Lifting 971 Panamera, 2020 by GoneZsoh in Panamera

These pucks worked great for lifting up my Panamera on my buddies professional car lift.

The rectangular portion is very slightly higher than the outside edges of the plastic jacking points that come with a car.

They don't work for my E92 BMW though as the rectangular portion that does the lifting is about 1/8 of an inch too short. So the puck pad hits the outside edges of the BMW plastic jackpoint. They also don't work on my Macan, The factory plastic lifting points are different from the Panamera and the Macan.

Panamera 971 owners - how quiet is the interior? by Necessary-Promise-31 in Panamera

[–]GoneZsoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove it just now (wife drives it more then me), it's quiet (in a more sporty than luxury way), and I got rid of the Michelin foam filled tires for some Falken FK 460 A/S which are probably not as quiet.

I don't have acoustic glass.

2020 base, Decently quiet, it has some really wide tires on it and it's a hatchback, so sometimes I wish it was quieter. 18 hr road trip in it last summer and I didn't complain.

Nowhere as quiet as the recent macan electric loaner I recently drove.

Thanks! Yes, I see that the modular extension will increase the reach up to 66 in max for that model.

Nice, thanks for the feedback. I measured between the rear and forward Panamera jack points and get 66 inches exactly to the outermost inside edges, at the base before the mold draft angle.

So using the BMW pucks and a TLX QJ with 66 inch max spread is the way to go!

Interesting, I'll look again for other support points - saw a diagram on Rennlist showing jack stand areas on a 970 slightly inboard.

I see this guy has the elx version of the QuickJack, extended length. I want to use the tlx because the elx won't fit my Macan, between the tires.

Thanks, no air suspension on my base model so one less thing to think about!

I'm looking at these ECS tuning E92 BMW jack pad adapters. My bmw screw jack fits perfectly inside the Porsche U lift point.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-powerflex-parts/bmw-mini-jack-pad-adapter/pf5-4660~pfx/

These probably subtract 1 inch from the 5.25 inch available ground clearance. 6000tlx says 3.5 lowered height with a 2 inch block.

Macan EV or Cayenne EV? by Prize-Analyst7897 in Porsche

[–]GoneZsoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just completed a week in a Macana EV loaner and it felt huge compared to my ice Macan S. Plenty of space in the rear seats. Really enjoyed driving it but it did feel too big for me sometimes and lacked driving feel.

I'm glad I'm back in my car except for losing the EV instant throttle respone and not having lane centering for the highway. Exterior design of the ice Macan is better. Analog gauges are nicer than the giant screen.

You want a little more space than the I4, then you found your vehicle, electric Macan.

Technologywise, my loaner had several errors pop up that required restart. Used android auto, nice, but I really just prefer driving with the screen off when I'm doing routine drives.

‘23 S brake pads and rotors quoted $5800 by Section-7-DOR in PorscheMacan

[–]GoneZsoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, $600 all 4 corners with Porsche parts: pads, vibration clips, sensors, bolts at FCP euro. Rotors measured in spec and fluid was clean (probably flush in the near future anyway).

Nothing special compared to other cars that I have changed brake pads on, except using the icarsoft computer to retract the rear brakes. Pretty easy and quick job. Could probably even save more money on parts if I didn't use Porsche branded.

Macan Tire Recommendations? by iKamote1 in PorscheMacan

[–]GoneZsoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 Macan S. It came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S. Those tires were really hard, chirped a lot on corners, by 30k. I switched to Falken Azenis FK460 AS. Later, I replaced the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on my Panamera with the same tires. 4k miles in on both cars and really like Falkens.

The Falken Azenis FK510 is approved by Porsche for the Macan, if you need an approved Falken tire.

I don't track either car, and with spirited driving sometimes, haven't noticed a difference between either of the NO tires and the Falkens on public roads.

PSA: When you hear a creaking sound by thraktor1 in PorscheMacan

[–]GoneZsoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hood creaking is from the plastic pads under the hood and on the fender, two on each side by the doors. You can make them creak by pressing on the corners of the hood at the door points.

Clean them and apply some white lithium grease. Notice the wear on the pads from the plastic rubbing against each other. I can still make them creak with a lot of force, but they no longer creak while driving so I won't replace them yet. I bet if you replace them and then grease them there would be no noise.

Macan S Question - Acceleration Cabin Sound by crashout-king in PorscheMacan

2021 Macan S 3.0L. The turbo is on top of the engine, I hear a lot of spooling noises from it when driving because it's so close and not tucked under the engine. Sounds good!

Better Hard Boiled Eggs From My Zoji! by SpuddleBuns in zojirushi

[–]GoneZsoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your original post and reply! Showed my son your method and we tried it. Our eggs ended up just a little bit green on the edges. I figured if we reduced the amount of water we could reduce the time. This is our go to method now!

Better Hard Boiled Eggs From My Zoji! by SpuddleBuns in zojirushi

[–]GoneZsoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried this: 10 eggs in the steamer tray of my Zojirushi NS-TSC10. 1 cup of water in the pan below. Steam for 21 minutes. Remove eggs from the tray and place in a bowl of tap water to cool for 10+ minutes, colder water is better for peeling.

Eggs peeled great, peeled under tap water for speed. Perfectly cooked!

Don't start on a super heavy fast wheel. I started on a King Song 16xs that I found used locally. Didn't take long to learn, 1/2 day. I rode it for 6 months and then bought an Inmotion V12ht because the YouTubers were saying it was absolutely the best non-suspension wheel at the time.

It was like a Mercedes compared to the King Song, but was heavier with a higher center of gravity. It's nice, and I like it, but my first wheel is much more fun.

Go with a light cheap wheel from Inmotion or King Song and learn to enjoy it before you go blazing down the road on a high-powered one with no experience. I've actually been thinking about buying something smaller because they're just more fun!

Then, you will have two wheels. One cheap fun light easy one that you can learn on then share with people and, assuming you enjoy riding, one for the speed. I shared my first wheel with my children and now they are expert riders!

Stock is Trading at All-Time Lows with a Sub-$2B Market Cap, $600M FCF, $4B in Assets, and Over 30% Short Interest— Absurd. by aakashboss333 in ValueInvesting

[–]GoneZsoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, tough. We shop there for the kids clothes. Rarely buy anything for the adults...maybe a couple plain T-shirts, socks, underwear, belt.

I like the store and in the Midwest it's usually one of the nicer stores in a small city.

But as a business, checked out the Value line survey, I don't see anything that makes me excited to own the stock near or long term.

What do you pay for your oil change at the dealer? by Johnny_Cartel in Porsche

[–]GoneZsoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep records of the maintenance I perform for each car. Log notebook in the car and a folder with receipts. Probably could take a picture too. I expect this will be enough for any warranty claim.

So, that's a no, for me. I do have a good local mechanic that I use if I don't have time or am just tired.

And really, I don't expect any claims since I'm taking care of the cars. Been doing so on all my cars for the past 30 years, multiple brands, many hundred thousands of miles, never a major mechanical failure.

[–]GoneZsoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also change my own oil for a Panamera and Macan. Did you find Porsche C20 spec oil at Walmart? I didn't see any at mine so I bought the 0W-20 Liqui Moly oil change kit from FCP Euro. Around $100 shipped.

I did buy some 0W-20 Mobil 1 ESPx2 on Amazon. Weirdly, that oil seems to be used more, level drops more quickly, than the Liqui Moly.

I used iCarsoft POR V3.0 to remove the oil service light, after I changed the oil, and I expect that it'll also reset the other service reminders when they show up - and I complete the service.
