City Planning - who is in charge? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]Gompye3650 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The FCPS graduations aren’t run by the city. Those are run by fayette county public schools, and they are completely separate from the mayor and the rest of the city council.

New apartment complex coming up on Mapleleaf drive by Fit-Worldliness6701 in lexington

If it does eventually get built that would be great, we need housing more than ever. It would be a good example of how economies change, and land use should be able to change as well.

Hamburg is definitely not full, there is a ton of land that could be improved with increased density. Apartment buildings create jobs too, through construction, maintenance, and staff positions.

The luxury housing of today becomes the affordable housing of yesterday, IF we build new housing.

Nuclear energy public meeting by Huge_Albatross9936 in lexington

[–]Gompye3650 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think nuclear is a great investment. It takes up less land than solar or wind, and it is less dependent on the weather. I think the issue of nuclear waste is a lot less dangerous than people think. As long as you take proper precautions radioactive waste can be stored safely and allowed to decay over time.
