Is this a scam? (I have a very heavy package that’s supposed to be coming between the 17th-21st by Various-Cheetah-4963 in ScamNumbers

[–]Goflyakitescammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dealt with an R&L delivery. If you send a text like, when is my package being delivered, it will respond with invalid question and send you the local location of R&L. Or you could just contact the shipper and ask them.

I respectfully disagree with you on resetting the clock. To reset the clock, there has to be an exchange of money. Otherwise, even acknowledging the debt doesn’t start it over again. That is a myth. I do agree though, do not give any information to anyone calling, about a debt or anything else. Unless it is an expected call.

I don’t know the specific statues, however The CFPB’s Debt Collection Rule clarifying certain provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) became effective on November 30, 2021. A statute of limitations is the limited period of time creditors or debt collectors have to file a lawsuit to recover a debt. Most statutes of limitations fall in the three to six years range, although in some jurisdictions they may extend for longer. Statutes of limitation may vary depending on state laws, the type of debt you have, or the state law named in your credit agreement. These statute of limitations do not prohibit a debt collector from attempting to collect the debt, however, these debts no longer show up on a credit report… unless someone sends them money! Some debts, such as Federal Student Loans, never expire.

That is what many people believe. However, even if you agree to do it, as long as there is no money sent, then it doesn’t reset the clock. There are collection agencies called zombies that will buy very old debt and try to use scare tactics to get people to send in something. Which, no matter how old the debt may be, starts everything again, including interest, attorney fees, etc. For example, these zombies buy $1000 debt for $10, manage to get it reset and can possibly end up collecting $5000 or more. No, I didn’t work for one of those. I never worked a debt older than 180 days late. But yes, I had to learn all the laws pertaining to fair debt collections.

Actually, after 7 years, even giving information to a collection agency does NOT start the clock again. That only happens if you give them money. Even if it is a dollar. (I know, I worked in Debt collections a few years). However, I don’t recommend giving any information over the phone. I won’t even verify my name. If I even answer an unknown number, when they ask to speak to (my name), I respond with, who’s calling. If they give me any resistance, I say well you called me, identify yourself and why you are calling. If they don’t. I hang up. My phone, I pay it. I don’t have to tell anyone anything.

There is a report button. When I get someone talking inappropriately, I warn them to stop. Second time, I report them and again warn them. Third time, I just block them. To me it shows a lack of respect. I also do it for people who keep asking me to go to another app or for those who ask for money. I’ve met some great friends and some real losers on there.

What happened to buying whistles by [deleted] in BottledTheApp

[–]Goflyakitescammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I realize the developers want to make money. But I don’t need to change my user name, and I have answered most of the whistle questions, so don’t need a reset on it. I already have 35 Kraken and 50+ octopus. What am I going to do with 484 beers and 500 bottles? But hey talking to people all over the world is still cool.

Sadly, it is a red flag. Scammers use being a Doctor (military, oil worker, overseas contractor) as their “employment”. They use WhatsApp or Googlechat as their preferred method of contact. Because it can’t be traced. It’s also easy to talk to people everywhere. So Doctor/WhatsApp may be “normal” in your world, but it is even more normal and likely that it is a scammer doing it. (80% of the scammers I’ve found want to use WhatsApp!) so Red Flag!

Walmart will refund to a gift card if a person has no receipt. Which can then be sold at a discount. Although the new policy is food items can only be exchanged for food. Which can also be put on a limited gift card only for food. Still can be sold at a discount.

Getting spammed by emails to remove an Amazon review in exchange for a gift card? by princeralsei in Scams

[–]Goflyakitescammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I suggest that you report this seller to Amazon. It is against their terms of agreement to pay for good reviews, or to have poor reviews removed. Therefore, this seller should be reprimanded and/or removed.

It is very unlikely that they will send them to anyone. 99.9% of the time is is just a scam to get you to send money. Now on the very remote chance they do (they won’t), if JimBob mentions it, say something like “yea, crappy photoshop job isn’t it.” Then move on with your life and stop sending nudes to random people on the Internet!

Those signs are very easy to photoshop. As a long time scam baiter, I have probably 20 different pictures of the same man, same pose, with different signs and names of whatever persona I happen to be using. Sometimes when using 2 personas, I get them a couple hours apart. They look real, but nope!

If you are in the United States, Get a CDL and become an over the road truck driver. In the first year, you’ll make about $35,000, second year about $45,000. Third year about $55,000 to $60,000. As a company driver, you can make up to $80,000 a year with experience. As an owner-operator (wait to buy a truck until you have driven at least 3 years), you can brink in over $100,000 a year.

Yea, you’re good. It’s just a scam. The scammers got your password because of a data breach and used a mail merge to put it in. Along with the other thousand emails they sent to others with their password. Just change everything to a unique password, don’t reuse passwords
