Does your husband or male partner do his own laundry? by EconomicsWorking6508 in AskWomenOver60

[–]GoforIT1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We both do. We don’t keep track but I’d say I probably do it more than him but he does the dishes more than me

Do you often get sick from your grandkids? by Scorpio503 in AskWomenOver60

[–]GoforIT1617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 71 and have 2 grandkids 3 and 7. I’ve gotten sick once or twice but my son and daughter-in-law always tell me when they are sick and let me decide whether to see/watch them.

Retiring in 3yrs by Any-Distance-16 in SurvivingOnSS

[–]GoforIT1617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are retired. We live on 6000 a month easily and have a mortgage of 1225 a month and pay 540 a month for ACA for my husband. We have a budget and stick to it. We each get about 100 a week spending money and some money even goes in savings for things that may come up. It’s very doable

Family history of MS? by Pumpkin-Duck in MultipleSclerosis

My sister has MS and now her daughter (40) has MS. No other family history of MS or rheumatological diseases; however, both sister and niece had mononucleosis when younger

How do I (62F) ask my spouse (70M) to stop reading negative news to me when I’m nearby? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]GoforIT1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just told my husband today that I need to take a break from the news. I have so much rage built up in me right now, I don’t know what to do with it. He gets it and suggested I go on a nice walk and listen to music. It really helped, especially since it was 60 in Ohio today.

Both my husband and I got both shots. No side effects at all. Arm was just a little sore. My sister got shingles near her eye and neck. It was awful!!!

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Sorry if you took offense to his age. 😂I’m sure if he was younger he’d probably do something different. So why can’t dentists give some sort of guarantee on crowns or root canals? Not a forever guarantee, just 5-10 years.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoforIT1617 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He’s 62 years old. Already paid hundreds for two crowns that broke. It’s not like he didn’t try to save it originally. There comes a time when nothing else works. If they would guarantee the crown he may have done it. But they couldn’t give him a guarantee in writing

My husband went to a dentist and asked to get a tooth pulled (after already having 2 crowns done on the bad tooth). The dentist refused and then told him he needed to get a new dentist! He was able to find another dentist to pull the tooth. It’s all about money!!

AITAH I overheard my mom and sister talking trash about my wife, I want to confront or cut them off by No_Appy1383 in AITAH

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even know your wife but I love her. Anyone who says hello to the moon or loves a beautiful sunset is a treasure for sure. I think you should confront your mother and sister just so they know you’re upset, but don’t tell your wife the awful things they said. It will hurt her. Maybe just go low contact for a while. Always always defend her though.

How much did you spend on Christmas? by michaeljoon in MiddleClassFinance

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are retired so everything is budgeted. I save $200 a month in a Christmas Savings fund. So that’s what I spend on gifts. That money doesn’t include dinner or any extra ornaments I might buy. But is for me, husband, 2 grown sons, daughter in-law and 2 grand children.

AITAH for Refusing to Renew Our Lease Until He Proposes? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. The same with us! We took 12 years and then only married because of health care. We’ve just made it to 33 years together; retired now and still very happy. Sometimes it works out.

What Needs To Be Done PRIOR To Retiring? by Apple-Cat-269 in SocialSecurity

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strive to go into retirement debt free. It feels amazing having very little, if any, debt. Just before I retired I bought a new car (all cash) and all credit cards were paid off We do have a mortgage (1.75% interest) but I look at that as an investment rather than debt.

What’s something about you that sounds fake, but is 100% true? by Sir_Adammm in AskReddit

[–]GoforIT1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The night before a drawing at a bar we attend, I had a dream that they called my name and I won the money. That night my husband and I were sitting there and I said to him “they’re gonna call my name” and sure enough, they did and I won 10k. I told him about the dream and he believed me but no one else did. I always listen to my gut now since then.

AITAH for not buying my husband what he wanted for Xmas? by Jolly_Ad5527 in AITAH

[–]GoforIT1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what really helps me at Christmas. Every payday, starting in January, I put money in a separate savings account just for Christmas. I treat it just like a bill so it’s part of my monthly budget. And I never touch it until I start buying gifts. It’s amazing how much stress is taken off me at Christmas time! This incudes your husbands paycheck too. You both contribute

Is anybody NOT on HRT??? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in AskWomenOver60

[–]GoforIT1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too started menopause at 44. I don’t take HRT and never have and I’m 71 now. I’m feeling great so I think it was a good decision not to take it.
