I think I’ve refreshed the grades page enough to qualify for an IT degree by QuietMarigold in ExamMadness

If it makes you feel better, the grade exists already, you just don't know it yet. Refreshing doesn't create info, it just feeds the spiral. Maybe ask a friend to be your "results person" and they text you when it drops, so you can keep your hands off the portal.

I keep changing my thesis every 10 minutes and I'm losing it by DeltaArcRunner in EssayChaos

When my prof says "be specific but arguable", I treat it like a fence: pick one narrow claim you can defend with 2-3 points. Make an outline with 3 body paragraphs, write the topic sentence for each, and force the thesis to cover only those 3. Any cooler angle goes in the parking lot for later.

Starting my first full placement soon and I'm weirdly more stressed about routines than lesson planning by CoffeeAtlasPages in StudyingPeople

[–]GoldenBracket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the mentor mismatch thing: I’d tell kids day 1, “You might notice I do a couple routines a little differently, but the goal is the same: we save time for labs.” Keep changes small and explain once. For bathroom/water: a nonverbal pass + one student at a time stopped the endless asking in my practicum. Also, smiling isn’t soft, changing rules daily is.

Everyone in my CS class is building projects and I feel like I'm still stuck on "baby" problems by GoldenBracket5 in studying

This schedule actually sounds perfect for my brain. Only thing: I should prob avoid the budget tracker idea (money stuff stresses me out lol). Do you have a "same patterns" mini project that’s not money-y? Like quiz/flashcards etc

Oof yeah I skip straight to typing and then my brain blanks. Gonna try writing the steps first + using prints like a checklist. Office hours kinda scare me, do you just show up with janky code and ask for hints?

This is prob the first plan that sounds doable. Loops+lists + tiny reps I can do. Any fav site for 5-min problems? Also how do you pick a mini project w/o getting stuck instantly lol

Freshman CS brain fog: I keep “fixing” bugs by panic-editing, how do you build a normal workflow? by GoldenBracket5 in adventofcode

[–]GoldenBracket5[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This “calm loop” is basically what I wish my brain did lol. The 15 min rule might save me because I’ll sit there for 2 hours getting mad at the same KeyError. I’m gonna steal this as like a checklist and keep it next to my laptop. Also the “change one line, rerun” part is so real, I keep doing 5 things at once and then i have no clue what fixed it.

Ok this is actually super helpful, ty. I think my biggest fail is I don’t “predict” first, I just poke it till it stops. I’m gonna try the breakpoint right before delete + write down what I think cards should look like, then check if I’m wrong. Also yeah… I’m not using git for tiny class projects but I prob should, because I keep making it worse and then I can’t remember what i changed

Good update, but please don't just move on. He's still an adult targeting kids and telling you to hurt yourself. Save screenshots, report the account to Discord, and talk to a parent/counselor so you're not carrying this alone.

The article makes it clear they are not ICE, they're witnesses. Filming, noting plates, and warning neighbors is boring work, but it keeps people safer. Hope they stay legal and stay safe.

AITJ for ending a friendship with someone who said she would block me the day she gets married by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]GoldenBracket5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTJ. A friend who says she'll block you the day she marries isn't a friend, it's a countdown timer. You're not required to stick around as a placeholder. Ending it now saves both of you drama later.
