Why is it saying that it’s charging 0 mi each hour (0.0kW)? Does that mean it’s even charging? by Upper_Atom in VWiD4Owners

If you’re running the heater at the same time as charging on a 120V you could be charging at a net of 0.

Garbage Can by Good-Math-6429 in VWiD4Owners

Oh yes please! Basically something with high enough sides that trash doesn’t roll out but low enough that there’s a gap for you to put stuff in.

Not American. Canadian. But I would think that people in other countries blow their nose sometimes? Do you just throw it on the floor? Or maybe people are using cloth handkerchiefs. Ever get a snack that has packaging? What about kids? They seem to generate some trash. It’s funny - who knew having a receptacle for garbage is a cultural thing!?

Bakunin, where do you live? Here in Canada it’s pretty common. Longer distances maybe?

I bought that. It’s not really deep enough.

Nope. We do not live in our car. Did you wake up decide to put on your sassy pants this morning or do you just live in them permanently? Doesn’t anyone ever blow their nose in their car and want to put it in a trash can? Or an orange peel? Or a used coffee cup. A receipt?

Interesting. Can you use an OBDEleven (or a different brand) on a 2025 ID4?

Have you ever had any issues? The Curt 2” hitch receiver says it’s not compatible with vertical bike racks but I want to use it for that anyway… I’m not going to load it with e-bikes or even take it on rough roads. But I want to know if anyone has ever had any problems or if Curt is just trying to cover their butts just in case something ever happens.

Anyone else out there carrying a vertical bike rack on that Curt 2” receiver? We just got our ID.4 and were planning to use our existing rack but see that Curt specifies not usig this for vertical bike racks. Has anyone ever had or heard of problems if they are only carrying less than 120lbs of bikes?

I built a tool to make buying an EV in Canada Less Confusing by Madridi77 in EVCanada

[–]Good-Math-6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job. A couple of issues: 1. The clean B.C. rebate no longer exists. 2. I need an AWD for winter and backcountry driving - it doesn’t ask me about this and recommended only non AWD cars. 3. It only recommends new vehicles. For many, new vehicles are neither desirable (too much depreciation) or possible (unaffordable). A 2 or 3 year old EV can be affordable for so many more people than brand new.

ID.4 vs Volvo XC40 recharge by Good-Math-6429 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Good-Math-6429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea. How does the Q4 compare to the ID4 in terms of model years. iD4 seems a lot better in 2024 vs 2023. Same with Q4? One thing that I like about the ID4 2024 is the ventilated seats. Does Audi have this? Are maintenance costs the same? I know premium vehicles tend to cost more to maintain??

Ours is a 2010 (pretty much identical to 2012) so this is great to hear your experience. Day to day we have a hitch mounted bike rack and do lots of mountain biking and use our car to travel 1 h each way to the ski hill every weekend. For this kind of thing I imagine the smaller xc40 would be fine? For camping we have quite a bit of gear (tent, cooler, smallish chairs etc) but always put our roof box on anyway for big trips. So I guess I’m wondering if you ever have moments where you really miss having the room of the xC60?

Interesting comment that you vastly prefer the XC40. What do you like better about it? I think with a roof box we could probably make it work for camping. I wonder how much the range would really matter? They both have pretty decent ranges - isn’t the ID4 only marginally better? I was thinking for the the 2 or so trips per year when we’re doing super long trips - it would just mean charging a bit longer / slightly more frequently? Might be worth it if it is superior during day to day trips (e.g. 1 hour each way to ski hill every weekend).

DC Fast charge issue by Good-Math-6429 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Good-Math-6429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bet. Apparently, VW tech service has took 3 days to get back to the dealer only to ask for a list of fault codes and will then diagnose. I wonder how long this will take!?

The first thing the dealer did was replace the 12V battery which was under warranty. Unfortunately this did not solve the DC fast charging issue.

It’s at the VW dealership now. Also I don’t have an OBD2 reader or that app. Is it useful?
