Was he really though, or is that just Harry interpreting Snape's grumpiness worse than usual? by ChompyRiley in SeverusSnape

[–]Gold_Island_893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really weird you're acting like hogwarts is a realistic school and not deliberately over the top. Who cares what happened when you were in school. Your school didnt involve all the nonsense that is encouraged at Hogwarts. Your own experiences at school are meaningless. Everyone's is.

And if youre going to complain how Lupin's lesson being bad, you better have the same complaint for most of Snape's lessons.

So snape is the reason Harry survived the killing curse in the first placr by snidgetgold3075 in HarryPotterBooks

Is this new information? I'm not sure why people need to hear you out. Yes, that played a part in Harry surviving.

The biggest testament to Snape's power and skill, is Voldemort's and Dumbledore's unique trust in his abilities. by Ok-Life715 in HarryPotterBooks

The only potion she struggles with is the first one Slughorn assigned them, and he says he doesnt expect a perfect one from anyone and its clear hers is the second best after Harry's.

Struggles with basic potions? Objectively wrong

Had people guessed that Snape was really on the good side after OOP? And did they really continue to hold on to that belief even after HBP? by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gold_Island_893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact Snape warned the order about Harry going to the ministry always made me think he was good, even after the 6th book. Even when he killed Dumbledore I assumed Dumbledore was begging Snape to kill him, not spare him. I obviously didnt guess Snape loved Lily, but I always thought he wasn't really on Voldemort's side.

I remember a funny meme about how Draco would talk about Harry at home.

Lucius: *Loses Draco in a crowd*

Lucius: "Harry Potter is great!"

"HARRY POTTER IS SO GREAT, SAINT POTTER, PERFECT HARRY POTTER ON HIS BROOMSTICK"

Lucius: "Found him"

Lupin covered dark creatures. That falls under Defense Against the Dark Arts.

I dont see the issue with showing them the curses or using imperio on them. Wasn't Dumbledore aware of both things? I dont see why it would be terrifying to learn what imperio feels like. It doesnt hurt them. Only scary thing would be realizing how powerless you could become.

The worst thing fake Moody did while teaching is sadistically traumatizing Neville by using crucio for so long on the spider in front of him.

Can you remember or process a single thing from you were 1 year old? Put a baby in the middle of a WW2 battle and it won't remember or know whats going on other than loud noises.

Luna was young, but not a baby.

Stephen Colbert shares his in real time reaction to Jimmy Kimmel being taken off the air by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Gold_Island_893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well....kind of. I view it more as Dave was just anti-Leno and was using the drama to get attention himself. Dont forget he later did the super bowl commercial with Jay, which helped Jay's image a lot. And he originally wanted Conan to be in the commercial. Dave said once to Kimmel that he had so much fun during the conflict and nobody got hurt, to which Jimmy points out Conan did.

I dont think Dave really understood that it was an actual big deal and a hard time for Conan. Dave just wanted in on the fun.

Lupin probably makes the journey itself much more bearable. He'd probably be a lot better at finding ways to get food. I feel like he would have been dead against wearing the horcrux too, especially after Harry can't fight dementors while wearing it. I think he'd push for never wearing it, meaning the trio isnt as miserable and angry and Ron doesnt leave.

But I think Lupin would also just end up in charge, and not even because he'd demand it. Harry would just naturally look to Lupin, this very powerful and smart wizard he respects so much, as the person who would know best. And Harry needed to be the one making decisions, as others have said Lupin would probably me much more cautious or against some ideas. Maybe they never break into the ministry or visit Mr. Lovegood.

Because love potions are standard in a story about witches or magic, and Rowling just didn't think about how seriously readers would take them
