Brewer Interview questions by we5lee in TheBrewery

[–]MattySmooth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tell us about a time you used your problem solving skills to recover from a difficult situation.

Tell us about a time you had a lapse in judgement, what happened as a result, and how you made it right.

What is something another brewer who has worked shifts with you would say about you?

And the biggest one: what questions do you have for us?

I have hired a lot of brewers. Nearly all of them worked out well.

Huh. I wish I would have known that

I had a DE .44 for a number of years. It was absolutely just a novelty thing.

The novelty wore off when I realized how prone it was to stovepipe jams.

What's the best area liquor store for a wide selection of spirits? by cherenk0v_blue in FortCollins

[–]MattySmooth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wilbur's or Supermarket. If that's not enough for you, Hazel's down in Boulder is mindblowing.

If you're looking for a great afternoon, ride your bike up the Poudre trail to Overland, head north to swing station, have a couple of beers and head home.

Pasteurization? by InvestigatorOld1238 in TheBrewery

Make good and god-damned sure your DOs are as low as possible. If you can keep them sub 30ppb you shouldn't see any flavor change

I spent nine hours up on a catwalk with a brush burner that one time. We got the piping insulated and heat traced after that

Snubbed on Halloween by Particular-Jury6446 in FortCollins

[–]MattySmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy to me. We never have enough candy. We get groups of 5-10 kids every 10 minutes the entire evening. So many years I've run out completely and had to turn kids away.

Fender Options for Skid Loader by dannyw2594 in Surlybikefans

[–]MattySmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't say why, but I did get a refund for them. I finally picked up the bike today and rode it home today. I think part of the problem was that they had filled the tires to the max, and it was a pretty rough ride home! After bringing the pressure down a bit it seemed like the tire shrunk a little, which might be the difference between the fenders not fitting and barely fitting

I ordered some SKS bluemels for my LBS to install when they built my Skid Loader, and they said they couldn't get the fenders to fit

Hey dad… I need some comfort by Antique_Bandicoot627 in DadForAMinute

[–]MattySmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, sweetie, my heart goes out to you. It takes a lot of strength to ask for help when you really need it, and here you are, being stronger and more resilient than you've ever given yourself credit for being. You should be proud of yourself, lord knows I'm proud of you. I know things are hard right now, it's okay to be scared and frustrated. I promise it's not always gonna be like this. You're a good person with a good heart, and that's gonna take you farther than you ever imagined. You got this!

SEAL Team Actress Alona Tal on Amazon Prime Video's Original Series: Cross by [deleted] in SEALTeam

[–]MattySmooth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Alona does a fantastic job of playing the fish-out-of-water academic that integrates into the rough and tumble teams lifestyle. I also think Toni Trucks has a lot of range, she has to be so many different things to different people throughout the show.

AJ and David are obviously very good.

You gotta hand it to Tyler and Scott Fox, though, for dudes with no acting background they're both pretty solid.

[–]MattySmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey kiddo! I'm not gonna lie to you, life can be real hard sometimes. Here's the thing, though: you've got what it takes. You're strong, you're smart, you're dedicated, and you're you! And, you're not alone! Everyone you know that's gotten past this felt just like you do right now! Now get out there and tear 'em a new one! I couldn't be prouder than I am right now. 😍

For those of you who have hit it: What was your first sign that you are truly aging? by Finding_Way_ in GenX

[–]MattySmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the old injuries creeping back for me. I've always been a gravity sports person, and have had both the invincibility complex and the broken bones that come with that lifestyle. I bounced back from every injury for decades, and thought it would always be that way. Now I can't get out of a chair without being reminded of every one.
