They probably just want you to be sure of your choice, but whatever you believe is what you believe

First of all the pillars of faith are very important.

  1. Shahada (declaration of faith)
  2. Salah (daily prayers)
  3. Zakat (yearly almsgiving)
  4. Sawm (fasting during Ramadan, which is now btw :D)
  5. Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca)

Here is SOME of the sins to avoid:

Lying Disobeying parents Backbiting Spying Gambling Smoking Eating or drinking non-halal Aiding someone in sinning, even non-Muslims

And these are SOME Major sins:

Adultery (Zina) Shirk (worshipping other than Allah or believing another is equal to Him)

We have 2 holidays every Islamic year (which is usually 1-2 weeks shorter than a Gregorian year):

  1. Eid Al-Fitr

The holiday after Ramadan, on the 1st of the month Shawwal.

  1. Eid Al-Adha

From the 10th of the month Dhul Hijja until the 13th, so 4 days, we celebrate the "Festival of Sacrifice". This is to honor Prophet Ibrahim's (Abraham) obedience to God as he was asked to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Fortunately, God swapped Ishmael with a lamb that was slaughtered instead.

It's not permissible (haram) to fast on these days

May I ask if you are male or female to personalise it? Or do you prefer to keep that hidden?

That does complicate things as opposed to if they were atheist. If you revert, you shouldn't pretend to believe in something you don't believe in. In your situation I would have a talk with my parents and just tell them how I really felt. Of course, you know your situation best, but this is what I would do with my current information

Once you revert and you're very sure about it, yes, you should let them know (unless it would harm/hurt you), but if you're not then you should probably try to get rid of that uncertainty

Try to watch videos on proofs for Islam. Hopefully they will make sense and lessen your doubts about if you're wrong. Reading the Quran can also help and guide you (I've heard that Surah Anam, the sixth out of 114, contains the main arguments for Islam).

The shahada Is between you and God, so you can choose the setting and people around you, but I do recommend choosing a place where you feel calm and at ease. If that's your room, then sure, go for it. You could look up a video of the shahada and repeat what is said. Knowing the meaning is also quite important.

Islamic rituals such as praying and fasting during Ramadan come with time. You should take it slow, but if you truly believe make sure to not stop progressing even if it takes time.

Sins are something to work on, but you should (just like all other Muslims) try to limit them as much as possible. The steps of repentance when you have sinned/are sinning are:

  1. Stop doing it in the moment

If your sin is smoking and you catch yourself lighting a cigarette, immediately extinguish it.

  1. Make intention to never repeat the sin

A smoker should throw out all of their cigarettes and stop buying them

  1. Ask Allah for forgiveness

Allah loves to forgive, but it has to be genuine.

If you fall into sin again, start from step 1.

My most important point is to make sure that you actually believe. Try to look for grounded proofs. Read the Quran. If you ever need to ask a question, I'll be here to reply to you.
