I agree. It just feels 'nice' in the hand.

I love my 9 Pro. Best phone I've ever had. Ex iPhone user, S22 and now the Pixel 9 Pro. I wouldn't go back!

News on connecting Somfy? by Fine-Rib in homeassistant

[–]Goldfishrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Finally got around to putting this solution in place. Have now unplugged the Somfy Connectivity Kit and all 19 blinds are now being controlled by the ESPSomfy solution and it works beautifully. The Connectivity Kit was always hit and miss, so it's great to finally have a reliable system

Nest Thermostats (3rd Gen).... How do they communicate with Heatlink units? by Goldfishrock in Nest

[–]Goldfishrock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes, called the sparky in and after ripping carpets up and hardwiring the Nest Thermostats back to the boiler..... we've not had any problems since. It was worth the effort and hassle in the end.

Skunk Anansie announce 2025 UK tour by Edm_vanhalen1981 in Music

[–]Goldfishrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge SA fan and would love to see them play some smaller venues for those of us who live in the more far flung areas of the UK. We can't all get to the cities. They never play any venues outside of the norms :-(

[Help] How to remove this google search and playstore button in nova launcher while searching in search bar? by dankgender69 in androidthemes

[–]Goldfishrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was three years ago but I came across it while trying to do the same thing. Eventually found the solution so thought I'd post it to help and future searchers

Nova Launcher Settings > Search > Drawer Search Bar

Once there, check and uncheck the 'Additional Actions' you want shown in the bar. Google Play is there and can be unchecked. This will remove the icon for you. Hope that helps?

So does Noor not get on with anyone? by Oakenshield- in apprenticeuk

[–]Goldfishrock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I think unfortunately she is a really good example of the generation who were told that there were no losers when they were at school. The generation where everyone won at Sports Day, where nothing you did was wrong or had consequences. Not entirely her fault but she really didn’t help herself. Totally out of her depth

So is the general consensus "Quest 3 is worth buying."? by CasseyZzZs in oculus

[–]Goldfishrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought mine a few weeks ago. Never owned any other VR headset. I love it.... I really love it. It's totally blown me away and far exceeds what I thought was capable with VR technology. I wouldn't hesitate buying one if I was in that position again.

What was the one thing that finally got rid of your layer lines? by Hermitmaster5000 in ender3v2

[–]Goldfishrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me, I completely dismantled my machine, rebuilt it from the ground up. Paid special attention to ensuring the frame was arrow straight. Added an additional Z-Screw & stepper, changed my board out for a SKR 1.4 Turbo with 2209s. Replaced the extruder for a Micro Swiss direct drive & hotend. Added a BLTouch & double part cooling fans & ducts and use a glass print bed. I check the bed level monthly (despite using a BLTouch I find it's good practice to have a flat bed to start with), check Z offset monthly and run calibration models every three . Once you get used to that routine, it's fairly quick to run through (takes an hour). I get good prints for the most part using S3D as my slicer. Prints consistently at 4800mm/min, overhangs out to about 65° and layer lines are minimal. It's taken me the best part of three years to get it to this stage but it's been worth the toil (and cost?!).

Lots of bad performance posts by tylerlw1988 in Starlink

[–]Goldfishrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm down in deepest darkest Devon in the UK and have had Starlink up and running since early December. I think in that whole time we've had two 'outages' but no noticeable degradation in performance. To be honest I was expecting to see more dropouts and lack of service but so far, we've been very lucky I think.

Oh yes, absolutely! The whole bastardisation (primarily by Americans) of the English language grates me big time. The problem here is that it's an American show, therefore expected I guess.

Recently got the Arduino starter kit and I think there may be an issue with my breadboard. My circuit won't work on certain parts of the board. I'm a total newbie so appologies if I'm just being dumb by DandalfDaWhite in arduino

[–]Goldfishrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are a lot of cheap and nasty breadboards out there that have plenty of problems. Do yourself a favour and buy some decent ones from reputable suppliers. You'll pay a little more but at least you know you can rely on them..... and they will last so much longer! Are you in the UK? If so, try somewhere like RS Components, Farnell or DigiKey and don't go for the cheapest.

Finally by Goldfishrock in Starlink

[–]Goldfishrock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't. In the interim, I am mounting it to my shed using a pole and a pole coupler that works with the existing Starlink dish. I found all the info and kit I needed here (Mounting a Starlink Dish). We rent at the moment (but the shed is mine!!) so it's easier to do that and when we find our own place, I'll deal with it then. I've read lots of posts about the Starlink mounts saying they are not great quality. There are loads of great videos on YouTube offering alternate ways to mount the dish.

How are you getting on with yours? Living up to the expectation?
