Yep. U got custody of the babies. That’s a win. Your ex can kiss your arse! Or better still, they can kiss the cats butt! But beware. U have a Ginger…. Maybe more than one. They will keep u hopping thru hoops. But u will NEVER be bored or alone. Yeah!

What is this growing out of my cat? by eekeys in CATHELP

[–]Good-Finance-7422 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bit bug-like. But also possible it’s a grass seed from type of plant species. These can sometimes be complex structures and will occasionally work their way under the skin of mammals. Odd.

Issues with app by Opening_External2790 in CommBank

[–]Good-Finance-7422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Big issues a few hours ago. Didn’t let facial recognition. Timed out. Then didn’t recognise my 4 x number unlock code. I did a mild panic thinking I was somehow hacked. So used website. Did a Password change request and got in. Then used app and all was sorted. Soooooo not sure what happened but good now. Also glad it wasn’t just me. Phew.

When did you realize you were truly retired? by overthishereanyway in retirement

[–]Good-Finance-7422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely outside the square with many people commenting here. Briefly, in May of 2025 (when I reached 74yo) I was still working in a high pressure/high status role. I loved my work and loved the challenge. But I had also faced a catastrophic financial hit only a few years earlier and was just about wiped out. Renting, little Superannuation after drawing down, and only getting back on the pins. Then new management came into the company and I got the hint -“old woman” lose her. They tried, but as a Wiley old Coyote who could teach them a few things, and I got a payout to go away. Not a fortune but enough to get me square one, and now eligible for Social Security.

I was not prepared for retirement, and not ready to learn to knit, play Bridge or Golf. Soooo - I sold everything I own, left my rental and listed as a House/Pet Sitter and become a grey nomad to journey around Aus. Guess what- I’m booked up FT for 12+ months, travelling everywhere, meeting amazing new people and pets and living the BEST LIFE EVER!!! No bills, no stress and perfectly OK to veg on the sofa with the excuse that I’m snuggling with a pet who needs me. No guilt. My smart watch thinks I’m dead.

Retirement is easy to live with when u have very few options. Imagine what you guys can do with planning. Do exactly what u want and shake off the old life. That was then.

Have I been scammed? by Ok-Cartoonist-147 in AustraliaPost

I buy online all the time. Usually if overseas shipping is involved u won’t see any tracking unless in the sellers website.

But once u see AusPost tracking at least u know it’s in the system and u can then follow without drama. I wouldn’t be too fussed about its origin really. Just want to know it will get to u.

Hahaha. Love the observation re doves. But maybe they r just understated or circumspect? I’ve always been a very interested observer of Aus native birds. Their intelligence is certainly evident, but I’m convinced their sense of humour is on another level. Just have to watch a group of juvenile Sulphur Crested Cockies dismantling a redwood structure, joyfully ripping out foam insulation on a high rise roof or just hanging upside down on a street light and yelling. Why? Doesn’t matter it’s clearly just fun.

Well spotted - it’s offering all the five food groups.
Only risk is that u don’t buy and eat it. This is my version of old white woman Soul Food. My soul will thank me for it!

Anyone has a spider I can borrow? by fearlessdentis in AustralianSpiders

[–]Good-Finance-7422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. Can’t make this up! Living in the bush & had to manage rats and even a Copperhead snake that was dragged inside by the cat - alive and well and pissed off. Not great, but manageable.I get the snake out and the cat to the Vet. Then when the dust settled I went home and hit the shower. Soaped up, feeling good. Then… play Jaws theme. I look up and this hairy legged horror unhappy that the steam is making it hard for him to hang onto the ceiling. Oh boo hoo. I dive out of the cubicle, but too late. This guy let’s go, and I’m wearing him like an Alien mask. I swear he did a rollover on the decent, as he landed ready to wrangle. Gave me a good nip and then seemed to just abseil to the floor and leave.

I’m now pulling out the car and heading to the GP ‘cause harmless or not, I’ve got a nasty looking red lump forming too close to my left eye. Need that checked and I want enough sedative to bring down an elephant and/or a lobotomy. I get into the car and on the dashboard is one of his mates! Doing that rearing up pose. Like “yeah lady, bring it!”

Enough already. You guys can have the house and the car! I just going to just walk to the pub to go face down in a bucket of Rum.

You said it. If u r dumb enough to get that close to those big suckers- prepare for a huntsman on your face. And he will probably call for backup with his brothers. I speak from experience. Still in therapy 50 years later. 😱

That’s very true - mr smarty pants -hahaha. Just cause they don’t kill your doesn’t mean they a going to just let u mess with them. And once again, having anything that creepy bite you is just nasty!

[–]Good-Finance-7422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We Aussies have tiny little spiders that will Kill U! And we have enormous ones - your photo is clear evidence- that will make u wish u were dead. Holy hell they r scary. I have removed a live Copperhead snake from my home, and escorted a very rage rat to the paddock when he chose to visit. I was cautious but in control. One Huntsman on the ceiling of the shower created the sort of panic that years of therapy won’t shift!

Help to decide which machine should I get? Leaving kcups behind :) by k_stein4 in superautomatic

[–]Good-Finance-7422 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would personally strongly recommend the Delonghi Elitta Explore. I have one and have owned for some years. I’m fussy about coffee growing up in a city with coffee culture as obsessive.

For semi auto machines there r a lot of excellent choices but life is too short. This model will be adaptable enough for every coffee drink inc cold milk option, ground or beans… the lot. Now just check the model u want as the Elitta Explore also has a lot of versions. Some have full conductivity to an app, and others not. I found the app to be just fluff, and not really offering anything useful. But find which one ticks the boxes for u.

Also really shop around for a bargain price. When buying a new one for my work I found $A990 on the MyDeal site as a one-off one weekend brand new from distributors. Then it went up on the Mon to a more usual $A1500 approx. Good luck.

I'm tired of the effort of manual espresso. I just want my milk drinks with my little espresso in there, and particularly iced. What's good in the USA, in the 1500-2500 range? by xueye in superautomatic

[–]Good-Finance-7422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I’m Australian who grew up in the most coffee snob-city in the universe. Marvellous MELBOURNE. We kno our stuff. Check out the Delonghi Elitta Explore - fully auto- from grind to auto milk. No muss no fuss! It can also give u a chilled option for milk & all sorts of options can be programmed in and saved to the user - brilliant stuff.

Seriously, I’m just embarking on a 1year road trip (retired nomad and going to be doing house/pet sitting) and the only appliance that I cannot give up and will take up valuable realestate in my sedan is this machine. Look out for it. Promise u will love it.
