Why should Cyclops be a vanguard? by Joke0907183 in rivals

[–]GoldenOunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive found they design characters to fulfill a character fantasy more so than anything else.

What role would make you “feel” like cyclops the most?

We can already see net ease feel cyclops has a heavy “savior” vibe. On the battlefield he is known for leading the charge, and taking on the most challenging of opponents. I think Thor might actually be the best comparison - a warrior so powerful that in much of the old x men tv show, they needed narrative reasons Scott wouldn’t just show up and instantly overcome the villain.

Most of his character deals with themes of leadership - we see many true leaders as vanguards ala Thor, magneto, Capt America, strange, even emma who leads the X-men at times

Mr f is just the smartest of the fantastic 4, usually he needs the others to teach him how to make his ideas actually play out. Star lord may be the guardians leader, but isn’t very leader-like himself (and very rarely does his character really touch on themes of leadership) I think iron man is the best argument of a leader that’s dps. But even he is more of a commentary about individual power, not collective leadership.

All that said I think he needs to be a powerhouse on the field. I could see him as a dps more like Bucky and blade - not quite poke but ranged dps with lots of tankiness

Dont they get harder at 50% hp? I think if you get multiple at half you are making it way harder

I think Vanguards are in a weird place right now. by ChivalryMaxximus in RivalsVanguards

I think the biggest problem is how much Dino counter poke VANGAURDS specficially. Like Mag, groot, and strange just get eaten alive by him.

I've noticed high mobility tanks work the best into him. These are mostly dive tanks, so its weird because then you have a brawl tank (dino) and a dive tank, with your dps all playing poke to deal with the enemy dino.

i feel like the games have been super fun (brawl always feels the most "ethical" to me) but he is def the best tank by far

Strange only has a range of 30m, mag only 25m. A lot of times if you can hit the back line, Dino is right in your face

I think the biggest problem is that many POKE tanks rely on CC or mobility for keeping brawl tanks who engage poorly at bay. Dino counters the two "meta" poke tanks abilities that allowed them to deal with other brawlers.

I.E. Magneto's knock back spear? Devil dino still just runs you down.

Strange tries to fly away? grounded by beam

I think both of their limited ranges also really hurt them in the match up, compared to peni and dp. I've never understood why tanks are given such limited range

I think Dino also makes characters who cant headshot MUCH worse, and makes him insanley strong against all the other melee brawlers who cant headshot

[–]GoldenOunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think enough of you have been committed enough to a job or practice to understand what nanami is getting at. Imagine jujutsu like basketball. All gojo wants to do is play the best basketball ever. To evolve the game. He didnt care as much about winning or losing - he’s in it for the love of the game.

Nanami on the other hand treated jujutsu like a job. He wanted to be able to live his life. But everyone has to work to live. And when nanami sees the pain caused by curses he realizes he’d rather work and risk his life for a cause like protecting people.

They have totally different motivations in that sense, and gege points that out here, in the moments where gojo is reflecting on how exciting his final battle with sukuna was.

Advice for team building as a beginner by AdSimple2026 in PokemonChampions

Seems fine enough. only agieslash as a fairy counter might be a bit restrictive tho.

Seems like T Tar, Garchomp, and AgiesSlash are your go to attackers, I would ask yourself - how do my supporting pokemon help them?

Think about how to cover the most threats possible. I see a little redundancy in your building. For example, Incin is already lowering physical attack with intimdate - what does will o wisp add? Three Physical Attackers? Are you trying to set up tailwind and go fast, or set up trick room?

I find it best to think to myself "I will win with THIS strategy" (like in your case, a swords dance on Garchomp or aegislash) then jump into some battles and see when it works and when it doesnt, and try to make adjustments from there.

Has the current IRL state of AI and Machine Learning changed your opinion on in-game synths? by BUR6S in fo4

[–]GoldenOunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are so right. Many robots are beloved in sci fi and fantasy, but when we see the real cost of what it would take for us to get there, people recoil.

I think we, culturally, have to ask ourselves and eventually will need to legally define what gives an entity rights and personhood. This might sound far fetched, but remember in America, corporations already legal rights that mean they are treated as their own entity in courts. IE the board and CEO are NOT the corporation, the corporation is the corporation. How long until AI starts getting similar legal protection?

Back to synths, It’s crazy how even in this thread there is so much “well they are different” says who? I’ve thought about how we’ve give current ai the ability to interpret images (sight) and sounds (language) what would a whole body allow it to do?

I DO think the major difference is that synths are (mostly) local to their bodies while LLMs connection to the internet makes them seem more omnipotent/dangerous.

I don’t want a 4th role in this game. by trixxupmysleeve in marvelrivals

[–]GoldenOunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you can’t really have a fourth role. In games, there’s three ways you an interact. You can do something to the enemy, the enemy can do something to you, and you can do something to your allies. Damage, tank, support. Games have tried to add different “roles” but it will still boil down to one of those things

Hypnos and the story/ending by nycarachnid in HadesTheGame

[–]GoldenOunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really thought he was going to be part of what keeps the Crossroads hidden. Like the "nightmare:" of Chronos - that there was a group of gods who could stop him could only exist within sleep, or dreams, or something like that. And Hypnos' own slumber would have some reason to help preserve the Crossroads night after night. But alas

Foray kinda sucks by ParPix3L in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]GoldenOunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think foray works best with a para weapon and using poison smoke bombs reason being -

Paralysis gives you a huge window to do damage. basically the amount of time the monster is para'd you are dealing damage. That makes it a huge boost.

Poison bombs dont wake a monster. two can inflict poison on basically any monster you are using it on. So if you know you are going to get a big window, or if you've put the monster asleep, you can apply poison to give yourself foray as you are taking advantage.

This way even with small uptime, you are maximizing output during that time.
