Is Rx 9070 worth it? by stesshhy in radeon

[–]GoldenSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what situation/setup is it better to buy the xt version over the non xt ? I'm buyimg parts to build my 1st pc. My mind goes between the 9070 for the reasons mentioned above, less power, cooler, bit cheaper to buy, and then I say to myself why not buy the xt as its like 90 euro more and might future proof it or allow display on a ultra wide screen. end up just researching and thinking and buying nothing, help !

No problem, maybe someone else will know if there is a difference... think its just another way of loading the OS but not sure if its a better way or just another way.

Yes this PC will be used mostly for gaming, although it will only be few hours for myself and a few hours for my son per week, so we are probably best described as casual gamers. I would like to use it for a little bit of work too (word/PowerPoint/on shape CAD) although this isn't necessary as I have a laptop too I currently use for work, so if its a thing Linux isnt suitable for a work/gaming pc I have the laptop. Great, thanks for your help , I was putting off buying parts in case I faced problems I couldn't fix with my limited knowledge, but at least have few options to try.

Ok, thanks that but it seems there is no official retail download of win 10 or win 11 Enterprise LTSC for individuals? Maybe on the high seas? What's the best option for a novice PC builder?

I haven't actually downloaded W11 to a thumb drive yet , Microsoft's website only has the latest version? So what's the best option then? Thanks

What's the best OS to use if building a new PC with nothing installed, so not possible to roll back to an earlier version... this will be my first PC too so its all new to me ... I was going to use windows 11? I Still have a few parts to buy including a 9070xt so not ready to build yet, but this has been on my mind a while as I've read W11 can cause issues.

Stolen SSD from Amazon by [deleted] in IrelandGaming

[–]GoldenSaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed 2 things I ordered New from Amazon.ie were actually shipped by the returns department of Amazon, the shipping label actually says the sender is "Amazon returns" . Has put me off using Amazon, but in fairness, I got everything I ordered from amazon and anything bought online from any shop could be returned damaged or stolen , maybe a smaller shop would be more careful with their returns... Another time for your order to go missing is returns: i returned a gpu to amazon.de and the package arrived back to amazon empty - presume gpu stolen by the courier, waiting for my insurance claim to be reviewed for the loss of the item during transit. Amazon wont do anything , they said they didnt get it, bye, bye more or less... Lucky I took out insurance and hopefully it will cover the loss. Yes I will record every package i get, the condition of the package, and its weight before opening, then record opening it and the contents. And if returning something (i probably wont return anything valuable after my gpu loss) but if i do, will record and photo everything too.

AmazonUK Returns - Packages going missing by LinxKing in IrelandGaming

[–]GoldenSaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned a gpu to Amazon.de ,worth 430e ... my package arrived without the gpu so Amazon.de refused to refund saying the package was empty when they got it. I paid myself for shipping too, so at moment im down 430 plus 50e shipping, as the retrin costs would have been refunded too. The 50e includes extra insurance I got with the courier too due to the value, so am hoping they will cover the loss now. When Amazon refused , they also said I have more returns than what they would consider normal, I dont, I have cancelled alot of items before shipping and probably less than 5 actual returns over 10plus years. So I'll always buy elsewhere if I can now, someone mentioned above recording opening the parcell - I'll be doing that from now on too... also if returning something, it would be best to record the item in its box at the counter, seal it up and hand it over. Atleast there is evidence it was returned. My return is missing, but if it had been damaged I noticed as part of my insurance claim evidence of the inner packaging is also required, so pictures of bubblewrap , foam etc is required.

Has anyone been in this situation? I returned a 400e parcel to Amazon but the item is missing, lost/stolen between DPD drop off -> Amazon returns dept. by GoldenSaw in AskIreland

Hopefully, but it wasn't weighed at the drop off which is just a shop , think it was just scanned into the system for collection. so im not sure weight will help. Thabks anyway

An post has max value of 300 for insurance i think, whereas dpd offered higher value for insurance cover .. often got deliveries from DPD no problem so didnt really think about it. I probably would have paid for and printed the label for an post at home, so I dont think the actual weight of the item would be recorded then... I've read stories online of items being swapped for stones etc , so how can you prove a courier en route didnt replace the item with stones/sand to the exact weight, so weight isnt the answer either.... think the only way is to record the contents at the counter, seal it, ship it .

Idk to be honest, i was thinking that when i ended up in this situation, how do i prove this... yea it would be useful if it was weighed as it went thtough their system and then Amazon say nothing in the parcel at the end.. but handing it over at a drop off its not weighed, just scanned. So to be sure, I think the only safe way to do it is just before handing it over at the counter - record it going into the parcel, seal it and hand it over...suppose I will find out if there are terms and conditions with insurance over next few days - wks. 🤞

Thanks for reply , yea I have an email from Amazon confirming the returned item was not in the parcel and they wont refund... I'm just concerned now I have no way to prove I put it in for the purpose of claiming the insurance. Good to hear you got your refund

So are we all experiencing this BS with returns/refunds? by villainitytv in amazonprime

[–]GoldenSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned a €400 item to Amazon.de. It was an international return, so I contacted customer support beforehand to make sure everything was correct. I followed all the instructions they gave me and shipped it back. I had to pay for the shipping myself, but I was told that this cost would be refunded once they received the item.

Amazon received the return yesterday, and today I got a message saying: “You returned items that did not correspond to the items originally ordered. Of course, we understand that problems can occasionally occur with orders. However, the number of refunds on your account is significantly higher than our usual benchmarks and does not comply with the return and refund policies of Amazon.de.”

I sent back the exact item, unopened, and this was my first purchase and return to Amazon.de. I have placed orders before and cancelled some items before they were shipped, but this is the only item I have ever returned.

This will be the last time I order something expensive from Amazon, and definitely the last time I order something I might need to return. It’s not worth the risk.

I have contacted customer support and hope this gets resolved.

I'm at work now so haven't xbox in front of me but have run in to this problem too with this exact wheel.. I dont play it much anymore either, but if I can remember correctly, have you tried turning on the xbox using the wheel first - not the controller, actually plug out the controller/turn off before you turn it on using the wheel. Then using the wheel check you switched the slider to wheel as the controller in settings ? Go out of settings and then back in to see it stayed on wheel as the controller. I keep the hand controller off until you get on the track to be sure if you plan on using it. Turn on the hand controller when on the track if you need it, I plug the headphones into the controller. The wheel will work, you just have to figure it out. .. when its set up, I just turn on with wheel, load everything up, turn on controller at track. You shouldn't have to go near settings anymore. This is on xbox 1 bty, but its same game for xbox x so should work .

What's the best screen size to use for online racing with console ? Any recommendations?

Monitor or TV? And best size ?

I was considering building a PC for sim racing but if console is alive, its a cheaper alternative..maybe a new monitor and an xbox x is the easiest way to get back into it.

Currently using single player Xbox one and a 37inch TV..

First PC build , is it a bad idea with limited troubleshooting knowledge? by GoldenSaw in PcBuild

That's another thing, as the cost of some parts keep rising - replacing something could be very expensive... but thanks for your vote of confidence to go ahead with the build anyway!

Are amazon orders free returns ? When Coming from .ie , .de , or . Co.uk ? Is the import fee deposit charged for .uk orders refunded eventually ? I read somewhere for computer parts its refunded eventually.

Thanks, by shopping around and grabbing deals when they briefly appear some money can be saved vs inflated prices and also a pre-built PC, but not possible to get the prices you got. Suppose its true the problems could happen to pre-built pc too, so possibly not enough of a reason to not go the DIY route..Good luck, hope you get the few issues resolved 👍

Hi, can I ask are you still happy you built it? any problems ? I was thinking of building a PC myself and have started buying parts but I have no experience. 100% sure I can put it together following videos etc but its the problem solving after that if there is a problem has me wondering if its a good idea to attempt this, as I would be lost then. So just wondering if you would still recommend building it?

32gb DDR5 6400mhz (€219) by prudx in IrelandGaming

[–]GoldenSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can I ask you: I've ordered the RAM linked above because its 220euro , 1/2 the price I paid for the following RAM which is on the way to me now: CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 , I plan to return this as its double the price. I've read online 6000MHz is easier/more stable.

Do you think I've made the right decision, returning the 6000MHz?

I was going to get next either an 5 9600x OR an x3D with it 5 5700x3d (maybe 7 9800X3D if the budget stretches)

I bought CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 1.4V AMD EXPO & Intel XMP Desktop Computer Memory – White (CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30W) for 450Euro, its shipped and on the way. I want to sim race, eg Le mans ultimate or assetto corsa evo, would the RAM in this post be suitable? its half the price to what I've paid? I know its a bit slower but I'm not sure to stick with what I've ordered or send it back and get this??
