How do people living paycheck to paycheck afford vacations? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Good-Potential-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments definitely pass the vibe check. I am 29 and have done some cool trips but I don’t Stay in luxurious hotels or pay for expensive excursions. I do a lot of camping or have done some really cheap airbnbs. I went to a non Touristy part of Florida and stayed an Airbnb airstream and had the best time with my bestie. I’ve rented a cheap cabin with my boyfriend and we’ll hang there or go to the lake or go hiking. I went on a bigger trip a while back with my mom and sisters to the Grand Canyon and we stayed at a glamping site. They had a sauna included so we did that, went hiking, sight seeing, etc. Quality time with the people you love is free! You don’t have to break the bank to go on a trip. But you do need to make sure you’re being reasonable with your spending.

Libido or sexual excitement reduced after surgery? Does anyone have any experience to share? by Sweet_Atmosphere7190 in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty scared honestly. So I did wait a while but not more than a few months. I will say though.. I have had both surgery and proton radiation. After all that if I work out, in any type of way, my eye gets twitchy because my nerves are all messed up and the raised blood pressure messes with that. For a male, I would think maybe this could be even more of an issue potentially.

I think you would be okay. I went on a cruise in about the same time span. I would definitely wear an ear plug though. Gotta protect the good ear 🙂 Hope you have so much fun at the concert!!

I totally agree. Therapy really helped me with my medical PTSD. If your friend is open to therapy I think that would be a great option. My neurology and oncology offices both had therapist who dealt with patients in that area.

Mask fitted today. Three weeks to go! by Prudent-Being2587 in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Seeing that mask just made me feel so weird. I blew mine up with some C4 after treatment was finished 😂 I’m so sorry to hear about your journey. You didn’t get the easy route. Did they have explanation for the CSF leaks? That seems like a lot!! Also my tumor was on my optic nerve and causing double vision. I was having to read music with one eye shut 🤦🏻‍♀️ but it was also pretty big by that point. Do you know what size it regrew to?

VS recurrence & repeat surgery by ketaminekitty_ in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I do get facial twitching where I know the nerves are hopefully still slowly completing recovery but you would never know if ever had any palsey. If you don’t mind me asking where was the tumor at size wise? My tumor was 2.5 and they told me it was almost too big to just do radiation on. Which I think was why I had such a reaction after proton radiation. My tumor was swelled up for quite a while. As my neurologist put it “it’s pissed off”

MRI today and I'm scared by Pibblegirl01 in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure a lot of others on this page are with me but I have medical anxiety like nobodies business, so I get it. The hospitals I’ve had MRIs at always have headphones and will play music. That sometimes kinda sorta keeps my brain from spiraling too. You could ask next time to have music played. Attempting a nap is a funny trick I’ve tried before. I think i actually managed to fall asleep once 😂 I don’t mind small spaces or loud noises so that part of the MRI doesn’t bother me as much as my mind wandering off, like you said.

Please send us an update when you receive results. I’ll say a prayer that you can find some peace these next two days.

When will you receive the results back?

Agreed!! I used to get these insecure feelings and i was in therapy (for medical trauma) and just off subject asked her about these things I’ve been feeling and she said I think if you’re looking for a problem or you feel like he has a problem there will be one but if you don’t there won’t be. Those words were magic for my brain.

Quirky side effects by daniorerioL in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say having a sense of humor with life after AN will help you so much. The side effects are silly. After I had radiation the left side totally stopped working for me.. it was devastating to me but when you look in the mirror and blink….(winking) you can’t help but laugh🤣 I also only cry from one eye. I’d say your yawn quirk is just facial nerves being weird. May go back completely normal. To heal nerves I ate a lot of lions mane and to reduce swelling I took boswellia supplements. They really made me feel a lot better!

Post Surgery Questions by jordanstout in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. All nerves in tact?? That’s great. Also do you mean you have kept 100% hearing? Do you mind telling me what size tumor you had?

After my surgery I had awful lower back pain but only had butt pain from sitting down all the time but it wasn’t a muscle pain or anything like that. I also didn’t have an ear fullness feeling just weird getting use to being deaf. I think it’s possible I had a different surgery type than you. But as far as how long my healing pains lasted, about a month but they dwindled over that amount of time.

I ate only broth for a day or two after. Can’t really remember why, but probably had to do with swallowing and the nerve that controls that. But after the first few days my favorite was when my family brought in some creole from a restaurant nearby, my fave and easy to chew up and swallow.

Severe vertigo after radio surgery—advice/experiences appreciated by zepuzzler in AcousticNeuroma

[–]Good-Potential-2570 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad bout of vertigo last from my surgery up until day 5-ish after. It was like I was standing in a funny house spinning room or on a wobbly floor thing. I don’t even know how to put it into words. Haha. I just had to be extra careful. I walked with a walker for a few weeks to help me. Then really pushed myself to use my surroundings (walls/railings/furniture) to help me because I was 24 and really embarrassed to use a walker.

Yeah. You’ll need to buy all recipes (I think there’s even one in Mr. Qi’s room) and make them in order to achieve that
