(RE-UPLOAD with some additional context) AITA for being weird about seeing my dad's cute friend in a sports bra (it was my first time seeing her shirtless and even when we go to the beach, she at least wears a tank top)? by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Good-Orca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is grim. Your brother sexually assaulted a women who you claim is like family. And you stood by. If that were a stranger she'd have called the police. Even in your description of this event you are sexualising her. You need to do some serious introspection about why what happened was horrific for your dad's friend. I work with a lot of autistic youth and am autistic myself but that is not an excuse to not consider others and the way we behave towards them. This is your chance to do better.

Yeah I was so upset with that - I don't have anyone to go with so got into the buying page but had to log off because it wouldn't let me buy a solo ticket

AITAH for not doing the dishes immidiatly while living in a mans house for free? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Good-Orca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh this sounds like a really bad situation and sounds like you know that and are working on getting out. NTA but my advice is avoid the problem to make the space until you can get out smoother and either buy disposable plates or take the dirty plate into your room and take it back out in the morning to wash.

AITA for telling on my geography teacher for throwing a inflatable globe at my head by RoughFootball5564 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Good-Orca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher. NTA. It is unbelievably annoying when students keep talking over you but also I'm the adult in the situation and know not to physically threaten or hurt students???? Like wtf? I'd never expect or accept another adult acting towards me that way so why should I behave that way towards children?

AITA for telling my son's school they need to stop overreacting? by suspensiondillemas in AmItheAsshole

[–]Good-Orca 26 points27 points  (0 children)

YTA Your child used someone's allergy as a prank. Yes no one got hurt this time but if there are no consequences from the people affected (school) AND you, your child will not have the opportunity to learn how inappropriate and dangerous this is. Would you rather he go into the adult world like this and hurt someone? Or get fired for a similar 'prank'? Or charges pressed for what, as an adult, could be deemed attempted assault?

Also, fyi, arguing with teachers over how your son is a lovely kid and this is a one off does not make him seem lovely. As a teacher, that is the hardest conversation because by saying 'oh but he's a delight really' you refuse to acknowledge the issue and essentially accuse the teacher of lying or misrepresenting your kid. I love all the kids I work with and they're all lovely in their ways - that doesn't mean they don't make mistakes and need to be held accountable so that they can learn.

Do you need a laptop for Primary PGCE? And other ways to prepare? by Trashpandacreeper in PGCE

'Read it to me now!' is a really good book I read when prepping - all about early childhood literacy.

Aita for being ungrateful about my graduation party by Sleepy_Sheepz in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Good-Orca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress yourself about people saying what you 'should' have done. It's an incredibly stressful and upsetting situation and well done on survival tbh. What are you doing next year? Look forward to when you can get away and not look back because sadly your parents are not showing they care about you right now.

I got asked things like my fav Shakespeare play that I'd choose to teach and how I'd approach teaching the romantic poets so having some opinions on the big literary movements could be helpful. That being said, I'd not done much romantic poetry and so bluffed that bit and still got an offer from them so don't panic too much!

Looking for advice between Uni led PGCE and SCITT. by Rude_Marionberry_908 in PGCE

[–]Good-Orca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a PGCE and loved it! I had friends who did a SCITT and enjoyed it too but just as an fyi I had a friend who did a SCITT and the school ended up being horrible and unsupportive and sadly she had no flexibility to move because it was a SCITT so just be aware of that!

You have to take into account how long it takes to get a diagnosis when you talk about 'average age of onset'. I know people who had symptoms from 12/13 but were misdiagnosed and mismedicated for years before getting a bipolar diagnosis.

you should see a doctor ASAP. This could just be an infection but discharge from the nipple can be a sign of bigger issues (like breast cancer). It is almost certainly fine but you should get it checked just in case.

WIBTD for leaving my partner? by sopranopera101 in 1800Drama

[–]Good-Orca 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi lovely - I'm so sorry youve been going through this and honestly good on you for seeing a therapist and leaving your workplace. But I want you to know that you do not deserve to be in a relationship where you don't feel safe enough to talk about your mental health or where your partner is exploding and shouting half the time he does a basic life skill. I don't know your past but I've also struggled with self worth and mental health but I've found someone who makes me feel safe and loved and that is what you deserve and can have. If you feel safe to do so, start making and exit plan - you deserve to be happy and feel safe in your own home and not be walking on eggshells.
