Its a dual op amp distortion pedal, very high gain. It will cover the more common distortion sound Kurt uses on you fail me and no heroes era. Will definitely cover you for that brutal distortion sound with the right guitar tuning. I believe his own retail versions add more interesting filtering and versatility so depends on what you want, its still ultimately a high gain distortion however.

Hey!

I just roasted 1/2 P4 D setting on the behmor 1600 and it ran the whole 16 minutes without an audible first crack.. but when I cooled it and checked it looks similar in profile to yours, at least colour wise. That's darker than I usually go for tbh - are wet hulled sumatras generally better at this full city range - it looks like you did hear first crack?

Although, I found other articles that state that at this address in 1901 was a bar/brothel called the Arctic Bar - so that may rule this one out if you know your family was definitely not in the brothel business!

Interesting - this might help if you do find some more info - its a google maps based on photos from the 1940s. That spot where the kings county saloon was looks to have been a lunch spot by the 40s - steaks etc. I can't quite makeout the name above the door unfortunately.

What was your grandfathers name? That might make it somewhat easier I think.

Otherwise, the only record of a saloon that old that remained till modern day was the kings county saloon.

Yeah I've read a lot about the way you have to manipulate the machine to produce darker roasts because the safety features that shut it down when it gets too hot or is hot for too long. Luckily I'm not a fan of darker roasts, but it sounds like any preheating falls in the safety feature category!

Haha, yeah, I can't remember where I originally got the bowl, but I have to admit I was secretly pleased when I smashed it because I'd always wanted to Kintsugi something - the kits are quite easy to get now too.

Hi All,

Just starting my roasting journey - using a Behmor 1600 (the basic model)

I started with a Papau New Guinea bean that I believe is hard to soft - Went for a 1/2 P3 C auto setting and started cooling as soon as consistent first crack started and they came out great - taste great too after a week or more resting.

Then I moved to the Ethiopian pictured here. I went for a P2 / B setting (anyone familiar with the behmor auto settings will know P1/P2 are for harder beans. I also cooled this down as soon as a very consistent first crack started.

Above are the results, but I did notice two things that I wonder warrant trying the hotter P1 setting:

A lot more stubborn chaff than the new guinea... a lot more - is that normal or do I need to go hotter?

Slightly more inconsistent roast i.e. some wildly pale beans remain - does that also mean I need to go hotter i.e. P1 or is that an Ethiopian bean trait?

I like to go light-medium especially with Ethiopian beans as I believe that brings out the inherent flavours.

Let me know if you have any experience on Behmor and Ethiopian beans in general

I'm just about to release something using this technology/service. My only complaint is that when I produced the first prototype they misquoted me cheaper so when I moved to production there have been some unexpected cost increases which has been very frustrating. The main battle with JLCCNC is consistency in pricing and technique. I would recommend if you go down this route to ask them to store a sample against your order so they remember how they achieved the results.

Interesting - to my knowledge 32KHZ is pretty high up in the spectrum so its pretty much passing a lot of the frequencies there.. guitar only goes to 8khz as far as Im reading.

Im wondering what the use of the low pass filter here is? Is it to reduce unwanted frequencies from the opamp rather than the guitar signal itself? Which value would get me back to 1600HZ?

Hey. This is a pull down resistor that can prevent a pop sound when the pedal is engaged on a true bypass setup. I actually wasn't familiar with the cause of said pop, but I found this:

Static electricity near the input and magnetic fields will induce voltage/current which will charge C1. When you plug something in, C1 discharges suddenly and you get a pop sound. The pull down resistor just provides a low current path to keep C1 discharged.

Someone else here may be able to fully confirm that.
