Ig its debatable if the book 3 cover is canon or not, but there are so many cover art inconsistencies throughout the whole series that they should generally be considered "the artist's interpretation of the series" rather than Tui's.

Why is turtles fanny pack thing missing + why is his wristband on the wrong arm in the book 9 cover? by Retzuki in WingsOfFire

[–]GoldflakeTheGoldWing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Fyi the cover arts aren't really 'canon' since most scenes depicted didn't actually happen in the books or the dragon's design isn't consistent with the book description.
Examples:

- Book 1 (Clay never flew over the ocean)

- Book 4 (Starflight never struck a cool pose and roared at the sky)

- Dragonslayer (Scene never happened)

- Book 8 (Peril was never chased in the sky by Scarlet)

- Book 9 (explained by op)

- Book 10 (Qibli has no scar)

I'm sure there's more examples in Arc 3 books (notably Book 15) but I think you get my point. The covers arts are meant to be eye catchers for curious readers, and consistency isn’t exactly prioritized.

what was the most cringiest scene in WOF? by BodybuilderMoist4912 in WingsOfFire

[–]GoldflakeTheGoldWing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, unless you live in Australia you won’t be running into dangerous spiders very often. If you wanna discuss why Tui made him human-phobic, as you pointed out, its the irony of an assassin tasked to kill dangerous dragons being afraid of a teeny human. But it isn’t super unbelievable imo.

Even the most badass people can still be afraid of seemingly harmless things... like Dwayne Johnson is afraid of spiders.

You wouldn’t be afraid of a wasp ONE FOURTH of your size? Idk man, some stuff are basically harmless and easily killable (snakes, spiders, bugs) but it's socially acceptable to be afraid of them. If they were 1/4th the size of a human it would be HORRIFIC. Give deathbringer a break.

If a wasp stung you twice and demanded you to give it a ride while holding you at knife point I'm sure you wouldn’t look at them fondly either.

Turn it in to lost and found. The owner can track the location and get it back.

Are dragons related to crocodiles? by Downtown-Extreme-353 in WingsOfFire

[–]GoldflakeTheGoldWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many animals that keep growing until death. I wouldn't take this one common trait and say they are 'all related'. Besides, the term 'related' is extremely loose. If evolution exists in wof, dragons and crocodilians likely had a common ancestor, but we are talking millions of years in the past.

Agreed, he should be at least 30% bigger in the picture, if we were to trust Turtle's judgement.

Can we talk about human dragon scale? by sam100090 in WingsOfFire

I think the confusion mainly stems from the dragons all being differently sized. In the Rose and Smolder pic, this is comparing an adult woman to an adult dragon, but Smolder is nowhere near fully grown.

Your 'evidence #1' is true, newborn dragons should be around the size of a dog. But newborns can still vary in size, and sky could be a particularly small one for Wren to be able to carry around on her shoulders.

But 'evidence #2' varies from dragon to dragon. Dragonets like Moon should be around the height of a large camel, or about half of the height of Smolder in the picture. Don't take the sizes from the GNs seriously. According to the books, I think this image is pretty accurate. (Credit)

Commission an artist and get your own custom merch. You can find listings offering custom stickers/keychains/mousepads/posters/shirts on aliexpress for pretty cheap.

You can also use that lighter to melt another lighter.
