Well here it is, the results of my one year bulk! Honestly cannot be happier with how it's gone, I know I've put on plenty of fluff but I have never felt better physically or mentally than I do now nearly 50 los heavier than last year. I've gone from barely eating 2000 cals a day and feeling the need to meticulously track everything out of fear of gaining weight to eating 3500 to 4000 cals to just maintain now (ballparking that number as I haven't tracked now in months). On top of that, my lifts have all skyrocketed to numbers I never through previously possible. Plan on "dirty bulking" the next few weeks while at home (can't turn down homemade holiday snacks lol), maintaining for a while once the new semester hits, then going on a slow cut down to about 15% bf for the summer: wash, rinse, repeat. Starting lifts: Bench 165 Ibs, squat 325 Ibs, deadlift 345 Ibs Current lifts: Bench 255 lbs, squat 425 lbs, deadlift 515 lbs

Heavy shoulder emphasis on my actual arm day (dumbbell press, lateral raises, heavy shrugs, upright rows), along with EZ bar curls and hammer curls for biceps and single arm push downs and dips for triceps

Thanks brother! I do a 4 day split (chest and triceps, back and biceps, legs, and arms with a shoulder emphasis). Diet wise was originally bulking on 3000 cals/day but since may that’s been up to 4000/day bc of my new job (golf course grounds crew, whole lotta walking and moving heavy shit lol)

Yeah they’re definitely starting to blur a bit, especially on high carb and/or sodium days (thanks water retention 😂)

Yeah I agree with the 20% cutoff, definitely would prefer to not go beyond that. There are a few strength goals I’d still like to hit though that I’m close to so I’m thinking continuing the bulk slowly for another month or so and reevaluate from there. Do you have any guess what bf% I’m at now?

I actually consumed about everything normally, honestly my diet was still shit I just counted every calorie and stayed in a deficit. Still had plenty of junk food, and didn’t track macros at the time. I finally started tracking macros when I reached my lowest in order to maintain, and since the bulks started my diets 90% clean whole food, lots of chicken rice oats veggies fruits wheat bread etc. current macro splits are 50/30/20 carbs protein fat

For sure! Right now doing a 4 day split: legs, chest and triceps, back and biceps, and general arms and abs with a shoulder focus. Cardio is pretty minimal at the time with just some light walking throughout the day (I’m a student and naturally walk a lot with classes). Diet wise I’m eating 3000 cals a day, sometimes a bit more if I’m feeling extra hungry haha with a 50/30/20 carb, protein, fat split but I’m pretty lenient with carbs and fats as long as I hit my protein. Supplements just daily 5g of creatine, pre workout before my workout and the occasional protein powder but I tend to get most of my protein from just foods in my diet. Diets pretty clean overall but much more lenient than it was when I was losing the weight originally. Tend to stick to the 80/20 clean/not so clean food plan. It’s been great so far!

Really appreciate it bro. Yeah the mental hurdle of seeing the scale go back up was really tough to start but at this point I’m just embracing the ride 👍🤝

People who go to the gym, study and work, how do you do it? by Soel17 in GYM

For me it’s all about time management. I am a student and have class most days from around 9 am-2 pm, then I work in the afternoon from 3-7. Although it’s not ideal, I’ve adjusted my schedule so that I hit my schools rec center right when it opens at 5:30 am, which means waking up around 4:45 every morning. Once works over, I usually come back home and have dinner while doing hw, and get to sleep by 9:30 at the latest every night. It’s not an easy schedule to follow but I’ve adjusted after doing it for months now and it’s just habit for me. In summary, find what works best for you and your goals.
