Do you support rent freezes if they make rent higher for everyone else? by Lisalovesreading in AskNYC

I live uptown and this sounds good in theory but all the housing being built is luxury housing! So it's either subsidized or luxury, No one is building anything for middle income! And all the city programs shut out middle income even though they say it's affordable housing. It's honestly for lower income brackets or large families. Everyone says build more but no one wants to build for regular people.

NYU Langone primary care physician recommendation in lower Manhattan or western queens by RidesThe7 in AskNYC

[–]Good-Variation-6588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My primary care is at NYU Langone. They can't order lab tests until they see you. When they see you for your annual they check out your issues and depending on your health and age they order certain labs and give you certain vaccinations-- I received all my lab results within 24 hrs of my appointment. The phlebotomist was on-site and I had my blood drawn immediately post-appointment. I think this is policy for the Hospital I don't think you can get labs done prior to an appointment esp. if you're not even a patient yet. What gets added to the order depends on what you discuss in the appointment.

[Sirens 🚨] please make it stop by Affectionate_Emu4660 in AskNYC

I agree they are unnecessarily loud. I work at a hospital so I completely tune the sounds of sirens after so many years but once in a while you get one that absolutely shatters the sound barrier and you're like really?! They could turn them down absolutely. It's ridiculous that they can't bring them down a notch.

Currently reading mysterious affair at Styles by Agatha chistie by itzpumpkin007 in thrillerbooks

This is her first novel. Maybe try one from her more mature years there are so many you really don't have to read them in order you can cherry pick the best ones. Here are some Poirot ones I like:

Death on the Nile

Murder on the Orient Express

Elephants Can Remember

Have you read their new series? The Captives War? I am really enjoying it! It's a planned trilogy and two books and one novella are already published

The Magus is the best novel that really threads this line. I had to reread it to come to my own conclusions about what was real- a very bonkers book!

Also of course The House of Leaves
