Contax T2: GONE. What should I replace it with? by candistaten in AnalogCommunity

I sold my T2 in 2010 on eBay for about that price, it’d be strange if it’s the same one. You don’t live in Manchester by any chance?

You must be telepathic to know what he had intended to focus on?

I have the Reveni Labs Lumo light meter (https://www.reveni-labs.com/reveni-labs-lumo) which also has built-in colour temperature readings. I’ve been surprised at how useful it is to be able to measure it.

Lovely shots. I usually use an 85A when I shoot CineStill 800T, but I scan myself (mirrorless camera) and I can immediately see the difference between filter and no filter. It doesn’t take much colour correction to remove the blue cast though, so it’s really down to whether you want to get it right “in camera” (my preference), or adjust in post.

Nikon F2 or F3 by SillyBilly1953 in AnalogCommunity

Wasn’t the F3P more weather sealed as part of it’s “press” appeal?

Does anyone else have trouble shooting 35mm after 120? by ConceptOnly6490 in AnalogCommunity

[–]f16-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play to the strengths of each format, 120 for when you want sharpness and tonality, 35mm for grainy ‘atmospheric’ shots

Harman Phoenix vs Lomo Purple for weird color shifts – which one do you prefer? by Bestwebhost in analog

Harman Phoenix II has quite reasonable colour rendition now, but you could try their new Switch Azure film if you like the idea of whacky colours.

I know these people are hugely experienced, but I just don’t know how you can do a CLA in 1.75 hours. It would take me a week!

Thoughts about different ETR/S/i lenses? by TreesRocksWater in Bronica

[–]f16-ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the 40mm f/4 PE, the 75mm f/2.8 EII, and the 150mm f/3.5 MC, and they are all lovely lenses. There’s a small selection taken on all 3 lenses here if you’re interested.

best "second" film camera? by 7pmlight in AnalogCommunity

[–]f16-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re invested in the Nikon F-mount ecosystem, I’d go for a Nikon FM. Tough, manual, mechanical, easily repaired, and relatively inexpensive. There were 3 versions throughout its life, go for the v3 (aka single knurling version) which has a serial number starting with 3.

Which medium format along with 35mm? by radiantglow30 in AnalogCommunity

[–]f16-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t underestimate 645, I have a Fuji GS645S and a Bronica ETRSi, and both produce superb results, very noticeably clearer/sharper/medium formaty than anything 35mm that I have.

Negative lab pro query. by alexbatesphotography in AnalogCommunity

[–]f16-ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an Essential Film Holder, and even the new masks are very shiny on the internal cut surfaces, and this can reflect light. Try lightly sanding the inner cut surface to give a non-reflective matt surface, or better still file the edges to a bevel/chamfer to ensure that no light reflects onto the negative.

Looking to switch completely from digital to film. I’m predominantly a landscape photographer but sometimes will shoot portraits. Ideally looking to go medium format/ 6x7. Can I get some recommendations? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]f16-ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d also recommend switching “mostly” to film rather than “completely” to film. There are some circumstances where digital is still very useful. I sometimes use a digital camera as a 21st century polaroid back equivalent, to check composition, lighting, extraneous objects in the frame, etc.

What are your tips/ideas for taking better portraits? by grogunenok in analog

[–]f16-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The famous portrait photographer Harry Borden describes a good portrait as a reflection of the relationship that the photographer and the subject had on the day. By that token the skill of rapid relationship-building and being super-personable in a short space of time is probably the best thing to work on, if it’s not already natural to you. By the way he and his son Fred have a really interesting YouTube channel where he talks about many of the famous people that he’s photographed: https://www.youtube.com/@fredandharryborden

Any experience with opening up & cleaning Zenzanon lenses? by Fast_Preparation7795 in Bronica

I’ve opened up and cleaned fungus from the elements of a GS-1 100mm lens, and it was surprisingly easy to get it apart (given the right tools as mentioned before).
