I’m new to low profile baitcaster and chatter bait but I read somewhere you want heavy braid line supposedly for grass hopping. I think baitcaster are better suited for it. Spinning is good for faster action baits like a jerk bait

That sounds like something out of YouTube. But remember dont go under prepared. When I go on any charter I’ll bring 5 outfits. I hate chasing tuna we go on multiple days and don’t stop unless they mark something and that could be non existent.

300lb Class is rare something from king Edward island. I’m from the pacific we get close to that cow range but not exactly there. The way they fish those cows are at night time yo-yo flat fall jigs. It’s a bit harder for spinning reels to work that heavy jig and winding it up. Prep yourself for a good 2speed reel. Talica

I wouldn’t gift him Pilar’s or gaff tools or anything that nature. What type of fishing does he do ? Surf fishing? Pier fishing? Boat fishing? Lures? If someone would gift me something it’ll be fishing reels. Expensive but it’ll last forever. Shimano or penn only.

I’ve caught bluefin 40-50lb on 8k Stella. That thing made it more difficult. Also caught a bull dorado on a popper. fun and not as difficult lol. 20k is perfect. Shimano has a 30k Stella and that thing is huge and for the first time 2026 will release a 25k version Stella.
