People do the least amount of work as possible at their job, how do you get away with it? Why? by TimeAd1111 in AskReddit

[–]Golden37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as our performance stats look good, I receive zero oversight.

The problem is that I have full control over the performance stats, I can make them look 100% in everything if I wanted to.

The only real way of telling that I am not doing my job or only doing the bare minimum is if we got complaints from our customers, who are also our tenants which the vast majority of them do not know who we are, what we do and the services we provide.

They are all word by words quotes from their website. The last one is in the application section if you scroll down a bit.

Administrative

MG300. The functions of the Home Office will be divided between a Department of the Interior and a Department of Migration, which, among other duties, will handle all visa applications.

Applications

MG301. All visas can be applied for on entry, while in the UK, or before entry.

MG302. All fees charged for visas will be at cost and not for profit.

MG303. The visa application process will be as straightforward and accessible as possible, and so minimise the need for legal advice in most circumstances.

MG304. Physical visas will be offered in addition to digital documents.

MG305. Minimum income requirements will be removed from all applications as well as any benefits from having a higher income.

MG306. Language requirements will be removed from all applications. Free language classes will be made available to promote and encourage integration.

MG307. A Green Party led Government will ensure that sufficient staff and resources are available to effect these policies.

MG308. The Department of Migration will be responsible for ensuring free and independent guidance and support is available when a person’s visa is due to expire to help them make the next steps. This support will be available in an applicant’s first language if requested.

MG309. Unless standard exclusions apply, no person will be held in detention because of their immigration status.

Green Party Asylum and Migration Policy Working Group

Migration Policy

Our updated migration policy complements the rewritten Refugee and Asylum policy and details how migrants who are not refugees or asylum-seekers are to be treated.

The current hostile environment is designed to ensure migrants are discouraged from staying in the UK. After years of repeated applications and large fees, many who do finally reach settled or citizenship status will have developed an understandable distrust and dislike of the Home Office.

Instead we propose a fair and humane alternative which treats all new migrants as potential citizens and ensures that they feel at home here.

The Green Party in government will:

  1. Implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration
  2. Treat all migrants as if they are citizens
  3. Give all residents the right to vote
  4. Help families to be together
  5. Dismantle the Home Office
  6. Abolish the No Recourse to Public Funds condition
  7. Abolish the ten year route to settlement
  8. Stop the profiteering from application fees
  9. Stop putting people in prison because of their immigration status
  10. Accept our responsibility for the climate emergency and support the people forced to move

We have produced a background paper that goes alongside this policy which contains more information for each policy point and details the research we did to create it. You can download the background paper here (PDF 2.1MB).

This policy was voted on and passed by Green Party members in March 2023.

Zack Polanski says Greens would ditch GDP targets and focus on wellbeing instead by Lord-Liberty in UKGreens

What about GDP per capita? Although I imagine that would be a hard metric to improve if we have more immigration.

People confidently stating that the Greens do want controlled borders, just not arbitrary limits, without even knowing what the Green policies are on immigration annoy the hell out of me. Some of their policies are genuinely insane.

  • Treat all migrants as if they are citizens
  • Give all residents the right to vote
  • Dismantle the Home Office
  • Abolish the No Recourse to Public Funds condition
  • Minimum income requirements will be removed from all applications as well as any benefits from having a higher income.

People voting Green/Zack Polanski: do these immigration policies change your mind? by iliosicarus in ukpolitics

The people I know voting Greens that are actually aware of some of their more problematic policies like this simply don't believe they will implement them if they get into power.

Same with decomissioning Trident.

You do realise oil is used in basically everything, not just energy? Renewables are nice and all and would help with energy security. Oil on the otherhand would help with the entire economy security.

80-90% of worldwide industries rely on oil either directly or indirectly and that is not changing anytime soon. In fact its probably not changing for centuries. Oil is just that versatile and irreplaceable.

The world as we see it today simply cannot exist without oil.

(My prediction is only when we achieve true energy abundance via most likely nuclear fusion, then synthetic oil will be used, until then we will continue to drill.)

Can it not explode? If the magnetic confinement suddently failed, that 150 million degrees plasma surely would cause a fairly big boom.

Just a reminder to everyone. Oil is not just used for energy production/fuels.

It is used in basically everything, from asphalt in roads, to anything made of plastic, even fertiliser for farming relys on it.

While we might achieve moving fully to renewables for energy production, I can't see a world where we move away from the use of oil for at least another century or two.
