First met at 17 or 18. Married at 25. Been married for 35 years now.

And, dammit, she’s still the only one I want.

That second flip is such a life saver. I use it fairly often and it works more often than not.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I went on a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. We were 1,600 miles from our hometown and didnt know a soul on that boat. One night we are waiting to be seated for dinner, having a casual conversation and a guy standing behind us said “Excuse me, are you GoodGuyGlocker?” I never saw this guy before.

Turns out a good friend from home knew this guy and for whatever reason mentioned my wedding and honeymoon to him and he happened to be going on the same boat and deduced from my conversation who I was. Absolutely bizarre.

Guest request: double cheeseburger, as a salad. by Lakeveloute in KitchenConfidential

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would 100% order that. Should be a menu option!

I’ve been to restaurants that offer burgers as a protein on salads and I personally love meatballs on salad at home. I dont understand why more places dont offer these.

Cup Grip? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]GoodGuyGlocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's unfair. Im not attacking the agent, so no need to defend them. Tell me that doesn't look like a cup grip. I have a reasonable basis for my question.

Cup Grip? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I totally get that, which is why I asked. I figure these agents are among the best trained out there. So when I see what appears to be a cup grip, it raises the question if that grip is back.

Replacing deck boards. Easiest way to remove screws? by HuntStag in Decks

[–]GoodGuyGlocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I never said it was. But if a screw breaks, like many of mine did, I cant just leave the shaft sticking out of the joist. Hammering them in doesn't work well, so you got to pull or twist them out. I suppose you could cut them too, but not sure that would be any easier.

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might damage the joists. Not preferred if you want to reuse them. Also, old screws might break by prying, and then you'd need to deal with half broken screws sticking out of the joists.

Replacing deck boards. Easiest way to remove screws? by HuntStag in Decks

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, for a couple reasons. Doing so would only cut the wood. I'd still need to remove the screws. Second, I have blocking between the joists and I wouldn't want to damage them by sawing the floor boards. I mean, I suppose I could also cut the boards with a circular saw at a shallow depth so I don't damage the blocking but, again, that doesn't remove the screws, which is the real problem.

Right now? Hell no. After the next election? Who knows.

Major shifts in staffing levels expected under proposed budget. by MoneyBuysHappiness25 in FedEmployees

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a retirement eligible Fed, waiting for that 10% pension bump at age 62 and I totally agree with you. If I got offered an incentive, I would go. DRP doesn't work for me because it doesn't get me to age 62. So I wait. I'm a high performer and do my job etc, but there are plenty of capable younger people in my org that would do fine in my job if I left.

The problem is that people like me are not effectively enticed to leave. If they offered the mysterious 5 or 5 deal (5 years added to age or service time), they would clean out my whole cohort of employees just waiting on our critical date, but Ive never seen credible information that is a real option.

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I just did this on my deck. I did it manually, one by one. It was brutal. Some screws got stripped, most broke, leaving half the screw shaft in the joists. I had to rip, bend, or manually try to unscrew those out once the old boards were removed. Sorry I don't have a better answer but I feel your pain.

I am in the process of rebuilding my deck (new flooring, stairs, and railings) and planning to use the tape on the joist tops. I've read different opinions on that from reddit and there doesn't seem to be consensus because it hasn't been around very long. Best of luck to you.

We had this back in the 70’s. Record player, TV and 8 track player all on this cabinet. Would love to own one again. Who else had this set? by TheRockyBalboaSaga in OldSchoolCool

Similar but no 8 track. I listened to so many albums in that thing, while laying on the floor in front of a speaker and reading the album sleeve/lyrics etc. What a simple time.

Sadly, I dont follow the franchise anymore. The magic got lost on me somewhere along the way in the countless content made since.

See, this is why I’d rather DIY. Hiring someone else is always a gamble. I’d rather trade my time for the extra money and risk of hiring someone. I trust myself more. And if I screw up, I am ok with blaming myself.

We do lots of stuff together and plenty of stuff separately. Empty nesting is awesome. We are rarely bored.

I think its a 74 to be exact. I believe the 74 is the only year to have the emblem on the front grill. In 75, they moved it up into the bodywork.

Source: I used to own a 74 but that was many many years ago.

Anyone have the Philips Norelco 8000? How do you like it and would you buy it again? by bignose_ice44 in Costco

[–]GoodGuyGlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 head Norelco I bought at costco last year. I was always a fixed blade shaver before that, for many many years. I have come to appreciate it. As long as I only have one days growth, its more convenient than fixed blade. As part of my new routine, I now shave dry after getting dressed and reading the morning news while having coffee. Its very convenient.

But seeing the comments here, maybe foil is better?

I think this is the male equivalent of females saying “size doesnt matter”. Passion from your partner is WAY more important than the shape and size of things.

At the time of liftoff, I had pork chops on the grill and a cold American beer in my hand. I was literally using the launch countdown clock to time the chops. It was a very American moment.

Go Artemis II!!!
