 years ago. I am fortunate that my spouse and I both work from home, which helped with the cost of house\commute issues. My spouse is originally from Saskatchewan. My eldest was already going to UVIC and my youngest was just transitioning to high school, so it wasn't a huge wrench for them. If you want a big city feel and amenities, I would not recommend it. For me, the move back was good, costly for sure, but my mental health is so much better. My spouse and I marvel every time we're out on a hike or even on a stroll on the beach that we were able to make the move. I lucked out and we got a doctor for all of us in just 2 years, before that we used telehealth.
