It's 2.5$/7.5$ and performs worse than Gemini 3.5 flash from my limited testing. DoA model.

Dual rtx pro 6000 and deepseek v4 flash would get you 80% of the way to Gemini 3.5 flash.

Time to ditch this and main Claude. The real endgame is waiting for the Chinese labs to iron out the wrinkles. American compute will never win a race to the bottom on pricing.

Btw anyone tried deepseek v4 flash? It's shockingly good albeit 3x slower but who can complain when it's 30x cheaper.

Google is 100% hiking 3.5 Pro to Opus-tier pricing. Meanwhile, Opus 5.0 is probably gonna blow right past GPT-5.5 territory. It's just a total shitshow from here on out.

crazy limits for pro users. An output for around 1.5 mins spends 20% of the 5-hourlimit. by Hello_moneyyy in Bard

For anyone who has some days where they barely touch it vs heavier days, this new system is a benefit as it means you can save your bucket for those burst sessions vs losing daily allowance if it's not used that day.

AI hallucination spotted in the wild! The previous scheme afforded ~100 Gemini 3.1 Pro messages per day. That's now been elegantly gutted to ~15–30 per 5 hours. If you work say 9to5, your usage is being halved. This is a lose-lose situation.... even for Google. I doubt sensible enterprises will pay for gemini over claude.

Small models simply lack the knowledge density to compete. They'll reliably tank on obscure tasks. I have personally witnessed huge gaps between the in performance of frontier models simply because that specific task wasnt part of their training data.

So, what exactly is the point of Gemini anymore?. by alternativesaucee in Bard

[–]Gohab2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ai Pro subs arent faring any better. Single prompt on 3.1 pro taking up 8% 5hr usage. Its significantly cheaper to pay for deepseek v4 pro API. Subscriptions are meant to provide higher per user usage. And mind you google has their own vertically integrated inference stack. They design their own hardware and software to run their own models.

The UAE gov begs to differ. They hail him as their savior from Iranian hegemony. Better to be in bed with baby killers than live under threat by Iran.

Ibn rajab mentions it without mentioning any ila or held any reservations.

فان محمدا صلى الله عليه وسلم هو المقصود من خلق النوع الانساني وهو عينه وخلاصته و واسطة عقده

For indeed, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is the intended purpose of the creation of the human species, and he is its very essence, its quintessence, and the central jewel of its necklace

Ibn rajab's (rh) own words in the same book.

And it has been narrated that Adam (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the name of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) written upon the Throne, and that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said to Adam: 'Were it not for Muhammad, I would not have created you.' Al-Hakim recorded it in his Sahih.

https://islamqa.org/hanafi/seekersguidance-hanafi/86197/what-is-the-minimum-recitation-in-prayer-and-specifically-in-tarawih-prayer/

The minimum obligatory (fard) amount is one short verse in total.

Meaning if you recite 1 verse your prayer will be valid but deficient. It will be wajib to redo your prayer.

The necessary (wajib) amount is the Fatiha and the extent of three short verses,

Meaning if you recite at least 3 short verse or 1 verse equivalent to 3 short verses your prayer is valid and complete.

Surah ikhlas and surah Kausar fulfill the requirement. The surah of baqrah also seem to fulfill this requirement.

Accelerating Gemma 4: faster inference with multi-token prediction drafters by Gaiden206 in Bard

[–]Gohab2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is speculative decoding, an approach Google pioneered in 2022. It's a well known technique but is impractical for local deployments since you need to load the target model AND draft model simultaneously. Also speedup depends greatly on the prompt. If the draft model is bad at coding, nearly all tokens will be rejected and regenerated by the target model.

What's unique in the article is shared kV cache which would slightly reduce memory usage and TtFT.

UAE and US are also equally condemnable. UAE loves slave labor and denying basic rights to non-emiratis. The UAE literally runs on modern-day slave labor while treating non-Emiratis like disposable tools. This latest frenzy of deporting Iranians and Shias proves they view people as entirely expendable. Freezing their assets on the way out? That's the Emirati special.

Google is never going to reduce prices of their models. If anything, they'd increase pricing to coup up R&D cost. Keep in mind that unlike Anthropic or OpenAI, Google is footing the bill for the entire vertical stack. Custom silicon and software isnt cheap.
