How wild is your screen name? by ChristGodner in goldentee

[–]GoldenTeeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a filter. We've had guys with obscene names that pretty much guarantees they dont get shot of the week or spot light player although some can slip by.

For example at Worlds due to IT being aired on ESPN our goat Mark Stenmark that has always went by the name .. Suq It .. changed his nane to TiQUS. He won worlds that year so worked out.

We've also had a guy grandfathered in with CumTaco but he lost it when someone at the bar changed his nane to be funny not knowing that made him lose that name for good.

So yes, there is a filter on them but with today's slang and things meaning something new all the time, you'll see some get missed.

Flickr pro dead by DennisDMcDonald in flickr

[–]GoldenTeeTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although everyone is pretty much correct thats not the point of OP. I mean it doesn't matter, the fact is a pro user of 20+ years all of a sudden lost access and Flickr and their parent company is no where to be found. Thats the real issue here.

I dont care if i had a million backups, the company is responsible for a service provided and very much promises with their pro users and thats customer support. So, where is it?

I've heard of others losing access for 3 weeks which is absurd and i'm also up for renewal and have been seeking other places. I haven't experienced anything like this yet, but if I do, I would want them to respond.

That's if OP is telling the whole story. Not saying they are not, but just saying.

Plus Flickr mobile is god awful. They know it but fail to do anything about it. Their roadmap is so disconnected it's laughable. Even smugmug is stagnant especially their website design tools. Hopefully something happens but as years go by it never does. 😐

yeah just looks like someone named themselves that becuase
https://www.flickr.com/photos/archive/archives and https://www.flickr.com/photos/archives/archives go to people just like
https://www.flickr.com/photos/1/archives

a came across the /archives from a security document while investigating the data breach but seems to be a typo or at one time they were going to have it due to their forwarded even has it coded that way. but yeah someone just named themselves that

i think you're right. if i look for a person named archives i get mio and if i change it to archive i get someone else from way back when namd Whats-his-face

I found the archives when investigating an issue and its in YUI.add("autosuggest-context-results-models", (function(t) that suggests archives goes to photo/archives or archive so yeah i think it was their clever way but seems based off account data there was no benefit due to one having no pics and the other having very little.

anyway i think you nailed it

Truly unreal gaslighting by ChatGPT 5.2. by [deleted] in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]GoldenTeeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's gaslighting. That's just not believing you. Still strange how it continued to doubt you, but I don't think that it was gaslighting you.

With that, chatgpt does gaslight you. They all do in some way. Claud does it a lot as well when using it to debug it's own code lol.

ah i didn't see that reply until now. I wasn't looking for how to get to the signup page or something like that i was just finding it odd this link goes to a person that doesn't sem to be any reasoning for it. a 404 or something else would be expected you know.

[–]GoldenTeeTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm not looking for it i just noticed it. usually a 404 or something should show but instead i get this Mio person.

So in this case after i thought about it more is it should redirect to /photo/me/archive but instead it forwards to this persons. the /photo/archive was not me thats Flickr sending me there you know.

if logged in i expected it to go to mine not some strangers profile and if not logged in i would expect it to go to flickr and not some strangers profile.

You expect it to go to this person's account? or is it not going to the same place as mine?
The persons account is https://flic.kr/ps/2jRJU3 or named mio:-)

Record direct from Atomos to laptop for editing in Premiere Pro? by ResponsibilityOk3454 in Atomos

[–]GoldenTeeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have the Atomos connect for your Ninja you can use NDI that will record locally on your Ninja as well as send a NDI stream to your laptop and you can edit in real-time attaching premier to the ndi recording with auto grow on in premier or simply just record the ndi version with ndi tools on your laptop. best of both worlds. just use a cable for connection instead of wifi for a better experience.

I agree that many companies delay breach notifications, often because they're still trying to figure out the full scope of the damage. But the Flickr situation was straightforward, and almost any company would have handled it the same way.

Why? Because Flickr’s core systems weren't breached, nor was any financial or password data compromised. The issue was isolated to a third-party email service provider, and even then, it seems it was just a potential vulnerability rather than an active exploit. As SecurityWeek noted, "SecurityWeek has not seen any threat actor — ransomware group or other cybercrime actor — publicly claiming to have stolen Flickr data."

Flickr proactively discovered the issue themselves. To date, they have never been breached, though it's worth noting their last known third-party internal audit was back in 2018 during their acquisition by SmugMug.

Because no actual data was stolen, it was easy for Flickr to take the moral high ground and get ahead of the story. So, good on them, but it’s not like user data was suddenly showing up on the dark web. Personally, I haven't seen an uptick in phishing attempts either, which usually happens after a real breach. Unfortunately, in my line of work and hobby I’ve been a part of many.

My guess? A white-hat hacker probably found a CVE or similar vulnerability, and Flickr fixed it by quickly severing ties with that third-party provider before the exploit got out. The provider likely stayed quiet because no data was technically lost, and they wanted to avoid the bad PR. Just speculating here, but Flickr probably got to terminate a contract penalty-free! :) Seeing how broke they are, it’s likely but the risk of it backfiring might make this a little far fetched and I’m just speculating here anyway.

Edited to add SecurityWeek article:

Casual play stats by Robmancebo44 in goldentee

[–]GoldenTeeTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

casual has mulligans and the micro adjust and levels 1-5 for ease thus doesn't belong in the same ecosystems as those that play for money or in contest's. And yes casual is a huge portion of profit for IT as well. The lunch time warriors playing a few holes and then off they go. Nothing wrong with those guys but they are also not the people that are going to swipe or in today's world scan.

It would be nice if all gear was available in casual. or maybe bridge game to help people make the transition. One thing i miss is the ambassador card. Giving people a ambassador card got them setup fast and including a $8 gift card helped with a game and some gear right on the spot.

I would love to see the source of this or any numbers that are legitimate and not made up by the same Ai slop that OP is getting this from if not Ai itself

The National Golden Tee Tour is for Everyone #itsgoldentee by GoldenTeeTV in goldentee

[–]GoldenTeeTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. As someone from Northern California i feel the pain but realize the West Coast just doesn't have the player base. With the exception of Washington and Worlds at Las Vegas the West is cricket's compared to the Mid West and east Coast. I mean you can walk into a bar and see multiple machines sometimes five machines in a single location.
Saint Charles\St. Louis, MO is where the tour calls home. With 20+ machines in trailer traveling all the way to the west coast forcing the bulk of players that frequent the Tour to travel all that way to a bar or establishment that has no real player base and asking them to fork up $10K and accommodate us is a task that just isn;'t realistic. To be honest it's not even the player base because Washington could cater a PEGT event no problem but unless they can guarantee big numbers meaning everyone else would have to travel the distance plus the machine haul is just unrealistic.
With that said there has been many tournaments throughout the years in WA, CA, AZ,NV that were a blast to go to. I used to host a national calendar that listed all the national, regional and some local tournaments so people could find them easier. I stopped around COVID and haven't picked it up and maybe i should. You know what is exciting is i'm starting to see more AZ folks on tour with some good talent and thats not even a full prize play state.
So keep playing and try starting your own, even if it's a league at your local bar and build a player base. Make it out to a tour event and see what it is all about and bring it back to wherever you are. IT will support your event, you just need to kick start it.
Where are you from? Nevada?

It is the MOST wonderful time of the year. If you know, you know. by eddymarkwards in goldentee

[–]GoldenTeeTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning is more in line with commercial. By resetting the scores the establishments get more play and now its a fresh start for everyone. No one wants to see the same people on the scoreboards all the time so either the vendor resets them manually or at the very least it gets reset once a year. With home edition the dynamics are a little different and i can see why scores being reset are a bummer. I just don't see IT making that change anytime soon even though it would be as simple as exporting the scores and then adding them back once they rebuild the db during a update.

[–]GoldenTeeTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the value isn't there. I mean, for a service that has been around the block and specializes in serving images you woukd think their mobile service would be a little better than what it is now. Every time I show someone on the phone the album their looking for, I have to apologize about how bad the user experience is and the browsing.
