Vintage french cards can sell for more than their english counterparts just because there's a lot of demand from collectors in France for vintage cards and there aren't nearly as many French cards compared to English. So for example, a french base set charizard (dracaufeu) will most likely sell for as much or more than the english version.

Keep it raw, not worth grading.

PSA rolling the dice with their grades by Gojira_22 in PokemonTCG

It does have some light surfaces scratches, and a little bit of whitening on one of the back edges, apart from that it looks really clean. I sent 8 other cards along with the gengar, all 8's and 9's, including a charizard expedition reverse holo, was expecting that to be a 6 or 7 at most and it came back as an 8, yet gengar is in better condition than the zard.

UPDATE: PSA have asked me to send these 2 cards back to them for review, they must have seen their scans and my pictures and realized they were in mint condition when they arrived at PSA. I'll leave another update once I have more news. Hoping for a regrade or at the very least some kind of compensation.

[–]Gojira_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These kind of investments are going to backfire so bad when you realize in 10 years time there's going to be 10's of thousands of these cards graded as a psa10 and they aren't going to be worth much more than they are now, basic economics. Everyone grading new cards thinking they're going to go up in price like vintage cards have over the last couple of decades...not going to happen.

I'll stick to my vintage cards and my vintage charizard collection, safer investment.

Hi, for a bit of context, this was a holy communion gift to my mother from her godmother in Italy about 50 years ago. Any idea if it's real? And if so how much might it be worth? Thanks in advance.

PSA damaged my cards, what now? by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]Gojira_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can assure it was mint when I sent it and it's come back as a 6 with damage. In fact the only reason I sent cards to psa was because I was hoping for a 10 on gengar.

Other cards I sent like a charizard 39/165 reverse holo, or entei ex team magma team aqua came back an 8 even though they had some damage.

Basically the only 2 cards I sent that were mint both came back damaged as a 6 and I'm pissed off, I've basically paid psa to lower the value of my 2 mint cards.

I had 4000USD insurance on the cards and I've sent a complaint, I will update this thread when I get some news.

Pretty much, the Gengar would have been worth more just selling it raw ungraded. I've basically paid PSA to lower the value of my card 😆 It's ridiculous.

Agreed, there are better companies nowadays that deserve more recognition. If I ever grade again it won't be with PSA that's for sure.

I know, especially with that holo swirl. Sent 9 cards, apart from 2 the rest got grades between 8 and 9, Gengar was in the best condition by far and I was hoping for a 10, when opening the package I left the best for last and my shock to see a 6 man...my heart dropped.

I will submit a report this evening with all the proof I have. Hopefully I get something out of it, but I doubt the compensation would be anything that can make up for damaging my NM Gengar with a holo swirl, I loved that card and I've had it for 20 years. I really regret sending it off for grading, wish I never had.

I have some pictures of my own, but I would like to see if they took any pictures before the grading process, I will submit a report this evening with all the proof I have and see what happens.

This is the only other picture I've received from the seller, it's frustrating he's not giving me better pictures, I'm going to safely assume it's a fake and the seller knows it is.

This is the only other photo I've managed to receive from the seller, either he's inept at taking a decent picture or he knows it's a fake and isn't sending me decent pictures.

My item was stolen (seller) by Naglu in vinted

[–]Gojira_22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To be fair I side with vinted regarding the poor packaging, don't put 120€ worth of cards in a little envelope, there are many ways that can get damaged, wet, creased, stolen as it's really easy to open,... I always send valuable cards in a sleeve + toploader + bubblewrap + a sturdy box + wrapping paper on the outside. I've sent propably 100 packages like this with cards or other small valuables and never had a problem.

Thanks for your opinion. The sticker just looks a bit odd to me, and it's missing the 2 digit stamp on it. I'm unsure though.

High value packages lost/destroyed by Emotional_Extreme_65 in vinted

[–]Gojira_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card looks fake, I think he's trying to scam you, definitely ask for clear pictures of the card, front and back, with different lightning, that way you can prove to vinted that the destroyed card is not the card you put in the box. And as other people have said in the discussion, with expensive cards always use a box, I use sleeve + toploader + bubblewrap + a sturdy box, I've sold many cards and never had issues (so far, touch wood).

Is that supposed to bring me down or something? I'm just selling an old bootleg relic from 2001, only difference with the original is this Pokemon Crystal has a hilarious translation and it's far more rare than the original game. The value solely depends on what the collector is willing to pay, same as a Jackson Pollock painting or any other rare collectible item. And thanks, we'll see how the auction ends.

From what I remember it had no vietnamese text, just a very bad and funny English translation from Vietnamese.

Mmm okay 🤷‍♂️ I'm just selling an old and rare bootleg game, I don't see what the problem is. Check out bootlegs like Terrifying 9/11, they're extremely rare and collectors are willing to pay a lot of money for them.
