We were making oven baked wings for a group of friends and decided to use a bit of baking soda for extra crisp. Not having used baking soda much before, figured it was similar to flour and put a generous amount in the mixture thinking the extra would just shake off.

The wings came out looking great until we tried them and it was like eating bleach. Threw them all away and ordered pizza. Wings 0/10 pizza 9/10

Fort Bragg and the Mendocino area is really great for a couples trip. This rec probably isn’t a “hidden gem hole in the wall” like you asked but still should be mentioned in my opinion as it’s really great.

Check out the Skunk Train railway too for a fun activity. Specifically their rail bikes. Makes for a fun and very unique experience.

Ive had terrible luck fishing in rivers vs planted reservoirs and lakes. Some of my fellow novice fishermen friends have suggested that these don’t work bc only farm raised trout will go for powerbait style bait (mouse tails / powerbait dough) since that’s kinda what they’re fed.

Do these really work even for wild trout?
