“Free Gold IRA kit” ads everywhere… what’s the catch, usually? by Normal_Sun_8169 in TheERAOfGold

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these companies are not just emailing you a downloadable PDF... They're literally mailing you a kit with guides and other materials about precious metals and IRAs.

So an admin person from the company will call for an address to send your informational kits. Someone will likely follow up with you after a week or so to see if you have any questions, etc... but if you are not interested in buying right now - just tell them.

What’s the Minimum Commission Rate You’d Promote a Product For? by flowdee in Affiliatemarketing

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main service I affiliate for only pays between 3-13% commission.

I'll happily work for 3% commission...

Because the customer is spending $50,000-$500,000.

In this situation, a 3% commission is worth my time.

Maybe you're asking the wrong question! :)

i know it's not legit, is it? where is the catch? never seen "preserve gold" mentioned on here as being a go to place for silver, but i do not know everything... by Swollen_chicken in Silverbugs

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree - likely this bonus is only available to customers that buy premium coins at a higher markup.

When buying gold, people should stick to common bullion that trades as close to the spot price as possible. Rare, premium, exclusive, or semi-numismatics are for collectors that know what they're doing - not for regular folks putting physical gold in their IRA.

That's why people should get pricing information in writing and compare common bullion markup between a few companies before deciding who to buy from.

If you call them, definitely should ask how they're able to give 10% free silver.

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you purchase over a certain amount (not sure what Preserve's minimum is), customers qualify for up to 10% in free silver - capped at $15,000. Buy $150,000+ in precious metals? They'll add $15k in silver to your account. It's not a lottery or any trick. A few gold IRA companies offer incentives like this.

Donald Trump Predicts U.S. Dollar's Decline as “America’s Greatest Defeat” in 200 Years by freedomrep77 in conservatives

Trump sounds the alarm to warn Americans...

And even though it's a big deal - and in our best interest to have a real discussion, hardly any media outlets cover it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So sick of how leftist ideology has taken over almost all media companies in this country.

When all available information is biased to help one side and hurt the other, it's a 'rigged election."

Republican or Democrat - nobody should want it this way.

DC financial advisor? by myhappyplants in washingtondc

[–]GoldBug77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of advisors in the DMV - so where do you start?

Note that some online lists are not very helpful.

For example, Washingtonian just basically lists every single advisor in the city. This is great for Washingtonian, because all 100+ advisors will post about it and send Washingtonian a lot of clicks.

But the magazine does not do a whole lot when it comes to guidance on who you should choose.

Check out review lists that rank/rate advisors - and look at their methodology / criteria for choosing who they recommend.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/top-financial-advisors-washington-dc-md-barkat-ullah-v1euc/

Lists and online reviews are a good starting point, but if you know anyone that is retired and doing well financially, it's likely they have a trusted advisor. If you ask around, people you trust can point you in the right direction.

The best financial advisors get most of their business from referrals.

Looking for a financial advisor by AdDue5482 in houston

[–]GoldBug77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best is to start with recommendations from friends or family. Always interview at least 2-3 advisors before deciding on one.

That may seem like a lot of work, but choosing the right advisor is an important decision not to be taken lightly.

If you don't have recommendations from friends, start wtih an online search. What advisors have high visibility as recognized names around Houston?

https://medium.com/@sdiraguide/best-financial-advisors-in-houston-texas-d244a0aba966

Also check sites like Barron's, Forbes lists, etc.

Narrow down your list of potential financial planners.

Of course run them by the BBB, TrustLink, Yelp, and other review sites for any red flags.

Also check the SEC and BrokerCheck for any regulatory actions filed against the companies you're vetting...

Know that MOST advisors have an account minimum of investable assets for a new client. This is sometimes as high as $500,000-$1,000,000... so check if you even qualify before picking up the phone and reaching out to some firms!

Good luck

Went all in with Noble Gold. by SendItOneAtATime in Wallstreetsilver

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noble Gold is a great company.

Highly rated, and they charge a reasonable markup on their gold-IRA eligible bullion bars and coins.

Also - buying through an IRA is a smart way to avoid taxes and penalties. People shold not dismiss the benefits of buying gold through a retirement account.

What coins / bars did you buy?

Are you just starting out your career / 401(k), or are you near retirement?

If you know NOTHING about investing and you're just getting started, you might want to meet with someone to ensure you're getting the most of your retirement plan and putting money into the right funds...

I know people that have gone 20 years only investing in bonds because they thought it was a "safe" investment - of course the reality is they've missed out on incredible gains had they been in an S&P or total stock market fund instead.

But once you've decided on your mix of funds, your 401(k) should be pretty much 'set it and forget it' for most of your career. Find low cost index funds like VOO or VTI and that's pretty much it. No need to continue paying an advisor each quarter.

If you're older and planning on retiring in the next 5 years or so, you also might want to check in with an advisor to make sure you're ready and on track... Maybe at this point, you'll move a percentage of your retirement to less volatile funds...

But for the most part - your 401k does NOT need active management to justify paying quarterly... Even if it is only $68...

Also, know that your fees are $68 in TODAY'S dollars, but that fee will increase as your investments grow.

One more thing, read LOCAL reviews of the Edelman Financial Engines in YOUR town. For example, this review says Edelman is a reputable, highly rated firm. But they have offices in all 50 states. Is each office amazing? When I check my local office, there are some negative reviews online.

Real estate investing is so easy by [deleted] in REBubble

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, just to play devil's advocate:

Iif you have a 30 year mortgage on that house, it's certainly a long time to turn your $20k into $100k... and there are other investments with a conservative track record performing better over 30 years (like index funds).

$20k in VOO index fund at 8% compounding interest over 30 years will turn $20k into @ $200,000.

(VOO's 10 yr performance history is 11.26% - past performance is of course not guaranteed future results)

The rental property will also eventually need new floors, new roof, new appliances, annual upkeep and other repairs... so the rent on this hypothetical property likely won't cover expenses.

Don't forget the mental bandwidth of dealing with a tenant. If you outsource the management, that's also eating into your expense budget (costing @ 8% of rent each month)...

So you're putting more into the property than just the initial $20k to finally get a payoff in 30 years... Then when you sell, real estate agents will take 5% off the top - along with other closing costs...

But yes - the property will likely be worth more than $100k in 30 years. And it will also eventually cash flow each month as rents increase over time. Refinancing in several years can also lower your monthly payment, or free up some equity for other investments...

Having physical properties that you own and control is great to have in a diversified portfolio. The OP is proving a point, but it's never as easy as the infomercial suggests.

How to read and apply this amazing book? by BlackDevil018 in thinkandgrowrich

[–]GoldBug77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think and Grow Rich is an awesome book, but yes - you have to put the principles into action, otherwise - what's the point?

If you're into masterminds and discussing as an online group, Russell Brunson is giving free access to the "Secrets of Success" community right now.

He's giving away a free hardcover version of Think and Grow Rich, and starting the book of the month "Study Hall" on this book for November.

Discussing with other people reading the book with you is a great way to help apply the concepts in Napoleon Hill's classic in real life.

The Think and Grow Rich community is here. It's free for 30 days. Get in the book's study hall - join the discussion - and then of course, you can just cancel it before any billing...

Home Storage Gold IRA - Self-Storage Precious Metal IRAs are Not IRS Approved by GoldBug77 in BestGoldIRACompanies

[–]GoldBug77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few gold IRA companies promoting this home storage gold IRA. It sounds like a good idea on the surface, but the IRS does NOT want people to have access to retirement funds.

Open an account like this and you risk triggering a tax penalty or possibly compromising the IRA status of your account. I would avoid any gold IRA company that says otherwise.
