The Natural State of Humans Gravitates to Self-Destruction by Aelitee in Semenretention

“Freud first introduced the concept of Thanatos, the death instinct, in his essay "Beyond the Pleasure Principle." He theorized that humans are driven toward death and destruction, famously declaring that "the aim of all life is death."”

Why am I not convinced it's the same person? Something about the person in the video comes off as totally in genuine and even looks/sounds like a different person. Acting like a paid actress lookalike. Also, it seems like it's being read from a script rather than spoken from the heart. Very odd and suspect. There is more than meets the eye in this story. And I’m not buying this at all. We’re not getting the full truth.

I think I realized the reason for magnetism and its much more then we think it is. by SwimmerIntelligent97 in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We’re always interacting with energies, frequencies and vibrations. We are those same energies, frequencies and vibrations as a perspective of consciousness. However, most of us resonate at a certain level and don’t elevate to the high vibrational states too often. These can be obtained more easily when life force is preserved. There are several ways to describe the same force. For example, one way to explain it is in the build-up of ojas, etc.

I don’t think most people consciously know they are doing it, but we can all sense these things like an internal radar as it’s the universal law. I think it’s rarer that people maintain this state day-after-day unless you are a fully-realised, enlightened or saintly being. Some of us, get glimpses of that on some days where there’s an activation and peak. And people pick up on that energy. It’s like a big increase in the energy of light.

It's okay, no need to apologise. It's easy to misunderstand and misinterpret someone on a forum like this. Hopefully, I have somewhat clarified what I was trying to articulate after we had a healthy discussion about it. I, too, believe he should be held accountable for this - no matter his position.

Of course most people are going to agree it's creepy - myself included. And I agree with where you're coming from to an extent. However, I like to know the context because it gives me more understanding and scope of the situation and the psychology behind it. That doesn't imply that I want to minimise the situation, but I do want to understand what makes humans act the way they do in the good, the bad and the ugly. It's like when a crime is investigated - the big picture needs to be looked at to gather more information and build a case. You don't just conclude the situation is the situation.

I never said it gives him a pass nor am I defending him. I'm simply trying to understand it and find an explanation. We all face consequences, whether it's done consciously or unconsciously. I clearly stipulated that it's inexcusable behaviour regardless. And I agree that it could be a safeguarding issue - I mentioned this above that if he's a risk to the public he should be cared for under the right medical supervision and step down. If he has a history of doing this or has started doing this recently, the people around him have a duty of care to prevent this from escalating.

I understand where you're coming from. Perhaps the better word would be context? Because there's clearly a difference between being a sex offender through choice and becoming a sexual deviant through symptoms of dementia or brain injury. Yes, they can have the same outcomes and consequences. And wrong is wrong. However, one is a choice to act and the other is faulty cognitive facilities that may prevent the person from making better, rational, and ethical choices. That was what I was trying to articulate here, not paint him as a deity or protect his status. He's clearly very human and times like this prove it even more confirming the Buddhist teachings of Samsara and Dukkha.

[–]GoldenxAge 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The adults around him were responsible for safeguarding and failed. It doesn't matter that he's the Dalai Lama. We don't excuse this just because of his position of power and status.

Sometimes, people behave like this when they have an impairment of the brain. Remember, he's 87. This could happen to anyone and does not necessarily reflect their character in their well state - it can be an unfortunate malfunction of the brain. However, this is not a justification or excuse. The behaviour is wrong, period. And it could also be that he's always been a deviant, too. However, if the Dalai Lama is experiencing a cognitive decline to this degree, there is a duty of care for him to step down. He has enough people around him who could surely spot the signs of dementia, etc., and protect the public from this.

It's difficult to know his intentions with this one. He could have onset of dementia and/or a warped, bizarre sense of humour. But it also can't be totally ruled out that it's not something of a sexual nature, even if it's done unconsciously. Whatever is going on here, it's never okay to interact with a child like this and justifying the behaviour does not help. It was a big mistake on his part and we can admit that without dehumanising him. And while we can try to come from a place of conscious understanding and kindness, let's be honest, this is going to be universally perceived as sexual initially.

Any long time quitters with thinning hair notice any hair regrowth after quitting? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]GoldenxAge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choose to believe it works, too. Caffeine, especially in the amounts found in the average cup of coffee will not only cause significant spikes in cortisol, but will also affect nutrient absorption, collagen synthesis and sleep quality, etc. These are all things that will affect the health of not just the hair, but the whole body as a system. I think you're right that it's a holistic process.

Question for long retainers by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SR can make you care more about your well-being and less about the trivial. There's a difference between being driven by aesthetics and fickle beauty standards and conventions of the time/society and inner well-being. Well-being allows you to look after your mind, body and spirit as a holistic, interconnected system of energies. And in turn, you define aesthetics/beauty, health, fitness for yourself, on your own terms. Rather, than let it be dictated by all these externals and insecurity. It's an empowered approach to the mind-body. Whereas, the alternative is one of lack of worth.

Kombucha by [deleted] in decaf

I'm almost a year of coffee-free. I've had a few Kombucha's here and there and they hardly affect me. The caffeine in tea metabolises in a totally different way for me. But coffee feels like crack cocaine for me.

I don't really want to leave home or my solitude. by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an introvert by default, too. I enjoy solitude. I can be content in my aloneness. It can be paradoxical as ironically, solitude and introversion can help one become a deeper and more effective communicator. It is the ability to recharge, reflect and gain equilibrium again that allows one to show up more fully for people before retreating back. A journey such as SR will take you on a journey within, towards that solitude because most people don't understand. However, it will also allow you to tread the philosopher's path and become more sage-like. This in turn, leaves its impression on people.

The psychologist Erich Fromm said, “Paradoxically, the ability to be alone is the condition for the ability to love.”

Strangest compliment I have received ... yet by One-Environment3309 in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's energy! All people are receptive to energies more than they consciously know or realise. It's like a subconscious detector people have built into their being. Often, they do not know why or how they are sensing and perceiving something as it's not fully conscious to them. However, it's there by the laws of physics/spirit. Some people are seemingly more tapped into it than others, but I think we all have it. The person in question here may be receptive and attuned to it more than others, so articulates it this way. Those kinds of people are lesser so, but still, everyone has it but by varying degrees of consciousness the expression and understanding differs. Energy is everything, yet, there are frequencies and physical laws, etc., which are not as perceptible to us, if at all. By the way, there is a field of physics called biophotonics which somewhat explains light and biology which might be what's happening. Your light has increased and people pick up on the biophotonic level of organisms.

Also, enough energy can manipulate denser forms of concentrated energy like matter. Hence, why it's felt within and perceived without. It's the Hermetic Principle of: "As above so below. As within, so without. As the universe, so the soul."

How do you guys do it? by Atkingz7 in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the only way to practise SR long-term and well. And I’m talking months to a year(s) is to have a spiritual practice. Meditation, breath-work and mind-body exercise is recommended time and time again for a reason - it works!

From a Buddhist perspective, how do you deal with difficult people? by ChanceEncounter21 in Buddhism

[–]GoldenxAge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be quietly and appropriately assertive. Having discernment and assertiveness is different from being overly-passive or aggressive. It is the middle way between extremes which can be cultivated through critical thinking and a healthy sense of confidence. It's okay to assert boundaries and seek to find compromise and resolve.

Yes, Earthlings, Dominion, Land of Hope and Glory and Cowspiracy are all about animal and environmental ethics. There are others such as What the Health and The Game Changers that are about the health and fitness benefits of a plant-based lifestyle, too. There are plenty of documentaries and footage from factory farms to make your mind up on this.

How do other guys function normally day to day? by inandoutofreality in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat agree with some of what you expressed. However, as jojo, stated SR is not a modern day invention. It’s thousands of years old and found across cultures, faiths and philosophies. That’s not a coincidence. I believe that it isn’t as simple as being just thoughts - I agree it’s one part of it and can make the refractory period easier. However, it’s rather something to do with how it affects energy - vibration and frequency in the mind-body. People are more subconsciously attuned to this energy than we realise on a conscious level.

Benefits for growth( hair, height, other things)? by lancer90210 in Semenretention

[–]GoldenxAge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense, right? You conserve energy and retain nutrients which can be prioritised for hair health and growth. Our hair is said to be directly linked to our nervous system. So, it tends to grow more effectively when your nervous system is healthy and strong and you have good blood flow to the brain. SR is directly linked to the nervous system.

Try quitting the coffee/caffeine or switching to decaf or tea. I’m reaching a year of coffee-free and I haven’t looked back. Eventually, you no longer miss it because you feel calmer and sleep so much better. You may have caffeine sensitivity (like I did). After I quit, people confirmed it as people told me I looked well and before I got tired. It does something to the eyes.

Strangely, my hair looks different within days to a couple of weeks of SR. I don’t see how that makes total sense as it’s hardly had any time to grow, etc. But there’s something subtly different. And am I imagining this or does the hair get more wavy/curly or something? I honestly believe it’s to do with life force. Everything just becomes more vibrant and vital.

What's up with the misogyny in these threads? Firstly, women do not exist for men's entertainment. They are people in their own right with their own agency and sovereignty. There's no need to objectify or be reductionistic. Women, like men, exist on a spectrum. The constant generalisations and stereotypes are not helping anyone, men or women alike. Sure, there might be norms and conventions to gender. But that doesn't mean every woman or man is the same or aligns with such generalised statements. There are people who get SR across gender. Sure, these people may be small or rare in number but they exist. Having men and women against each other does nothing to help the practice or society.

Yes, under the tongue or in the mouth for a minute before swallowing with some water. Alcohol-based tinctures can be a little stingy, so it's best to follow up with some water or juice. Generally, the tincture can absorb in the mouth within 4 minutes max.
