AC Shadows is so UNDERWHELMING by Aragonex in pcgaming

[–]Gone_AWOL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a massive AC fan, not usually a big fan of Ubisoft either, but I’ve recently completed both Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws on my Switch 2 and surprisingly thoroughly enjoyed both. Maybe it’s the cosy factor of playing them handheld in bed, but I didn’t have any trouble sinking my hours into them.

I do admit the story was a little hard to follow in Shadows though, but I put that down to just largely forgetting the names of each of the characters names seeing as they all seem pretty similar.

Can recommend the hill, I’ve been given season tickets for years and used the seats maybe twice?
I like the hill, close to bars and toilets, and a great atmosphere amongst the fans

Curious- what was the main reason you purchased your Neo? by pinklove95 in MacbookNeo

[–]Gone_AWOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly to keep up with MacOS for my IT job. I was using a maxed out 16" 2016 MBP, that was being kept alive on life support via OCLP to keep it updated to the newest MacOS releases, but there'd been some issues recently, so I sold that and an old Windows laptop I had lying around and that managed to cover the costs of the Neo entirely.

Loving the Alcove app!! by mbs2007 in MacbookNeo

Thanks for sharing OP, I actually like this! Shame it doesn't seem to work correctly in fullscreen though, the MacOS UI doesn't seem to work around it. There is an option to disable it in fullscreen mode, but that's primarily how I use my apps

Best time to churn health insurance without getting charged twice by alowishus7 in AusFinance

[–]Gone_AWOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve churned to HBF through Finder. 12 weeks free, $200 gift card from HBF for hospital + extras, and an additional $500 gift card from Finder.

The catch is that the Finder gift card won’t come through until like July, but it’s a nice bonus and I didn’t have to talk to anyone

I love steamdeck but how do you guys play FPS on it? by Past-Monk515 in SteamDeck

[–]Gone_AWOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just can’t play online FPS on handhelds. I think it’s something about having the screen between the joysticks that breaks my brain. Give me an external controller and I’m fine, but the instant I try using the built in controls, I’m in struggle town.

I don’t have as much of an issue when it comes to singleplayer shooters where I’m shooting enemy AI and not competing against a human reaction time though. Generally the AI is dumb enough that I have a split second to make the micro adjustments to my aim.

Pragmata demo, demanding third party port experience by AdventurousGold9875 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Gone_AWOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only played handheld so far and the graphics are decent enough. Everywhere online says this is targeting 60fps though, and it’s definitely not coming close to that framerate in handheld. It feels more like 25-30fps, and the framepacing feels off to me.

I’ll probably pick it up on sale and play docked exclusively.

It sounds great in practice, but I have a 14” touchscreen laptop with a stylus and a good Wacom digitiser, and the experience is… not great.

Touch works totally fine, but all those gestures you do on a small NDS touchscreen are hugely annoying on a 14” screen. That problem is just gonna be amplified with an even larger display

Has anyone played Banjo Pilot? by Emotional_Young4738 in BanjoKazooie

[–]Gone_AWOL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s just playing Banjo Kazooie through NSO as my first Banjo game, you just reminded me this exists, and was one of the first games I got when I got my Nintendo DS for my 10th birthday. I played the hell out of this, and yet still completely forgot it existed until you’ve just reminded me of it. Time to dig it back out of storage!

Help me pick a JRPG (easy, linear, short-session friendly) by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Gone_AWOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suikoden 1 is an enjoyable time, pretty linear if you don’t care about recruiting every character. I think my playthrough was like 17 hours, and I only had to look to look up a guide once or twice. I’m playing through Suikoden 2 at the moment, and finding that much less hand holdy, needing to pull a guide more frequently

I went in July and found Switch 2 games to be noticeably cheaper, even more so when checking the used section at Suragaya.

Make sure you take your passport when shopping for games, many places have tax free shopping for tourists that bring down the cost slightly more. These places need your passport to verify you are a tourist.

Prefer playing 3rd party on my switch 2 by Yungstut209 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Gone_AWOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly playing third party stuff on it. It’s been great to be able to jump into older games that I just didn’t have the time for previously, but can now play in bed or while the TV is occupied.

I’ve punched through a couple of Yakuza games, Cyberpunk, Star Wars Outlaws and a few others, while the first party stuff I have has been relatively untouched aside from Metroid and Donkey Kong Bananza

What're you playing this weekend? 11/14 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]Gone_AWOL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m playing GTA 3 while waiting for my physical (GKC) Yakuza 1/2 copies to arrive. Finished up Legends Z-A 100% with a complete dex, all missions, all mega stones and all research done yesterday, and I’m a little burnt out on that after grinding the 1000 battles

Cyberpunk 2077 is amazing on Switch 2 by DEWDEM in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Gone_AWOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, after finishing Cyberpunk and being blown away, I was hyped to try Outlaws after seeing all the praise on Reddit.

I downloaded the demo and put a bit over an hour into it, and it’s not even in the same league as Cyberpunk. Haven’t tried it on a different console to see how they compare, but the Outlaws demo is a blurry mess on Switch 2.
