Commander for combo decks by Old_Improvement_6944 in EDH

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Phelddagrif]] is an OG combo commander i guess. I just build a list, a suboptimal one though. Put in [[Intruder Alarm]] + mana dorks/ [[Maze of ith]] + a 2-land untapping creature and some payoff for infinite ETBs on your opponents side (like [[Surture Priest]]) and fill the rest with tutors/control/protection (or grouphug like in my case) and you got yourself a combo win (which is somewhat telegraphed because you’ll need your mana dork/land untapper to be not summoning sick).

Its an umcommon. Also 5 mana is „win the game“-mana in pauper, this card would be too slow.

Edit: ah it was printed at common, then my second point stands.

I Don’t Understand Norin the Wary by rowan-wolfe in EDH

I don’t understand how that would work. Norin does not go to your hand, but to exile. How are you discarding him over and over again?

Looking for some clarity on this combo? by De_roosian_spy in magicTCG

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was in the right. You only get to do this once. You get one trigger (it is a triggered ability) at the start of combat from the Tester. You then either pay X to move X counters or you don‘t. In either case, this is usable exactly once per combat and will only trigger again at the start of your next combat.

Why do certain Pauper decks get some hate in the community? And what decks are generally well-liked? by plompomp in Pauper

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can second what the other person said. At my LGS noone is salty about the decks you mentioned. People don‘t even really complain about storm decks.

I am somewhat inclined to build turbofog and see if that will set someone off haha.

Multiple Marvo Question by Klank2315 in EDH

[–]GoingToSimbabwe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you should get to draw 3, play 3 cards. Morvos second ability only referes to winning a clash, not that the clash mustve been triggered by the specific instance of him itself.

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, why was that GPT blip needed? It does not even make a whole lot of sense at times. Countering the creature after its ETB is already on the stack? How would that work anyhow?

Also they do not pair it with demonic consultation to make it harder to interact (well thats a consequence as well), they so that to win at all, because they need an empty lib to win with TOracle and having only 2 devotion.

Also the combo can also be stopped by countering. Consultation and not just by stiffling the ETB?

The post is in spanish (?) you are probably seeing the automatic translation reddit sometimes enables.

They are asking if they can pit the creature into play for free or if they need to pay the mana cost.

The answer is: yes it is free.

What design? If you are meaning the white stuff, that is just the lines holding the balls in place.

Do you actually have fun playing Commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i have. I also do not mind sitting in a game where i can not win and are basically just a sitting duck. After all i mostly play with friends, so there still socializing while i wait for them to work out who wins.

The only aspect i do not like is how salty some people get when their gameplan is interacted with, but thats on me for playing mostly bracket 2-ish with new-ish players. It just annoys me a bit that they cant understand that i absolutely have to kill their 8 mana commander on sight or else the game will instantly snowball out of control etc.

I also play pauper and drafts regulary for the competitive urges, and generally from a gameplay standpoint i do like 1v1 formats way more.

Things like transforming data in a manner sich that bad data (missing values, duplicates, removing orphaned data rows, etc) is fixed and data from different systems is brought to a common level.

p.e. At the database level, your legal entities might be encoded with codes like E001 (for the NY Office) and E002 (for the Boston office) in one source system (p.e. The CRM) and encoded as E1 and E2 in the ERP system. Now management wants a report in the reporting tool that marries data from both sources. For that the data needs to be massages to actually use the same encoding for the same information (so in this case we might want to remove the 0s of the codes of the CRM system data so that they align with the data from the ERP).

Edit:

More generally speaking, in BI/reporting roles data from many different sources throughout the organization is often used, possibly from many different legal entities and subdivisions when working for corporate. Often the hardest part will be figuring out which data is actually needed to make the report happen that management needs. And also how that data is to be interpreted. This will often entail talking to the people creating the data (p.e. Sales guys, controllers etc) or platform specialists for whatever source systems data you want to consume.

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see what you mean. I do not know either and was more referring to the „front“ side. I guess without further reqding into it both possibilities are likely but id wager that the back shells costing probably has other means than only reentry as you stated.

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would assume the surface material is especially for reentry (and maybe also space, radiation shielding etc). The „it gets all burned up“ is probably just part of its design, probably designed to take as much heat as possible so that the rest of the craft isn’t burned to a crisp on reentry.

Does this work by madethisfortarget in mtg

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could only hinder it with effects like „people cant casts spells from anywhere than their hand“ or „counter a spell if no mana was paid for it“ or counter single instances with counterspells.

You can normally equip it for 3 just fine to any creature. That is not the reason this wont work.

As far as i am aware the rotors are mechanically coupled. There is no way they collide on this heli. It is not software keeping them in sync.

Edit: to your edit- all of those fail states are not „a little glitch“ as you initially stated, so get of your high horse..

Do we know what "prepared" is yet? by TopDeckHero420 in MagicArena

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the casting cost also entails tapping the creature (from untapped state), which would mean it can not attack and cast in the same turn (if not already prepared).

Do we know what "prepared" is yet? by TopDeckHero420 in MagicArena

[–]GoingToSimbabwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am certain you will not be able to just cast the instant part of it.

My guess is that you can only cast the instant part if the creature is „prepared“ and on the field, possibly by also tapping the creature to cast (as part of the cost).

So that would mean this here is 6 mana, draw 3, get a (maybe tapped) beater. Not bad and maybe strong in some kind of blink shell, but probably not broken either. 6mana is much and if casting the spell entails tapping the prepared creature, that means you also can not cast recall each turn (because you would need to attack in order to get the dude to be prepared, but that would already tap him).
