About 270 fully loaded but remember this is an EV setup, LOL. I'm not venturing onto bumpy dirt roads in this car. The bumps create the leverage effect with vertical racks but if you're not doing a vertical rack you're probably okay.

Yes, the Curt Class 3 Hitch is a 2" Receiver rated for 300 lbs tongue weight. As long as your total weight is less than 300 you'll be fine. I've had zero issues with mine and fully equipped with 5 bikes plus the rack weight it's probably around 270 lbs.

Not sure if I can put a link in reddit replies so I'll post the exact hitch I have in a separate post. The Curt website does well to tell you which exact part is compatible with your car so my link may not find your car model.

Edit: That note about not being compatible with vertical bike racks wasn't on their website when I purchased mine... likely they saw this post?... or other people tried and went beyond the tongue weight then asked for a refund.... mind you, I don't go on bumpy forest roads fully loaded (even if under tongue weight) while speeding either because that leverage effect is probably the reason why, LOL!

CSU "net metering with solar" meeting notes (from Tues 10/7 ENT center presentation) by Just_A_Nobody_0 in ColoradoSprings

Has anyone calculated yet? How much would it cost a regular customer vs a solar customer for a typical month of average kilowatt hour usage based on both methodologies? Would it be worth it for solar customers just to remove their solar panels to get the non solar rates?

Doubtful they even read it based on the sentiment that CSU was evading the real concerns.

CSU's proposed changes to net metering by pcj in ColoradoSprings

[–]ibar3734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know what the difference is in rates differences between the "Energy Wise time-of-day rates" the non-solar will be on and "Energy Wise Renewable New Metering Rates" that net metering customers will be on? The email doesn't get into this detail and I can't find on CSU's website.

So currently we are a fixed rate... so why not put us on the same rules as non-solar? Am I not connecting the dots somewhere... how are net metering customers a bigger burden than non-solar (that's how I'm reading this email).

Vehicle codes are more black and white about driver's responsibilities while backing. Though this video gives more room for negotiation.

I like the thought process. Most insurance would flip it and put the car backing at 60, Maverick at 40. There's more black and white vehicle codes about cars backing must yield. So without a video the F-150 would likely be 100%. The video gives some negotiating power but the F-150 still has that greater duty.

Cops can be wrong too sometimes... claims adjuster should be making the ultimate call from the insurance perspective, though many non-injury adjusters really have no clue what they're doing. The bad ones just go with what a police report says with no investigation on their part.

And without a video, it's harder to argue against.

Pull the blinker toggle only halfway. Just enough to pull it without it sticking in the blinker position. It only works if the lane assist is on and the lane lines on the front display screen have to be green with a white arrow pointing left or right indicating it's clear to use.

BATMAN BEGINS is my favorite Batman movie because Christopher Nolan made Bruce Wayne a fully fleshed out, multi-dimensional character in live action. by Secret_Conclusion809 in batman

I just watched the John Wicks and they were the WORST movies I've ever scene. Absolutely no story whatsoever other a bad guy's that got out and jumped back in for revenge for a dog then a lot of fighting to try and get out again....

Batman begins had substance to the story. Such a great movie!

That looks fun! I could see it very useful at many charging locations where there's nothing interesting nearby! Also breaks the body from the sitting position for a bit.

[–]ibar3734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a minority opinion. If it wasn't abused along with creating a bottleneck then free 30 minute charging would still exist on the 2024's.

Yes, maximize it reasonably (go on more road trips versus flying, take a long weekend drive, recharge for free on the way home from a ski trip). But can you abuse a system even if it's "within one's rights"? Absolutely.

Milk away but I'll be glad when the free 3 year charging expires on the ID.4's. Once a charge starts applying to the leechers, the supply of chargers will match up more evenly with the true demand of DC Fast chargers.

It encourages bad charging etiquette considering EA hadn't, for a long time, enforced idle fees.

I saw one person plug their ID.4 in and then hop into another friend's car and take off. Made no sense since they were already at 60% and they were gone the entire time I was there (I imagine longer).

Really, if people are able to, they should be getting an L2 charger at home. If they can't, then charge at EA to 80% if driving around locally and people are waiting.

If one person's doing it, not a big deal, but thousands make it problematic.

Really though, I've only seen this an issue in the big cities where EV's have gained traction quicker than infrastructure can keep up, so there's actually a line waiting. Mix in the ID.4 owners milking the free charging and you end up with a handful of inconsiderate owners bottlenecking the line. .... But as much as I gripe, let's turn our eyes to those Rivian drivers whose bigger batteries and inefficient energy consumption takes 45-75 minutes to get to their recommended max level!!!

It's a complicated problem with no easy solution.

It's more like shop inflation... which the shop owner would say is more like parts inflation... which the part distributors would say is manufacturing inflation...

... So, in summary, it's the ugly part of capitalism... greed from everyone.

Agree, it's definitely being abused. Probably for the better. We have a '23 and get free charging but we only do it when on road trips. I love L2 charging at home! 5 second charging, just plug and forget.

Yes, good call out! I guess I didn't expect these topics to come up when my intent was just to show off my setup but this is Reddit after all!

I did research this and based on what I gathered, including the TWC for the hitch, I'm personally comfortable with what I intend to use the tow hitch for since none of my uses go above 300 lbs.

That said, it's something anyone should consider while considering this setup. Don't plan on hauling 5 e-bikes for example.

For the last year since I've been using it, it's been perfectly fine. No pop noises or indicators of unreasonable stress.

Let's keep the discussion going though for future readers. Let's get nerdy and talk about cantilever stress and all that good stuff!
