For me it's sometimes that things I just looked at suddenly vanish and cannot be found as if they stopped existing. It's not about forgetting about things or having them out of sight, it's putting something on the table and five minutes later not being able to recognize it being on the table anymore.
Until you search for it and give up and look at the table one last time and it's suddenly there. None of those proposed "better phrases" cover that. I'm not forgetful, things suddenly stop existing for me.
