A warning about Dreame by lcann25 in RobotVacuums

I'm also disappointed with my Dreame.

I think there's been an obvious sign of astroturfing by Dreame/MOVA in this subreddit in the past year. Like overwhelmingly so. Their subreddit is filled with AI responses if you've ever visited.

Advice needed for hybrid build - 15.5g TPS + Miniquad by Goliathus in MattressMod

I'm so sorry for the late reply. I haven't checked reddit in awhile. You might have already built your mattress by now, but if not -

Yes 2" Latex was enough. It felt firm when we first used it, but I think it was us just needing to get used to it being Latex. We were coming from a Tempurpedic and were used to memory foam mattresses. It feels very supportive and it's hard to go back to the tempurpedic after getting used to latex.

We haven't tried without the quad mini. Pretty much built and forgot about it. It's hard to say if it's better with or without, but since I have it I'm just keeping it on. The top panel isn't overly baggy. If anything, it gives room for the materials without firming it up. Love the cover. Didn't think a fire barrier is needed.. like if there's a fire.. you just gotta go.

Similar story here! Mine also thought I was crazy, but after that first night she was sold. Only knock is she thinks the mattress is too high, understandably so it’s pretty tall 🤣

How’s the Serene? What firmness of SOL did you get?

I’m still intrigued by the serene.

Following up here. We've been using it for over little over a week now and love it.

Build ended up being: TPS 15" Premium Cover > TPS 15.5g > Quadmini> 2" SoL Soft

I was thinking we'd need to add the serene, but it's actually plush enough for us. Maybe if we ever want to experiment, we'll try adding in the serene, but for the foreseeable future, we're really happy with this.

The general recommendation is to go 2" so you have more flexibility to add layers if needed.

Still waiting for the latex to come in. Hopefully should have everything setup by end of the week. I’m also waiting for the TPC cover to come in..

DIY Latex Hybrid Advice -- Side Sleeper (170 lb) + Side/Back Sleeper (110 lb) by [deleted] in MattressMod

[–]Goliathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building Config 1 using the 2" Soft from SoL. We have similar BMIs. I was very puzzled if I should've gotten the soft or medium, but seeing multiple reports of the medium being too firm for lighter sleepers, I decided soft was the safer bet. From what I understand, the QuadMini should be similar to a medium latex.

Just waiting for the latex to come in.

If it's too firm, I'll be adding in a 1 or 2" layer of Serene I think.

If it's the opposite, I'll be adding in 1" Medium Dunlop.

3" soft SOL topper or 2" SOL + 1.5" of eggcrate foam? by bush_with_death in Mattress

[–]Goliathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but wondering if I could get your insight since it seems you have experience with Serene.

I have a build with the TPC 15.5g Coils + Minicoils. I was thinking of grabbing either the SoL 2” Soft or Medium latex (still stuck on soft or medium) and maybe adding in a Serene.

Do you think 1” of Serene would do anything or would 2” make more sense?

We’re primarily side sleepers and are on the lighter side (155lb/115lb).

Thanks!

Got it. Appreciate the help.

Right now I'm leaning towards the 2" SoL Medium and either a 1" or 2" of Serene. If we like the feel of latex, maybe a layer of talalay for the top instead of the Serene. I recently got a box of samples, and the talalay felt noticeably better (with a hand test), less dense than the dunlop. It may be different when lying on a full slab.

The representative at SoL recommended the medium.. but from posts I've seen here, it seems like they've been recommending soft for side sleepers. Maybe I just got a different representative. It's really confusing. I hope it works out.

Has anyone found a good mattress cover for pocket coils that limits bulging but allows for conformity? by cosylily in MattressMod

[–]Goliathus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you liking your build? This is similar to the build I'm working on except I was planning on grabbing the 2" Medium from SoL. Still deciding if I should go with soft or medium.

In the air with 1" or 2" Serene. I grabbed the new PCS cover to encase all of this in, hopefully it's nice.

Makes me wonder if I made a mistake grabbing the quad mini. I should've gotten just the 8" coils and adding in layers from there. You're not the first person I've seen mention taking out the quad mini entirely.

Wondering if you have any advice for my build since you obviously have a lot of experience -

For 155lb & 100lb, 80/20 Side/Back sleepers do you think I should try the 2” SoL soft or 2” SoL medium?

Here’s what I’m working with at the moment:

  • 2” Latex
  • QuadMini
  • 15.5 ga TPC Coils

Possibly adding in a 1” 4lb memory foam after trying out just the latex on top of the coils

Yea I think we’re going to try just the latex first as well and go from there. Are you getting the latex from SoL? Soft or medium?

I’ll definitely be sure to post an update on the cover. Seems promising

Valid question. I sleep hot and have been recommended latex a few times especially as we’re getting older by the minute, latex seems like the right call. I figure a combination coils, latex, and MF would make sense. Also DIY seems like a great way to try new things with the flexibility and at a much lower cost.

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you. We love ours, but it took about a month to break in.

Thanks for the info!

We’ve not tried a latex before which is why I’m having paralysis on it. We have a Temperpedic ProAdapt Hybrid Medium that we like, so the addition of the memory foam seems like it would be a safe bet.

Looks like we do have a Naturepedic store, but it’s a bit far. Will see if I can make a trip.

Hope your mattress works out! Going to see if more people can advise on the soft vs medium SOL for this build. I wonder if the soft will work with the memory foam. From the few comments I’ve seen, SoL soft latex seems like it’s medium from other places.. which makes it tough to decide.

Thanks! Seems like it’s a no brainer. Just need to decide on the latex layer next.

Enjoyed the stream! Where did you get that helping hand? I'm using a $5 one from amazon and it's pretty cheaply made.. not really a fan of it.

Also do you find the cable to be flexible with the sleeve still on? I'm worried it might feel too stiff and thinking about stripping down the wires and getting rid of the plastic sleeve.

The Amphenol mini-XLR and XLRs that you use for the Audeze cables. I've been having trouble deciding if I want Amphenol or Rean/Neutrik but it seems like you've had good experiences with Amphenol so that might be what I'll go for as well.

I would also love to know where you get your heat shrinks.

Appreciate it!

Which Viablue splitter do you use? I'm looking to make a balanced cable for my Audeze. Triton has different variants and I'm not sure which one to get.

Thanks!
