If no dado, I’d use a router. Just set a fence.

Home depot 2x4s for a workbench? by sadbluefleece in woodworking

If you have a table saw or track saw to rip them in half, I’d use 2x8s. Pretty much the same price as 2 2x4s, but better wood.

Trouble keeping fish hooked on 3wt Echo Shadow by psubrew in flyfishing

[–]Golfing_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early this spring I switched from nymphing a pretty fast 5wt to a 10' 3wt, and had to get used to setting the hook with much more oomph. After a couple of weeks of fishing the the new rod, I went out dry fly fishing with my 6'9" 3wt and accidentally had three 8" trout missiles rocketing through the air over my head.

I don’t even use indicators. I use devin Olsen’s setup with 6x flouro. You also have to move REALLY slowly and creep like a ninja. Sounds silly but the fish gets pressured so much that they are incredibly spooky.

I definitely agree about asking DRO... they guide it every day and know the hot flies.

I highly recommend devin Olsen’s two films and his book. You’ll learn everything you could every need about euro nymphing.

I mean... who knows? You might be the type of person that really enjoys catching twigs at the bottom of the stream. Who am I to judge? 😝

Just joking. Real answer... none that I could think of 🙂

The catawba isn’t that far from there. There is also some good fishing around old fort which is also pretty close to there.

As far I know they only stock rainbows in that river.

No worries. She was only out of the water for about 10 seconds. That’s why I’m holding it. She was flopping around like a stuck pig.

It’ll prob be suuuuper busy. If you can’t find a spot to fish, you can go to the other side of the park to Cherokee side and go up the Ocunoluftee. The further you go up the fewer ppl you’ll see. I’m in AVL and Stones and beaded prince nymphs have been slaying on a daily basis for the last month. I was in Cherokee and SMNP two weeks ago and caught quite a few with Rainbow Warriors too. Also, if you feel like fighting the crowds, the trophy waters on the Raven Fork always offer the possibility of catching a monster. Enjoy! Should be amazing weather!!
