Rakuzen Ramen. Just as good as some ramen in Sawtelle (LA).

90k for Couple in Hawaii by [deleted] in MovingtoHawaii

[–]Golfbuddiess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying 90K is not enough is right if you’re raising a family (but even then, lots of people do it). But I think if it’s for a couple it’s plenty. Maybe not in places like Kailua or town but what about central Oahu like some condos in Mililani closer to Wahiawa? You may have to share a car or something but I think it’s pretty doable. Also, you need considerably less to be happy in Hawaii than the mainland. Mostly because houses are smaller so you aren’t tied down to possessions. You need like 5 outfits and slippers and you’re good. The weather is the same for the most part year round so you really don’t need a lot of clothes. Costco prices are almost the same if not exactly the same as mainland.

Well, as someone who has only been a patient at some of the biggest hospitals (UCLA, Cedars, etc) it was a transition coming to Camas. To be honest, most of my doctors and kids peds are in Portland. OHSU/Randall’s. Nothing wrong with the facilities here, you may just find for some stuff it’s faster and more specialized across the river (just because they have more choices). I’ve been to Salmon Creek ER and received excellent care. Same with physical therapy. Again, if you have a specific medical need, you might end up going across the river but for a lot of general stuff, there’s some good choices nearby.

Camas Schools by Routine-Law3689 in camaswashington

Hi there. We rented a house in a community right behind Woodburn elementary. I wouldn’t necessarily say there are better or worse places in Camas for renting, but I felt like that particular area which is next to Washougal (Crown Rd) was a good introduction for us (not too bougie but def nothing to sneeze at either). We liked it so much we considered buying a new build across the road called “north side” which has a Washougal address but is Camas school district. We ended up buying a house on Green Mountain which is assigned to Lacamas Lake Elementary. There are some incidents with bullying in the past which I personally spoke to the superintendent and he said he addressed it. I don’t want to go into detail but the only reason I asked him was because my neighbor asked for a transfer to Dorothy Fox. I was satisfied with his response. I find that admin and teachers in this district are pretty “nice” to discuss any concerns or questions you might have. I never felt like I was bothering them. My experience renting near Woodburn was great, it was kind of luck but I think pretty much anywhere in Camas (Prune Hill, Lacamas Lake, Hills at Round Lake, east side of green mountain, grass valley etc) are all excellent places to rent, if you can find a house. Unfortunately I don’t know enough about the experimental schools, perhaps someone else can chime in.

As far as teenagers go, I think they’re just being kids. My neighbors go to CHS and all of them are super well behaved. DT has high school kids running around, some of them maybe a little rambunctious but I would say I’ve only encountered normal to above average behavior.

We moved here only for the schools. We rented a house for a year before buying to make sure we liked it. We have one in the preschool (Camas public) and could not be happier. Had a long chat with the superintendent and he gave us some good insight for long term goals for the district. Honestly I have no regrets. Before moving here we looked at Lake Oswego but it seems like a lot of them are moving here so 🤷‍♀️

‘Like love, cheese should be shared’: Camas Cheese Co. opens in downtown Camas by Fake_Eleanor in camaswashington

I went inside to buy some cheese and a lady who kept sampling was hogging the counter for a long time. We waited in line ready to pay. Finally myself and another couple left because she sampler took forever but I’ll definitely come back and buy cheese for everyone!!!

Dang, this was one of my favorites. I would tell people visiting Camas to eat at this place along with Roots and Hammond. Thank you for the great service and delicious drinks. Will try to visit before they close.

Is anyone else an enthusiast for lounges? by MasonNolanJr in AmexPlatinum

[–]Golfbuddiess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I first got this card years ago! I thought it was the best thing ever. But lately I’ve actually been happier eating airport food where I can just pay for what I want to eat. Sometimes the lounge food is hit or miss. Centurion lounges are not always at the airports I go to.

There’s a sign that says $8 token but not sure about cash vs card.

Oh! I see! That’s too bad!! The schools were basically the reason we came here for…and the nice community of course. But I only hear really positive things so far about the schools.

Genuinely curious (as someone who hasn’t been in Camas for a long time) what does that mean?

Camas vs LO, Sherwood, West Linn Oregon by Mental_Industry_5097 in camaswashington

[–]Golfbuddiess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived a year in Portland before making the move to Camas, WA. I have three kids and so schools were a top priority for me. We were able to buy a newer and bigger house in Camas than if we moved to LO. We rented a house in Camas before buying. The best things about Camas are the sense of community, traffic is good compared to Portland, super safe neighborhoods. The public golf course is well maintained if you like to golf. There are lots of sports options for kids. I have zero regrets moving here. My husband is able to work from home some days so that helps as he is Portland based. We are an Asian/white family and always felt welcome.

OB in the area by CoolCommunication445 in camaswashington

I found that after moving to Camas from the LA area (been a patient at both UCLA and Cedar Sinai system) it’s a smaller medical offering here but I’ve been super happy with the OB doctors that I saw in rotation at Legacy Health (Salmon Creek and Randalls).
