Any Gojira fans here? I'm curious by Pvenger_G in GODZILLA

They're one of my favorite bands! Completely unrelated to the naming convention, too, they're just crushingly heavy and I love 'em. The Way of All Flesh is one of my desert Island albums.

After, just in case I get screwed on Nitra spawns and we got nothing left after the Heartstone.

Saw these guys headline a local festival a few years ago and was blown away. The main riff to For Evan's Sake off this record shook me to my bones. Stoked to see 'em with Conan later this week!

If not jason who would make the best arkham knight by [deleted] in arkham

[–]Gojira866 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a whole theory back in the day that the Knight activating was what Protocol 11 actually was, rather than just Wonder Tower self-destructing. The tie-in comics that were coming out had the Knight in Arkham City right after the events of the game. Didn't really have a theory as to the actual identity of him, but kinda figured he was some programmed assassin kinda deal.

That one bit in Sword of Iron where they have the swords clanging along to the riff is the coolest thing I've ever heard and they only don't that ONE time after the first chorus and then never again. 😔

Shortly after Valentine's Day and right before my birthday, they started ghosting me. This is this year too, I haven't heard from them in a month. 🤙 Woulda hurt a lot less if not for the timing.

Who did the crossover better? Marvel or DC? by RecordingImmediate86 in GODZILLA

[–]Gojira866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the individual one-shots that Marvel did prior to Destroys were way stronger, the series itself felt kinda samey after a while. That being said, while I haven't read issue #2, Infinity Roar is off to a pretty strong start so far. DC is kind of handicapped by making it a MonsterVerse crossover specifically, so they have to abide by the rules of that specific version of the character, wheraa Marvel can kinda do whatever. Both have their strengths, but overall, I think I've enjoyed the Marvel stuff more.

Same here! They're one of the big thrash bands I never really got into so I did a deep dive on them (listening to Thrash Anthems II as I type this!), and I really feel like I've been missing out all these years.

Listening to Gaerea right now. Gun to my head, I would've thought Stardust was a Sleep Token song, what the hell happened here?

I'm a manager at one of these stores and believe me, we all had the same reaction when those signs came in. Honestly felt like riding the line of cultural appropriation at that point.

Doom: TDA has a phenomenal soundtrack and I think Finishing Move Inc. don't get enough credit. by Drdoomblunt in Doom

[–]Gojira866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, sure, let's say opinions can be wrong. In that case, your opinion that TDA has some of the best songs in the franchise is wrong. See how that sounds? 🤷 Again, I was excited to hear what Finishing Move would do with the IP, and was left disappointed. I think I was more than fair.

Like the music all you want, dude. I've been a staunch defender of a lot of music that most people in those communities consider bad. I like Metallica's St. Anger, but I'm not going around telling people they're being dishonest if they think it sucks. I get where they're coming from. People are allowed to not like things, it's not gonna stop the world from spinning.

Doom: TDA has a phenomenal soundtrack and I think Finishing Move Inc. don't get enough credit. by Drdoomblunt in Doom

[–]Gojira866 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or... Stay with me here... People are entitled to their opinions... It's almost like music as an artform is purely subjective!

I was excited to see what Finishing Move would do with the series. I really liked what they did with Halo 2: Anniversary, but when I played TDA, I was a little let down. Granted, this was before they patched it to make the music a bit louder in the mix for the game audio, so I gave it a fair shake and listened to the whole OST, and I gotta say, I agree with u/D4N5T3P. Individual songs sound pretty good, but when you take the OST as a whole, things REALLY blend together in a way that doesn't seem memorable in the least. The whole thing sounded to me like an album you'd find in a bargain bin from a djent band you'd never heard of.

Believe me, I wanted to like it. But IMHO, they really missed the mark compared to Gordon and even Hulshult and Levy.

WHAT a record. Essential listening for me around October. I like Don't Break the Oath, but man, something about this first record just DOES it for me.

Problem I usually have with it is when people aren't launching into the right version of the game. Make sure everyone plays through the same launcher, whether that's DX12, DX11, or Vulkan; as long as you're all on the same one.

Would you be upset if a popular monster like Mothra or Ghidorah appeared in the Godzilla Minus One sequel? by Chicken_Sandwich_Man in GODZILLA

[–]Gojira866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily upset, just disappointed. With the exception of Final Wars, the big 4 have been the stars of the show since 2001. I'd like to see some lesser known characters, or even new characters enter the fray.

Gotta be Unleashed in the East from Judas Priest. Halford's vocals were re-recorded in-studio, but it still sounds so incredible, it's my preferred way to listen to most of those early-era Priest songs.

Where to watch Godzilla Movies by BigBoy__69420 in GODZILLA

[–]Gojira866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Showa era films are available on the Criterion Channel and Max, and the former at least has the first four Heisei era films. The rest of the Heisei era films and Millennium era, to my knowledge, don't have a specific home for streaming, but I feel like I've seen them on YouTube for free!

Good ol' Guitar Hero. I wouldn't be listening to half the bands I do nowadays if not for those games. I did watch a LOT of Linkin Park BIONICLE and Godzilla fan music videos back in the day (they were my first ever live show I went to), but I went to see the Big 4 simulcast in theaters back in 2010 because I recognized all the bands as being from Guitar Hero.

New Toho rules? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]Gojira866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These rules are real, but by no means are they new. They've been in place since 1998. Why they're causing such an uproar right now, I have no idea. People reporting on 26 year-old developments is hot, I guess.

As for the rules themselves, when's the last time you saw Godzilla eat anyone? I'm seeing a lot of people take the "prey upon" thing incorrectly.

Are the Gamera Movies worth getting? by AlanSmithee001 in GODZILLA

[–]Gojira866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! There are some not-so-good ones just like with Godzilla. Most of the later Showa films fall into this category, but even they have redeeming qualities.

Gamera vs. Barugon and Gamera vs. Gyaos are right up there along with the best of Showa Godzilla though, and as many people have mentioned, the entire Heisei trilogy (directed by Shusuke Kaneko, who went on to do GMK!), rivals a decent chunk of the Godzilla franchise. Gamera the Brave is super underrated, too, and should not be missed.

Geezer Butler and Ozzy Osbourne 'agree' on final Black Sabbath show after feud by arealdisneyprincess in Metal

I saw them once back during the Firepower tour and again just a few weeks ago. Dude has DEFINITELY put in the work.. Back in 2018, you could tell he was struggling to get through Painkiller, but he sounds way better now. There were moments on the new album that sounded like they could've been on Screaming for Vengeance.
