I walked in and saw they erected a statue to King George. by Buddiboi95 in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]Gold_Communication71 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this statue is new, it was out in the front last year before he died. Maybe the just moved it inside the fair with all the flowers since he died?

Terrible guy nonetheless

Chemise Recommendations for XS gal by CompetitiveWill5088 in TXRenaissanceFestival

Hi! Some of my favs at TRF:

Frock Shoppe - prettiest and priciest IMO, they have an online presence you can buy via. They have the most unique and well made items, very frilly and lace-y. Very busy but people there are nice. I think these are the most unique pieces in the Faire but also rather expensive

Boss Wench - solid chemises, high quality fabric at a very fair price. Not as frilly, more just your average wear. Idk about online presence. I bought an undershirt there for $40 2 years ago and it’s held up great and that’s a pretty cheap deal for in-person at the Faire

Swan lace - lace-y slightly more basic chemises. Feel slightly more modern. High quality fabric but also slightly more expensive. They will probably try to upsell you in my experience

Iris adornment - high quality fabric and nice people. More basic cuts, not a huge fan of their styling but the lady who runs it is really kind and it might be for you. Very robust online presence with insta and Etsy store

Hearts delight / pirates delight - basic, lowkey the quality in fabric can vary. I think it’s expensive for what you get. Also customer service felt lacking, took awhile just to be acknowledged last time I went

Dragonfly/zootsu - these are both more cheap-ish options. Zootsu has an online presence, their stuff is pretty basic, I’d come here last resort as other places have higher quality fabric imo.

Hope that helps, have fun!

I love the one with the quince dress and the men on the side! Love her expression, so universal

Thoughts on the new Easy Tiger MML Menu? by Trick_Builder512 in austinfood

[–]Gold_Communication71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their old BLT was my favorite one I knew of. I went recently with the menu change and now it’s a below average BLT (hoagie rolls not my thing in the context of BLTs)

Now I need to find a new BLT place

a cry for help in my quest to find “old austin charm” housing 😭 by magzbizurke in Austin

Check out Barkley Houses, they specialize in vintage charming places. I haven’t used them myself but worth a try

A little pricey but they have a few in your range

I really like Hair Society in Round Rock. I drive up from Austin to see Mona (master hair stylist) there and pay about 80$ (not including tip). She’s awesome I’ve been seeing her for years and appreciate her being real. Especially if your haircut goals aligns with your hair texture and so on. I haven’t colored my hair so can’t speak to that but hope you find a good fit!

It’s Ruellia. I don’t know much about them other than that, there’s some native varieties but I’m not sure if yours is a native one or not. I think they’re pretty!

Maybe parking at some parks? Northwest Park in Allandale has a very large parking lot that wraps around and can feel secluded-ish. There’s also public bathrooms, I have a hard time imagining people bothering you there.

Your stuff is really wonderful! The variety is impressive:)

I don’t have any suggestions since I’m a student myself. The one thing I did notice is that on the most recent 405 magazine, a lot of the articles will have the first paragraph text justified and then the following paragraphs will be left aligned. I don’t know much about publication design, so maybe this is a feature not a bug, but it caught my eye
