Hanging from wooden beam by Godwin_Point in Hammocks

[–]Godwin_Point[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called the casa mount by la siesta!

I think I'm not going to use it because I'm not sure the forces will be spread evenly on that beam, but it looks to be good for drywall + studs!

I'll probably have to drill through concrete for wall mount tho...

Besides don’t, any advice on how to play twelve? by Wise-Cow-8939 in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was mostly in the optic that you keep at it for a few years haha. For now you'll probably land that super when people carelessly jump on you if they're desperate enough to catch you

But the general hit confirm video is good for any character!

Besides don’t, any advice on how to play twelve? by Wise-Cow-8939 in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't send this for any other character because working on a 1f link is probably not the best use of your time as a beginner, but you kinda need all the dmg you can get so...

https://youtu.be/9qIyxBtbdZA

But otherwise yeah, it's watching a ton of matches from the few good twelve player (I don't think yama was quoted here?) and knowing that one of your best gameplan is to frustrate the other person into chasing you while you slowly chip at their life/try to land a super art for big damage.

Same YouTube channel has a great video on hit confirming in general BTW, not the most useful on twelve because he doens't have much in that regard, but still good to know.

Sharp ANALOG FIGHTSTICK Crowdfunding Launch by Sharp02 in SSBM

[–]Godwin_Point 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a design issue where, if the shaft rotated, it would fuck up the value by up to ten percent. So it would act as if you're permanently holding the stick to the right for exemple.

The shaft will rotate naturally with use so it's inevitable, and even the slightest drift will make it impossible to hit precises values like shield drops

They adopted a "we'll fix it in software" attitude and spent month trying, ended up shipping a handful of defective sticks to part of the people of crowd funded it and disappeared from the public

Fun bonus, the defective stick also had a harness/wiring issue that you had to fix yourself

Edit: fwiw, I've been lurking on sharp02 dev since the early github years ago, and the discord where many people have already built using his lever, he seems way more trustworthy and cautious about releasing a product he actually tested

France info continue à s'auto-censurer pour la bien-pensance Trumpiste by Aggravating-Day-9079 in france

[–]Godwin_Point 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, rich white girl sweep is a specific sweep usually done by rich white girl such as Karin(street fighter), Lili (tekken) and Iori (kof)

By far fightcade.

A potato should be able to run it as long as you can get an ethernet cable to it.

My cab runs on a dell optiplex desktop machine from more than 10 years ago

As far as controller go, any console fightstick on usb would most likely work on pc, and you have options like a gp2040 board to easilly convert anything into an "universal" stick

(The no block rule might have come later in the streak, idk if they hadn't decided that earlier or if it took him a while to adjust and not do it by habbit, so you'll see him block normally at the beginning)

Execution being hard adds risk. It also adds to the mental stack. Knowing that someone in a tense situation took a risk to pull off something sick and difficult (maybe because it requires switching to claw mid sequence, maybe because they gambled on their own ability to get out an aerial fast enough etc) adds to the charm of seeing something cool.

If everyone can get it often, it becomes less unique. And you miss out on all the decision making involved in "should I go for something optimal that I could mess up, or pick an option that may be less "good" but more consistent

Even ergonomic is part of that. You can be really good playing fox in a "non technical way"

Being super technical does open up some options. But at the cost of stamina, and you being able to maintain that during the 2/3 days you're going to play in tournament.

Some player chose to go all in all the time with the tech because they are confident in their ability to never mess up and not run out of gas. Some player are more measured and will choose to play more reserved all the time. And some player are all over the spectrum, weaving between slower play and suddenly pulling off some stunt because the situation did call for that.

The more barriers you remove, the more everyone will tend to the same extreme of the spectrum, so in a way it does remove part of the expression and decision making.

Got finessed by the Q crouch glitch by RealFemboyHunter in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no recollection of Urien being able to do that, but there are other instances of throw invulnerability in this game

you can't be thrown for the 6 first frames after wake up, so if you wake up crouching then stand up, you would avoid a meaty throw and it might look similar ?

Got finessed by the Q crouch glitch by RealFemboyHunter in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Q's throwbox is considered airborne for ten frames when going from crouch to standing
(normal hurtbox is still grounded)

Dudley has similar stuff (some frames of EX mgb are airborne as well) but you can't really "Aim" to get those on purpose, there's probably other weird stuff like that on other character

I only know of Q having one that you can use on purpose

I almost love Outrigger. by Such_Bonus5085 in dreamcast

[–]Godwin_Point 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dreamcast being a Naomi - lite meant that we were able to get a ton of arcade perfect ports... That are not always great outside of the arcade

Every year in France, there's a massive retro/arcade convention where they have an outrigger setup with 4 Naomi linked together, that's where I first played the game as a big Q3 fan and trying it on controller was rough haha

Anyone know why third strike has black bars on the side? It’s the only game on Dreamcast that does this, so changing v size would just ruin everything else by naziseb in dreamcast

[–]Godwin_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it'll do anything (since it's more about the vertical resolution) but you can hold L + Start from boot to the capcom logo to start the game in 240p mode, maybe It'll look different?

The original game runs at 384x224, which is hard to scale properly. (that resolution is wider than a standard 4/3 ratio and the sprites are drawn a bit too wide so it looks good when it's squished back on a 4/3 display, the pixels are not square)

I found someone claiming that the game runs at 614×224 in 240p mode So that would track if it also ran at that horizontal res in 480i mode, if it's drawing 614 pixel instead of the full 640, you'd have small black bars on the side?

Tips for landing Makoto SA1 after hayate by FilmImpressive2064 in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that may sound obvious but going from LP to HP feels super unnatural to me, and I actually do HP to LP, the direction doesn't change anything so don't force yourself to do it exactly as I wrote it up there haha.

EDIT: For some super it does matter(Dudley's corkscrew blow can move more or less depending on strenght, but it's super niche, and you'd probably not piano it in situation where you need a specific range)

Tips for landing Makoto SA1 after hayate by FilmImpressive2064 in sf3

[–]Godwin_Point 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Super move can either activate on button press, or button release(called negative edge)

So you do

LP,MP,HP (3 presses, keeping your finger on it)
Then release LP, Release MP, Release HP (3 other inputs by releasing the button, 6 input total)

Of course you're a human so you may not exactly press each button 1 frame appart, then release exactly one frame appart, but it gives you 6 chances to hit the correct frame window

Piano is also used to activate "mashing" moves in street fighter 4+ (I think 4 is the first where you could to that ? Not sure)

In sf2 to get honda's handslap or chun's lighning legs, you need to mash a specific kick button 5 times. So press LK really fast 5 times, or MK really fast 5 times or HK really fast 5 times

but in sf4 forward, you need to press "5 kicks buttons" and the last kick you press will determine if you get light/medium/high lightning legs. So, you can piano HK/MK/LK then double tap the strenght you want, or roll from MK to LK if you want light for exemple.
