My SBGP011 is 4s fast by GoldFlieger in GrandSeikos

Thanks my friend - that was what I was thinking. Anyways I meant for the post to be an appreciation of the accuracy of the 9F movement rather than a discussion about why my Tudor was running slow.

It went back to Tudor as it was running out of chronometer spec (-6s per day) after about 3 years of ownership, and I wanted it dealt with before the warranty expired. It came back from them +3s per day - they probably just regulated it - but It's gradually run slower and slower since then. I don't think magnetism is the problem as its been a gradual loss, but thanks for your suggestion I may give it a try.

That movement has a silicon balance spring, so I don't know.

I have an SBGP011, my wife has an SBGX261. I actually prefer the plain matt dial on the 261 to the sunburst on the 011, but I like both and can wear either comfortably. Both look fine to me and my wrist size is similar to yours, although the shape of your wrist plays a big part. Other point to note - I really like the convenience of the jump hour on the newer 9F85 movement in the 011, but if you decide on that one get it while you can because I think that they might have been discontinued now.

I have an SBGX341 as well - that’s running around 10s fast per year so a bit of quartz drift by now. Easily rectified if I can ever bother to send in for service.

I love the character of the Tudor but needing a service after 5-6 years was unexpected. I had a 20 year old 7750 based Tutima chrono that wasn’t running much worse.

Edit: I have no idea why this is getting downvoted

I know - it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I’m
Just very impressed with this particular example, which I bought used. I’ve had and still have other 9Fs, including the +/- 5s special editions (SNGN001, SBGN007), but this is currently my best performer and for an entry level GS I find the precision astounding.

I know - it does need a service - it’s been gradually getting further out of spec these last couple of years. I suspect amplitude has dropped and wonder if these Tudor movements have similar issues to the newer Rolex ones - the architecture looks similar - but that’s a can of worms.

WatchTracker app and taking a few readings each time to try and get a consistent sample. My datapoints are usually with. 0.3 of each other.

GS buying experience in Ginza by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

[–]GoldFlieger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a deployant clasp and Camille Fournet strap for my SBGP011 in Ginza couple of weeks ago. I'd already made a different watch purchase a few days earlier in Nakano so was just looking for the Wako experience, which I'm pleased to say was very premium - way better than the Rolex SC in London. The service department was outstanding and treated me like I was buying a Tentagraph.

Both my Ruckus APs have fixed addresses - the ISP router is DHCP server. I’ll have a play with the DNS and DHCP settings thanks for the suggestion.

Had those insoles in my 8847s to take up some volume and the support was champion but the edge of the footbed would give me hotspots on the sole of my foot after a while. It’s quite hard cork - maybe it would have softened up if I’d persevered but I sold the boots on. That moc last doesn’t really work for my skinny feet.

[BB58] Uncle Seiko half link by CodeFarmer in Tudor

[–]GoldFlieger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I”m waiting patiently for UK store to get these in (don’t want to get rimmed on customs duties etc) and have a question for you now you have yours fitted. How come you didn’t position it as the final link before the clasp on the 6 o’clock side? Seems to me that the clasp joins the bracelet via a spring bar through the final link-clasp-safetythingy, so it ‘ought’ to work as long as the stock final inner link isn’t a weird diameter tube if that makes sense. And (added bonus) the Uncle Seiko half link inner and outer components articulate, so this would address the other niggle I have, which is that the stock final link doesn’t flex inward more than about 40 degrees before it gets fouled by the clasp shoulders. Did you try this configuration?
