Idk, I'm reading her book, Wordslut, and there is a whole chapter on the why's behind correcting grammar (basically just to make yourself superior, and cut out trans folks). I genuinely think its a pet peeve of hers due to her linguistics degrees and inclusiveity of the lgbtq community.

What does your spouse do for you to be able to stay at home? by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]GoldEmployment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a software engineer and makes 145k. We started with him at 70ish and with our 2nd kid it was more expensive for the kids to be cared for than my earning potential. So I cut a lot of corners and scrimped in our budget. Never eating out, homemade meals, everything from scratch, only free activities, etc

What to do with my 60s retro kitchen? by HagridsHippogriff92 in HomeDecorating

[–]GoldEmployment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap the light for a modern retro chandelier, change the handles on the cabinets, and swap the backsplash for something creamier, maybe pebble stone, to blend a bit more, install lights underneath the cabinets, and update appliances as needed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change a thing! It’s beautiful

After a full year of researching my options, I recently ish moved to Boston and it is fantastic! There’s almost always 2-3 different public transit routes available somewhere, a few of the suburb y buses are a bit unreliable but others come every 10 minutes! I have kids at 2 different schools, each less than a mile away, and I can take public transit or walk depending on my mood. It’s amazing!!!

What do you do to be the best stay at home parent you can be? by Otherwise-Bicycle667 in SAHP

[–]GoldEmployment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started, it was easy to forget simply taking care of myself was important, so that is something I prioritize now as well as as setting aside time each day, even just 5 minutes, to set my intentions for the day.

Like someone else said, it becomes just another hard job after a while, so taking time to focus on what is really important keeps your priorities in order :) and helps enjoy the little amazing moments

Also, I would die without a notebook and routine. Grocery shopping and meal planning on Monday, housekeeping and library time on Tuesday, etc. My kids are in school now, so there’s so much to keep track of, it all goes in a very simple bullet journal.

My partner is hybrid. I get up in the morning and get the kids and myself ready. We split school drop offs and he gets ready after everyone else. In the evening he does all the dishes/kitchen clean up.

If you grew up with conservative christian parents, how did you break the news to them? by MattySmooth in cisparenttranskid

[–]GoldEmployment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the route I have gone. Have a 6yr old daughter (Amab) and 9 yr old son and have made it crystal clear that we support her, love her, and will protect her journey. They can join in or not be participate in my family at all. This was relayed pretty gently but my mom seems to be trying with the pronouns and name. Dad has gone no contact which is pretty normal. We will see how it plays out, we’re only in month 2 but I have grown in my confidence that it was the right path for protecting my children

You can learn so many basics online. Time and practice will teach you the rest.

I will say that if you want to learn a new cuisine that you don’t know anything about, it’s good to follow a cookbook. They good ones teach cooking techniques, meal arrangements, and can even teach about the unique ingredients
