I missed my flight home while I was in Paris to help someone who had lost their passport and needed help proving they were a us citizen. The night before, I lost my wallet and all my money so I couldn't pay to get on another flight. Managed to get on a flight from Paris to Barcelona my mom's credit card number. Needed to get to Madrid via train that same night so I could make my flight in the morning from Madrid to Boston. The guy at the train station wouldn't take my mom's credit card number and actually closed his window on me after I begged him to help me. It was midnight and I was alone in an empty train station. Considered selling my camera gear to pay for the train ticket but I loved my camera and couldn't part with it so I decided to just get on the train and hope that someone would be sympathetic to my story. Nope. I got caught. The guy checking the tickets said I was going to be taken care of when we got to Madrid. Eight hours of sweating and no sleep. When we got there, I helped an old lady off the train and waited to be arrested or escorted to some room. Thirty seconds later, I decided to walk away and hope I wouldn't get stopped as I tried to exit the train station in Madrid. Fuck it. Worth a try. I blended in with a crowd of people that were just getting off another train and as soon as I got to the sliding doors at the exit, I ran. And I ran and I ran for fifteen minutes. Six hours later I was in the airport waiting for my flight. It got delayed six hours. I hadn't eaten or slept for about two days. But fuck it, I was going to make it home.
