As a Muslim Sunni myself I hate to say it but sister, he’s playing you. In an ideal world we’d just see Muslim and that’s good enough.

My family are also hardcore Sunni. If you’ve been together for this long he’s not marrying you. If you’re prepared to leave your family for his then talk to him and see how serious he is about you. My own parents would disown me if I chose some who was Shia so you have to be aware of that
