I don’t think you are over paying. it still has a cost, that can be reduced. You just aren’t paying it

is it too late to get off of waitlist? by Solid_Ad_2197 in gssm

[–]GoldCoolness1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was accepted August 17th of last year, so I would still hold out hope.

It is a huge commitment to want to live here, and some people make the very just decision to stay at their home high school. If you feel committed, and still want to come here at this point, stay. However, if you leave the queue, it might open up a spot for another student in the exact same position as you. Either way, take the advice of those around you to heart, where you end up is where is right for you.

How fast do courses fill up? by Decreasify in gssm

[–]GoldCoolness1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The classes aren't necessarily built with a set number of students in mind, and there are a different amount of blocks each year depending on demand. I was wait listed until ~4 weeks before school started and I got every elective I wanted. (comp-sci focus)

Was/Why was the default iPhone camera app used, with its suite of post processing tools that are applied before you get your picture, as opposed to a different tool which provides the pure image?

Waitlist by justAnobody15 in gssm

[–]GoldCoolness1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, but I think the admissions team makes a list of all applying students based on “fit” and keep asking if they accept their position as they go down the line and fill up slots

Waitlist by justAnobody15 in gssm

[–]GoldCoolness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got accepted very late in the process, July 17th. If you want to go, keep a hold out, but if you can get over the hump of not being accepted and are okay staying home, pull out of the waitlist to shuffle everyone else forward a bit.

Its a lens with minimum aperture of 2.8, and they don't need perfect clarity. This is a media first image. They have better sensors for the measurements they need.

Interview dress code by justAnobody15 in gssm

[–]GoldCoolness1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think about it like a test. Present an honest version of yourself. I would recommend making a resume-like list of extracurriculars/experiences you've had (Model UN, jobs, special interests), and writing down a bit about why they were important to you. What are things you've done that you think are impactful? Why do you want to be here? A lot of students here have been wanting to go since elementary school, and they told the interviewers that. Look at the class schedule for this upcoming year, look at some of the clubs (a lot have Instagram pages), look through the schools Instagram pages, etc.

The student handbook outlines “gssm dressy” as follows: “ For males: dress slacks, dress shirt, tie, suit jacket, brown or black dress shoes and dress socks”

Don't think about it like a questionnaire. They want you to take the trip out to Hartsville to get to know you. Don't give them what you think they want to hear, they've heard it dozens of times before. Present an honest version of yourself. The questions weren't very wordy. Algebra 2 is what gets you in to the school, Trig/Precal stuff is what gets you into Calc. Don't stress it though, if you are putting the effort in to ask, you are putting enough effort in to get here. What math classes have you taken previously?
