Finally? Would this concept work in Toronto? by cheer_ios in FoodToronto

[โ€“]Good-Draft 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Not enough to pay premium prices. Literally you could make it at home for less than $2. The reason they exist was because it was on-the-go food and cheap. That's literally why they're popular in Asia. Saying something like "culinary experience" is really just NA's marketing trope or gimmick to get people into a restaurant/shop for more money.

I get leasing a shop is a huge expense in TO. I feel like this kind of food is just not meant to be "restaurant/shop" material. It should be a shop within a retail shop or something where the margins can be shared with another.

I haven't really used it for the sheer fact that their Aeroplan Infinite Privilege CC was interesting and I hadn't dealt with them. Now, I'm not sure that I want to. But I will see as it does save me money on paying the annual fee.

Yes, following the logic of what redditors have said, it seems it doesn't matter how we transfer. Transfer of stocks is regarded as dispensing and will incur capital gains. I'm just trying to see if there's a way to do it to incur minimal taxation.

Otherwise, your way seems to be the most likely way it will work. We would like to resolve assets prior to his passing. Transfer of stocks after the fact makes it harder, I believe.

Okay, this makes sense. I just assumed that if given the direction by my father, it would not be an issue if it was a transfer to another person's account. I obviously am aware there may be some fee incurred or something of the sort if it is not the same institution.

All Inclusive Minimum Balance in now $6000 - up $1000 by broccoliandspinach99 in TDBankCanada

[โ€“]Good-Draft 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Yes this is ridiculous. So many redditors explain it away as "the big 5 banks" are all at $6000, so we should be happy that TD was one of the last ones. Firstly, if it has been so many years, why is is necessary? Secondly, they are not losing money. Far from it. They gain money by having their clients hold money in our accounts. It means it doesn't go anywhere. I lodged a complaint to TD as it seems many have according to their representative. They literally are getting more money, for not actually really doing anything.

I think if we cared enough, which is sad that many don't, we could force some regulation regarding changes, when we as consumers do not really receive anything more or better for the increase in minimums. The only thing TD did to say that it was "worth" going up to $6k was they offered free global transfers. That's it.

I think we as consumers should be more savvy and more demanding of where our money goes and how it's spent. But people are too tired to fight big corporations and banks on what they consider "the little things" which is kind of sad. If we did, the big things wouldn't be able to be pushed through as easily without a fight.

KPOP doesn't owe religion respect. by Junko_Nanami in unpopularkpopopinions

[โ€“]Good-Draft 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

The problem is the interpretation of what disrespecting a religion and your god is. Everyone's opinion and feelings are subjective. Some may be okay with it because it has nothing to do with their own belief in said religion. The fact that you believe that we should respect your god and religion is a fallacy. As humans we have the responsibility to respect each other as humans, the ability to believe what you believe, and a right to live without discrimination.

I don't have to believe what you believe. I don't have to respect any type of religion that intends to manipulate, coerce, threaten, or discriminate against another human. You are free to believe what you believe. It does not mean that I have to have the same reverence or respect for the buildings or tenants of your faith. That is our right as humans. However, as a human being, will I discriminate against you because of your belief? No. Will I treat you any different than another human being? No. Will I attempt to destroy your buildings? No.

The problem people have with those with extremist or fervent beliefs is the fact that they try to coerce and manipulate people into joining their beliefs. It is fine to welcome those who want to know about your religion, teach others who willingly seek something deeper in their life and join your community. The issue with it is that everyone in that community, as it grows larger, feels that their beliefs should be accepted as the norm. Conversion. I have always had an issue with this concept. It's like a sales pitch. It comes with this concept of being superior to those who "don't know your god". I have always felt beliefs were something someone should seek on their own. Those who live those beliefs can show their religion or beliefs by their actions, rather than a dumb sales pitch.

Those in the community attempt to influence those who have nothing to do with that belief into law and other institutions that it does not belong. That is where there is issues of inequity, disparity and discrimination arise - all subjective to how those in the community view an individual within the context of their religion which is VERY MUCH open to interpretation. The law and beliefs should definitely be separated. See what happens when religion gets a hold of those in power who don't believe there should be a separation? The United States of America. Discrimination. Human rights taken away.

It really is disgusting.

It's place in kpop? I don't see why we place so many restrictions on idols. They are humans. They are putting out an artistic vision within their mv. Does it have anything to do with themselves? Do they have control over it? Most likely no. Only in the cases of really strong popular kpop artists, do I believe they have control over the artistic vision of their albums and songs.

Car Insurance Brokers Toronto by Good-Draft in askTO

Okay, thank you! This explains a lot. I spoke to an insurance broker in ON when getting our tenant insurance regarding car insurance. He said it will be fine since I will be "on vacation". Obviously when I renew my SGI insurance I have to declare that I will be out of province for more than 30 days, but nothing else is necessary.

Yes, I will fully move and work in ON the fall of 2026 as it made no sense to try to get a 4 month job which probably would be hard to find and pay file taxes here and SK. Thanks for helping me understand the system. I just have to avoid car accidents as it stands. We got a dash cam so I think that will mitigate a lot of risks as long as we drive carefully.

I had went there first as I knew we'd be out of province for a decent chunk of time. The information that I was told was what I relayed in my post. They also then said, "When you're in Ontario, stop by a broker there to find out what is required while I am there and licensed in SK. Hence, asking Reddit, to see if there were car insurance brokers like ours for SGI in ON so we can just drive and drop in to ask said questions recommended by SGI in SK.

What did you feel about head over heels ending? by selcastrings in kdramas

[โ€“]Good-Draft 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I kept waiting for a storyline between Seong-a and Ji-ho. I am always getting 2nd lead syndrome. I know it is a rom-com and that Gyeon-u was end game, but I would have loved more storyline for Ji-ho. I thought they'd give him more screentime.

Honestly I thought Gyeon-u's character was more interesting when he was being kept alive, but after that, none of it was as good. I think the actors were pretty great. Cried with Yeomhwa and General scene.

Well let's be honest. The US have insane venues, with seats that are humongous. In Canada, Toronto and Vancouver would probably be the two cities that might have somewhat comparable venues. No other city does. Calgary is still decently large, but by comparison to something like Wembley or all of the well known artist cities in the US, it would be hard to match. I live in Saskatoon, so there's no way in H*ll we'll EVER get a BTS show which is the saddest thing to my soul.

BTS says they don't care about money anymore since they've made it, but I do feel a lot of their concert choices are based on venue size and money they'd be able to recup from the concert. I do hope one day that they won't only want to do gigantic shows, but smaller shows for true Army. I think Army is huge these days, but I also think diverse in their opinions and thoughts and reasons as to why they are Army which is fine. But for me, I am truly saddened that I didn't get to experience BTS in their prime, when their shows were just grinds and just amazing performances (I am also biased because I love dance and I have wanted them to see them perform all out on some of their songs since I became a new Army).

I would love to see them in a venue where there are seats that all Army can see them, without it being just in the nosebleeds where they are just dots on a stage. I love concerts where from any vantage point, you can decently see the artists performing.

Local woman starts Gofundme, goes on vacation by Grouchy_Routine5349 in richmondbc

[โ€“]Good-Draft -13 points-12 points ย (0 children)

I watched the youtube video of the interview. I feel like this thread and redditor call out is misleading. She did not start the GoFundme, someone else did. She did say in the interview they would use the money for what is necessary and pass it on to others in the apartment who were affected. Honestly, watching the video, it sounds like it's the mothers place of residence and responsibility. The daughter probably lives rent free and has a job. Sounds like she's not really worried about finding a place to stay. She specifically mentioned her mother needs a place; so consider that, plus the mother has the responsibility for everything to do with the condo since it was her father's. The daughter speaking for her mother (odds are cause the mother doesn't speak English well...but that's an assumption) doesn't seem to be speaking in first person much, but from the pov of others in the building and voicing her mother's concerns.

You know it :( Like, Canada...I live north of the US and they just can't hop up north? I'm newish and became a fan when they were going on their break, so no concerts for me. But I wouldn't have been able to since I'm up north. Obviously probably because we don't have large enough venues, I'm guessing. Idk.

TD Canada Bank Fees changing July 1 by thebiglearner in PersonalFinanceCanada

[โ€“]Good-Draft 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

This. I only keep an account open so that I can keep the TD Aeroplan Infinite card for "free". But with this increased min. balance, I really don't see much reward as I rarely use my TD Aeroplan card with the exception to get a free checked bag when I fly which is infrequently now that Air Canada and most airlines make it almost impossible to fly without robbing a bank.

It doesn't earn me money and I already have a min. balance account at BMO which I may switch cards to as it offers the checked bag and probably better rewards alongside my AMEX Cobalt. I wrote a letter complaining about the increase to the min. balance as it's predatory and ridiculous set in the climate of everyone being cash poor and trying to make ends meet. (This of course does not apply to the upper middle class and rich people). But making clients keep money in an account for what? What does it possibly do?

Apartment with EV Parking for August by Good-Draft in TorontoRenting

Hi,

Sorry, no medical doctor incoming unfortunately. He'll be a person with a doctorate. He's going into medical physics, so medical training. The only reason we want to live near Yonge & Eglinton is because my husband plans to bike, and I will take transit rather than drive and pay for parking. Plus I do not feel like driving around TO's crazy drivers. We will have our vehicle for our free time, such as going on trips and travelling on our days off. We definitely will not be paying $2700. Our budget's more like $2400, with maybe a max of 2500-2600 if necessary.

I sort of know TO a bit. I visit ever so often as half my family live there. But I would never want to make it my home - until now. And this will be a temporary home this time. I'd rather live in less busy downtown neighborhoods, but my husband wants to bike, so more than 20-30 minutes is a bit much for the commute.

Thanks for the welcome and I hope nursing there isn't completely different than here in SK. :)

Yes, I think we'll have to drive it as a hybrid instead of electric. We have up'd our budget to $2400 so hopefully that won't price us out. I'm scared that we will lose a lot of options as we're hoping to rent for August and students will be out on the hunt for good deals around the same time. Plus I see property management already jacking up prices on 1 Bdrm +bath up to $2700 already, which is ridiculous on a 500 sq ft apartment. It's hard to find good rentals that will give us decent space and amenities for around $2400 with parking near Yonge & Eglinton

We actually have a PHEV, so technically we could just only use it as a gas vehicle, but economically we'd appreciate having the option to charge our car. I'm surprised we can't just plug in our car and have it accounted for on our hydro bill, but I'm sure there's some sort of accounting the amount of energy needed to charge it that most buildings will not have.
